  • 24 years ago and thanks to you tube it is easy to find these gem's. Not too long ago it would have been almost impossible for someone to be able to play these anytime they wanted.

  • Three great ladies worked wonders together and Trio is one of the finest albums released in 1987!

  • always.

  • What great harmony! Three remarkably talented and beautiful ladies.

  • YOU men alllll ages love my generations Emmy LOU....indeed she is grandddddddddddddddddd. WOOO HOOO to us older gals,. Love this!

Dolly has a vocal sound ALL her own......Lindas good to even though she has politics I CAN DO WITHOUT! JUST SING LADY~

  • Dammmm Dolly can sang her little ass offf!!

  • @gtownlad77 and her big titties too

  • Wow! Knocks my socks off! Even for "Classic Vinyl" types, there's just got to be a spot for "Memories" in one's Top 100. :)

  • The remarkable ' TRIO', vocals & the band are superb.

  • i wish they would go on tour id be the first in line and i hate most c&w

  • love you dolly

  • It was my very great privilege to be walking past on the beach at Malibu when the ladies were practicing this. What a gift! I will never forget it. I just squatted down under their deck and listened, As a professional musician myself, just bowed and worshipped in their general direction...

  • THIS VIDEO COULD BE BETTER, BUT YA KNOW IF THIS ALL I CAN GET I,M GREATFUL

  • Wait, how did David Bowie get into the Trio?

  • These are live performances kids no auto tune. Just pure talent

  • Now that's the way to sing!!!

  • that is 'Slappy John' at the back the best musician in the universe

  • What a band! Leland Sklar on bass, David Lindley on mandolin.

  • these are the good old gals. I love it. Emmy Lou has classic beauty, but I love Linda the best. Dolly has so much personality and projects.

  • Very Classy.

  • Dolly wrote this song in classic bluegrass style. The Best!

  • @GVbroker2 This song was written by Alan O'Bryant of " The Nashville Bluegrass Band." He also played with Bill Monroe for a while.

  • one of my favorite albums, these three together. :)

  • spitze einfach spitze

  • Trio - einfach wunderbar

  • Is the right one siegfried from siegfried and roy ?

  • this is fantastic -- I wish that the Emmy Lou and Linda R had had the chance to take a verse - that would have been epic!

  • Well I'm looking at the comments about who the musicians are.. That is NOT Jerry Douglas on the dobro. but I do see David Lindley playing next to Mark.

Herb Pederson is there I can't see the musician on the far left to identify him.

  • Dolly seems to be the only one enjoying this song, she;s swaying to the music and smiling,Linda and EmmyLou,are as straight as boards,no facial expressions at all. A beautiful song!

  • @estelle715 i think they have sex like that too.Doly is probably a lot of fun.

  • @estelle715

Dolly will always be aswayin', regardless. Linda and EmmyLou are simply outsung, and peed-off, I reckon, which explains why their faces look like smacked arses. Still a fab trio.

  • I see the parting smiles of these Great Musicians as this song ends show mutual appreciation for a work of great beauty that they have made. Exquisite, and HAUNTING.

  • i grew up listening to this song... this whole album! love it!

  • @gretchenhofer...als, David Linley on mando, Lee Sklar on bass, Russ Kunkel on drums...but who's on guitar next to Jerry?

  • @lobothedog2002

I think the guitarist.was Herb Perdersen.

  • Emmylou looks awkward without her guitar

  • Dolly's got a voice and half.

  • This video is excellent! Mark O'Connor is playing fiddle, Jerry Douglas on dobro, I'm not sure but I think Peter Rowan is on Guitar.Three of the Top vocalists in music !!! @ SecondRisingSun; What cave have you been in? Those are very talented singer songwriters. Why do you have to make fun? This was a live show...you can't make mistakes!

  • "the cute bunny, the skanky ol western hooker and the masculine chic... " but its the msg huh?

  • a song that tells it like it can be

  • a song that tells it like it can be

  • Tomb ovtkg

    Yuchivkc

    K

  • One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES!! I love these three women.....

  • gives me chills !! love it so much

  • This, surely, can't be bettered. Except by Dolly herself, possibly, as in "Jolene", "I Will Always Love You" etc.. And "Islands in the Stream" of course.

  • Mark O'Connor should be tagged here too! Amazing collaboration as others have remarked. Emmylou isnt the only talented woman in the trio...Dolly and Linda are just as great ;)

  • Love this...hadn't heard it for awhile....great collaboration by all.

  • whats not to like about dolly.a real class act.

  • holy shite! david Lindley and Mark O Conner!.......this line-up kills me. One of the great collaborations of music history. thanks.

  • The harmony that Linda and Emmylou do in this song does something that Dolly singing alone can't do. It's like adding the three necessary spices to a good recipe. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Save this tune at Mediaoutletonline. Just search it with Gooogle 8)

  • Emmylou athe actual talent.....

  • incredible concretation of talent

  • everyone in their prime

  • My favorite song for jammin' wiith

  • griffon yeah.

  • griffon sent me here...haha

  • What a treasure, these three ladies harmonizing, wow!

  • DAVID LINDLEY- "Just a fiddle player". (Nice surprise to see him) This is the best musical collaberations of females in history!

  • I really love this song, as I had the tape of all 3 of those ladies singing. It was wonderful...I think I've still got it.

  • TOP SHELF!! :-)

  • My late Mom and Dad's Favorite Song and would listen to this in Prince Rupert at the Moby Dick when it was upstairs where they surprised my as I didn't see them as I sat at the bar and didn't see them till I started looking around. I was then on a first date with my second Ex Sharon.

  • the best!!

  • this was the best single released from the original Trio album....way to go Dolly

  • this was the best single released from the original Trio album....way to go Dolly

  • this was probably the best single released from the original Trio album.....way to go Dolly

  • @dollytilidie hobo's meditation was wonderful also.

  • By God Emmy is perpetually HOT!!!

  • hey you tubers help me find some country music bands that have fiddle and guitar, fast and slow stuff. love me some fiddle and i'm a new country fan. dont know who i like yet. help please. thanks

  • Love It...Beautiful Girls...

  • These three have always had the greatest harmonies. Just love it.

  • I don't know yet. I like all 3 singers but, something isn't right here.

  • beautiful music,

  • Loveve this kind off country, nice song.

  • Just perfect !!! great stuff.

  • I have to get me some

  • Wow! What terrific close harmony. Priceless song sung by three of the most beautiful Country and Western singers in the world.

  • love that fiddle

  • Brillant...Gorgeous girls...

  • And that's none other than the great Mark O'Connor on fiddle!

  • @youpooroldsod As soon as I heard that sweet sound I thought it was him...

  • Dolly At Her Most Beautiful! Emmylou, Goodness, and Red Hot Linda!

    Wow, What a combo!!

  • Hi there, i still recall the release of the album..................... greatttttt

  • Gasp - Dolly goofed up the lyrics! I can't believe how stiff these ladies were during this, they were all seasoned performers but no one looked like they wanted to be there

  • @gingergargoyle lol yeah they arent dancers but singers. If u ask a background dancer to suddenly sing it will be horrendous too :p Their voices are angelic and if u still doubt just listen "boulder to birmingham" from emmylou harris and u will hear why its not important how they dance lol

  • I love this song. From a ***tape*** I loved in the 80's called Trio, with these three ladies. Wish I could find some of the other songs from the album, like Wildflowers Dont Care Where They Grow. Dolly is such a great little songbird.

  • Cool video I'll be back later to watch some more

  • brantley finch kern from high point nc...right up the road always nice to see a local musician in the good ol stuff. just another example of why nc has the best fiddle and or bluegrass players.

  • @ TheLonesomeEchosite... I think you're right. I thought the same thing just before reading your post. How many Lindley fans have never seen this clip?

  • Like in every genre there are crap and good things, they are from good to excellent, in their long careers

  • This is pure American country music, right from the heart! The background! music cannot be beat!

  • Whow god if these treeg great singer would have toured togheter and made a live album or dvd , that would have showed us the real magic of these singing sisters.......they are grand!!!!

  • definately Herb Pederson to the right of Emmy Lou

  • It looks like David Lindley playing guitar behind Dolly.

  • @TheLonesomeEchoesite Yep it is. Good eye!

  • Is this why Linda didn't make it to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame? She also did an american standard album with Nelson Riddle and some other things besides R & R... Still, Linda can do it all, she sings perfectly and she just can't help it...

  • Dolly Parton and her knockout voice! So often underestimated because of the size of her mammaries. The three of these ladies together are just awesome!

  • This was recorded in earlier times, when Ronstadt had good enough sense to keep her liberal remarks to herself. She's best when she's singing. Trio was a great group, their performances are classic. Smooth and edgy at the same time. Thanks for posting.

  • @2n918 I too enjoyed watching this video, in times when you had good enough sense to keep your sorry remarks to yourself. You're (probably) best when you're not confusing everything with anything.

  • @camberbirdie I am just remarking that politics has no business in the music/entertainment business. I am well aware that many (most?) entertainers are quite liberal in their beliefs. That is fine, However, I do not believe they should use their limelight to broadcast their politics. If I want to see politics discussed, there are many venues to which I can turn. I just resent spending my money to go to a concert to be entertained and then be made to listen to a performer's political views.

  • @2n918 So just because a person is in "music/entertainment business", they are no longer allowed their First Amendment right to free speech? I thought the Tea Party was all about backing the Constitution...

  • @adcan45 They can have all the free speech they want, just not on my dime when I'm attending their concert.

  • OINK OINK OINK!!!

  • Great song, great performance.

  • Is that Mark O'Connor on fiddle?! Freakin' awesome. I love this.

  • does anyone know whether this can be downloaded from itunes? oh man, so GOOD!

  • Holy smokes , a Weissenborn solo !from about 2:20

  • It just doens't get much better than this!! My dad would play the guitar and he and I would sing this when I was a kid. I'll always love this song and it has a special place in my heart!

  • Defective video

  • OH BOY

I have this on VHS...thx so much for uploading it!!

  • @Toffeeman01 That's Mark O'Connor fiddling (in the hat) if you're curious.

  • @janicefriend1 Thank you for the info!

  • i have always loved this song

  • sounds like 3 song birds on a branch to me .that i would love to wake up to

  • Three amazing women with heart, soul and talent. No need to take it to the shallow and remark on boobs. Good lord!

  • this isn't a video game. Do the Legends have to fight. This is purely sublime.

  • @ closertogod - that's because Dolly is singing the melody, while Emmylou and Linda are singing backing vocals.

  • SIMBEAU IS 100% CORRECT!!!

  • Puts all others music to shame!

  • QUE GANAS DE CHUPARTE LAS TETAS DOLY!

  • Dolly Parton = Great singer and .... and... and .... Big boobs

  • a legendary event and all 3----yes---legends in thier own time!

  • Just think, there is more talent there, then the last 25 years of music.

  • is that James Taylor on the left playing acoustic? hard to see on this video but it sure looks like him

  • @lenloser difficult to tell. looks tall enough and has about the right amount of hair for the period. The only one I recognise (apart from Lindley) is Leland Sklar on bass

  • Comment removed

  • And now, here they are, Dolly Parton!

  • I think justducky meant Marty Stewart. And, yes she does look like him! Emmy Lou looks better nowadays. Yeah that is David Lindley in the background on mandolin.

  • Hmmm, I just noticed how much Emmylou Harris looks like Marty Stevens with that hairdo.

  • I love all three of these talented ladies.

My favorite line of Dolly's, "It costs lots of money to look this cheap."

  • Dolly can make a olies/classic rock/reggae/motown lover cry , and DID ........

  • she can make a rock and rooler cry , and DID

  • holy moly eh!

  • Great song!!Haunting!!!!!!Looks like its older than I thought. When was this done?

  • Great song!!Haunting!!!!!!

  • I heard this song on the radio for the first time and I just fell in love

  • Comment removed

  • Such harmony !!!!! Maybe todays "singers" should take lessons from really good women singers...and thank goodness the words make sense....put Nora Jones in this group and ENJOY the music

  • Billy Joe Armstrong, Robert Plant and David Bowie. ;-) lol, just kidding! ;-)

  • @ShedeasVideos LMFFAOO!!! :D

  • Great back up band. I see David Lindley and Leland Sklar. I am not sure of the names of the others, however I am sure that they are a who's who of great back up players.

  • @mkeulr mark o'conner on fiddle

  • A/3 V/3

  • I hate country music, and yet I love this. That's how good it is.

  • @simbeau -- you probably hate country because you've mostly been exposed to pop-country-crap. Take a few tastes of Emmylou, some Gram, maybe a little Merle Haggard, a detour through Johnny Cash, a nod at the Carter Family, don't forget Willie, and when you're ready, some George Jones.... and you'll discover that you always loved country, you just didn't know what to call it.

  • @pbridge1300 No. I hate country. Trust me.

  • @pbridge1300 u forgot waylon

  • When are they coming out with another album? Love the meld of these three phenomenal voices! Each powerful and amazingly talented, blessed by God, these ladies are legends in their own right, but together.....I think God weeps when he hears these three harmonizing!

  • Only two good things about Dolly. Her tits!!!!

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta Go get help now fckwit!

  • @357HFC Got something against tits?

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta Absolutely not, don't care for crass uncouth comments from uneducated dimwits.

  • @357HFC It's clear you were a bottle fed baby. I'm sorry your mother was lazy and inadequate. Otherwise you would love titties...Unfortunately you have inherited a weakened immune system, in addition to your other obvious psychological hang ups.

  • peters332, i wonder if we saw the video on CMT? i was living in New Mexico then and it was before YouTube. i wish we could find it. :-)

  • the original video of this is unbelievably good. harry dean stanton is in it and he has his fiddle and an old black lab. he dances with a broom.......it is so sad and wonderful.........

this means a lot to me because there is someone that i only have memories of now. Alan O'Bryant of The Nashville Bluegrass Band wrote this song. Check them out. Best fiddler (Stuart Duncan) and harmonies around.

  • @fayeroe1009

I remember the original video also, that is what I was looking for, guess no one has it to post. such a haunting song.

  • @MsKimmy24 It was posted up until recently, then disappeared. If you find it, take note, there is a glitch in the audio at one point that causes it to be out of sync with the video. This goes all the way back to when it was being aired on CMT (or it actually may have been pre-CMT and on VH1). The video was a favorit of mine and I remember one day the glitch was there and never fixed. hopefully It will be restored and re-released one day. Hard to believe it has been over twenty years.

  • My word, that shut me up. What a song, what a line-up.

Good there's no-one at home to see me blubbing!

Love the fashions. Sure I have a back suit, pencil tie and some white shoes somewhere..

    ;-)

  • GOD! Dolly's Shrill Shreik just overpowers the true sweet velvet voices of Linda and Emmy Lou!

  • The girls hit #5 in Billboard, 12-12-87. God bless ya, girls! Emmylou, give up those bidi cigarettes you've been smokin'. They're as deadly, if not more so, than the American ones. God bless!

  • Is that David Lindley playing guitar?

  • @larryblatterman1 Lindley is playing mandolin.

  • like, like, like, this is nothing short of perfection......they r so awesome....thanks for posting...

  • This is as good as it gets! Best of American music.

  • I remember my late parents singing to this when we sat in the pubs in Prince Rupert and when we played the cassette. Its still one of my favorites

  • Oh gosh. Happy night to have stumbled upon this country music treasure. Makes me miss my dad because he loved to play country and western on our old radio in the kitchen in the fifties. Three "greats" from the music world together. Heavenly! :)

  • Amazing, love it very much. XOXO from Colombia <3

  • Solid Gold!!!

  • This music that is not heard anymore. It is too bad that country has gone to Schlock, but it has. We have lost all the old singers (men & women). There are a few exceptions, but the rule is just turn 'em & burn 'em; make money and the quality be damned.

  • @Bubblechaser6069 Oh yeah it is. We do this stuff every week . . .
