  • /CIFF California/ - on facebook in Chico, Ca. Love it....please join our film group.

  • Typical "Team America!" garbage desecrating yet another spiritual ritual they don't understand. I don't know what is wrong with our culture, that we think it's ok to make racist comments to people (who are the TRUE inhabitants of the land, before they had it stolen from them) during their sacred time. Trash like these boaters makes me ashamed to call myself white, and call myself American, and I apologize to everyone today who's harmed by our imperialist, oppressive belief system.

  • Oh, I LOVE the ceremony!! Wonderful, Thank you so much for shareing!!

  • I also suggest that you put all your petitions on StumbleUpon so people can just press thumbs up and spread it farther so that more people see it and sign it.

  • I signed the petition but this is just modern day hate crime which as usual the government only sent a volunteer who hardly has any power to do anything real.

It is more patriotic to respect people then it is to go and disrupt other cultures ceremonies. You didn't go to their Sunday mass or baptism and do similar things. It was just them committing crimes of arrogant ignorance and the government might as well been wearing the KKK uniforms as well.

Nothing changes until good people act and lead

  • unfortunately there is not enough natural land for all citizens to enjoy. I can honestly say as a citified american, that I cannot stand the abuse of nature for profit and If I was near this area of the river enjoying myself, I might not leave the area either. However, I would do my best to allow them their space.. Nature brings me back to peace, back to one with myself. However, drinking and cussing and flashing is definately rude and those boaters should be fined or something.

  • I just signed your petition on Change.org I wish your tribe all the best , and that people will wake up and give you support and acknowledge your history with your land .

  • I signed the change.org petition. I certainly hope that one day your people will see justice. I hope those ignoramuses on the boats get a chance to see their behavior in this video.

Those people are not adults, and have much to learn.

  • Would they run off the bears if they interrupted the ceremony? How about the buffalo? The white is just another animal existing in its natural habitat and behaving in its natural way. It is nature. Celebrate it.

  • @x1134x... Bears or Buffalo don't act like assholes and voluntarily disrespect the ceremonial process --- hardly any reason to "celebrate" such weak-mindedness. You're right however, these white animals are simply behaving in its natural way. Hopefully soon, they will understand that we are all one in nature... and that's when they'll begin to grow into the spiritual beings we were all meant to embrace.

  • What a beautiful ceremony. I'm sorry the Winnemem Wintu people have to go through that. I signed the petition on Change.org, and wish you luck.

  • Awesome ceremony, and that's a really beautiful place. I hope that one stupid chick is proud of herself for flashing. What a bunch of idiots.

  • The God Damned U.S. Government should be ashamed of their continuing Genocidal efforts against Indigenous First Americans...Creator help America, cuz monumental payback is forthcoming if the Injustices do not end...This is the America that the Honorable Reverand Wright spoke of...Wright is RIGHT!

  • ignorant white folks.

  • Beautiful that this ceremony was able to be performed. Best of luck in getting the signatures needed on your petition and hopefully more people will be respectful of these ceremonies. Miikwetch for sharing this lovely video of the beautiful people of your area!

  • i find it sad that folk are so removed from sacredness, from honouring and respecting Indigenous peoples and each others sacred rites that they think its ok to be so disrespectful like this .. I HONOUR YOUR SACRED WAYS, I GIVE THANKS that local 'authoriites' finally stepped in and helped this young woman complete her rite successfully ... welcome to Womanhood sister, and many many blessings to you and the WinnememWintu ... peace and love, Lynn

  • The Forest Service could close off that area for those four days out of respect if nothing else. Having worked on a Forest Service area for four years I know they can be accommodating if they desire. IF THEY DESIRE!

  • Why doesn't the sheriff use his authority to close the lake all four days? It's a simple matter for the sheriff to make the decision to do the right thing and bar the drunkards. The houseboat could make dock any number of places on the lake. This could be solved locally by lobbying the law officials responsible for this jurisdiction.

    But sign the petition.

  • I signed the petition. I have thought about what I have seen in this video. The only value I see in the boaters as members of the human race is to serve as an example of how not to behave. It must be horrible to be so worthless.

  • petition+protect-winnemem-wintu-tribe-puberty-ceremony

    Gladly signed!

  • it's so sad the injustices that have been done to this land and it's people.
