I think its a setup. The nurse didn't want to work no more and decided to get run over in front of a camera so she can get disability. I'm telling ya....
I just can't believe how many lowlife, shit-bags are commenting that this nurse is at fault, or just saying something shitty about it in general. You all need to be dragged under a bus for a mile or two.
in WA state, the pedestrian has right of way ALWAYS unmarked or marked, the second they step on the road you have to stop no matter what. however, COMMON SENSE, tells us, NEVER ASSUME the drive is going to stop........so anyways...did this lazy nurse win a darwin award or is she the crippledness?
My wife was a nurse. It's an exhausting job where they spend long hours caring for other people in need. A nurse gives a lot of themselves. You callously call this woman lazy when she was probably just tired/drained from a long, demanding day of giving care to others. I hope you end up in the hospital and get a "lazy" nurse who forgets to give you some life saving medication:)
LOL, that's funny, I actually was in the hospital and was cripplized, and had some great nurses, and they did not show their weaknesses. Just because you are tired, doesn't mean that is an excuse to not look where the hell you are going.
@jasonlajoie Don't you find her at least partialy at fault? After all, she walked out into a street without looking. What happened to her was horrible (I don't know if she lived or not) but she had an obligation to look both ways before crossing a street and she failed to do that. The driver was also at fault but I don't believe it was 100% driver fault.
Places I've lived give the pedestrian the right of way at all times. The most prominent town I lived in for this situation was Ann Arbor MI - big University town. With so many students walking in the streets at any moment I had to be on my guard at all times. They don't have to use a crosswalk there. I think you and many others are conditioned to think that cars and pedestrians have the same rights - they don't. If you ever hit a pedestrian you are, by law, at fault no matter what.
How the fuck are people so stupid that they don't look when crossing a street?? CROSSWALKS should be outlawed. They make people feel to comfortable that they forget to pay attention. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS LOOK TO SEE IF IT'S SAFE TO CROSS, otherwise you're putting your life in a strangers hands. Would you let someone you don't know walk you through a mine field while blindfolded?? No, so then why trust someone will be looking out for you when crossing the street?
@staphinfection Crosswalks should be outlawed? wellthen nothing would get done cause noone could cross the street to go to work. Yes ppl shold look both ways i agree, thats common sence. But it is also up to the driver to pay attention to everything around them instead of just the things infront of them, like tunnel vision. This is ultamatly the drivers fault for not slowing down when they seen the ped wanot paying attention. Outlawing crosswalks, Wtf is wrong with u?
Okay, yeah, she was wrong for Jaywalking, but hold up tho. Aren't those little white lines on the street the same kind used in school zones where kids cross the street?
And what does that sign, thats turned away from us, say? Probably, "pedestrians crossing." smdh...
I would agree in righteous doings, if it would not turn out to be a legality case as it always does. Then it becomes the driver's responsibility to argue his/her case before a judge.
When a person is innocent it should end right there, but in the United States it's dragged on through an endless court system that will tarnish your name and destroy your physical well-being.
You can't be a good person in America. You help someone when they're injured and you will be sued by them for mal-practice
You're sidetracking the argument. It isn't about the man being innocent or not. There was an accident involving two people. The lady was obviously hurt.
Legalility aside, the decent thing would be to stop and help.
This video isn't about a good person helping someone out and getting fucked. It's about someone hitting another and leaving the scene without consent of the person involved.
Obviously, it's a crime. The American criminal system has made it a felony for "hit and run" crimes. Was that the right thing to do? Does it fit every scenario? No.
Should the driver spend 10 years in prison for leaving the scene? NO!! That's ridiculous. A stiff fine at most.
The United States has more prisoners than any other country on the planet and part of it is due to stupid legality procedures like prosecuting a driver for not filing out a stupid fucking police report.
Of course it fits every scenario. When would it not?
It doesn't matter how flawed the system is regarding his behavior. You're trying tomake a point, which I partly agree with, that doesn't fit the video.
He might have been exceeding the speed limit. He might have been under the influence. He might have an invalid license number. The point of staying behind is two fold. To make sure the lady wasn't dieing, and to make sure they know you're innocent.
Certainly, you can find much conjecture to justify your thinking, I would like to remind you though that conjecture is irrelevant.
If I were to resort to such a low level of thinking I would I could assemble a multitude of possible scenarios as to why the driver did not stop the vehicle.
The fact is this individual did not stop, but regardless of that there is evidence to show that the driver is not guilty of any crime, given the victim brought the injury upon herself.
Conjecture is not irrelevant when the offending party leaves a crime. That's something basic you learn pre-grad. When a crime is committed, one is not presumed innocent until proven guilty. One is guilty until proven innocent. Again, this is something basic. It's the reality, as you put it.
You cannot just disregard the fact that he ran simply because you have a gripe against the system. Law is the law. He ran. He's guilty of a hit and run. Period. The rest is semantics.
That's the reason they are there. Now that I look at it, she wasn't jaywalking. She was walking where she should be. She was just dumb by not looking up.
That's a crosswalking sign. Not the actual cross-walk. See, you're arguing semantics and I really don't want to get into a that kind of debate.
The man broke the law by leaving. He can't ignore the laws which he broke. She was stupid for not looking both ways. She was walking in a cross-walk and was not breaking the law.
I don't agree with that. The victim should have looked but was under no law saying she had to. She was in the crosswalk and had the right of way which the driver was obliged by law to observe. She was stupid, the driver broke 2 laws. 1. faling to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk. 2. Leaving teh scene of an accident.
Your taking a comment 'out of context' and claiming is shows my level of intelligence. I wouldn't insult you with the same remark but you could have look in the comment thread to see if it was a reply to someone. Which is was. That someone was calling the nurse stupid for getting hit by a car and claiming that she deserved to be hit because of her stupidity. Does my comment make more sense now?
yea but she was in the ped area, and that idiot was been suppose to slow down....so he's in deep shit either way...hit well committing a traffic violation, plus hit and run. Sucks to be both of them
Is the nurse ok? Omgosh that was awful to even watch....ppl shouldn't be driving that fast through there anyway..and he didn't even stop...wow that is sooooooo sick...my prayers are with her ...hope she is ok..
