  • I just finished laughing my ass off, then I scroll down to the message board, read some of the posts and now I feel like slitting my wrists!

  • Charlie Callas was priceless and funny as hell. I used to love watching the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts.

  • LOVE IT!!!!!

  • I'm sorry that only the brainless toilet mouths of today can make you laugh. You're to be pitied. So are they. But then they come from a dying society. The comedy above came from an America that was alive and well.

  • This was probably for its day.. however by todays standards its barley corny. Not funny at all.. sorry old timers. :-( there's a reason why comics don't do this type of comedy anymore

  • @SamWhitemoon1

Yeah, because of idiots like you!

  • Those days are long gone, sad to say

  • This is great Comedy! Everybody should have tears in their eyes

  • I wish we had comics like that now . Wtf are they???

  • I have never seen Frank laugh so much. He has to wipe his eyes because he is crying he is laughing so hard at the cracked knuckle joke.

  • Dean is dying @ 1:54 :)

  • So wonderful to see Frank in tears of laughter that he had to rub his eyes, with Dean laughing with him is a joy indeed from two of the worlds best entertainers.

How sad that they have left us, you are all loved amd we miss you.

    Clive & Pamela S/W France

  • So far the only people who are still alive are Jon Winters, Rich Litte, Don Rickles and Ruth Buzzi...I know there are others. Don't know there names...

  • True comedy. No F bombs every second.

  • I live in a tough neighborhood you could walk 10 blocks and never leave the scene of a crime! (LMAO)

  • REAL Roasts here! Not the comedy central unfunny trash roasts. Dean was the king!

  • @aitraining agreed. the so called funny people today are pathetic. everything with them is about screwing and glorifying crack heads like Charlie Sheen. it's really sad.

  • @rjplamf61 We are a lot more obscene with the comedy (my younger generation). But I personally love this humor even more.

  • Boy, I love the way Frank laughs his ass off :))

  • Boy, I love the way laughs his ass off :))

  • Never opress any race or nationality. Why ?? Because you make them much more important than they are.

  • this is all the sensitive people fault

  • Now we have this bland society that's afraid of everything. We are so insecure that we can't laugh at ourselves or take a joke for what's it's worth. It's a sad sad place to be these days...this United States of America.

  • @Handiman544 Same in the UK my friend, very Sad world these day's,,

  • @Handiman544 100 % dean on true...country is a politically correct joke

  • @Handiman544 dead on ...that is

  • @Handiman544 blame political correctness and the 60's movements for destroying everything offensive

  • @Colton5 : Let me guess...white male?

  • @LKat900 let me guess... .. .... .. . . . . . .... angry anti-american american socialist minority who hates Caucasian males? XD

  • I laugh at this man before he even talks. LOVED this guy and a roast pro!

  • @rexorrama They were not racist. They were comedians. People forget hot to make fun or have fun these days. As for the mafia part...there is no mafia.

  • @rexorrama I think you mean the rat pack. and back then doing those kind of jokes were funny and everyone can laugh at it. If you know an intellegent way to joke about something. At least all the people back then were friends of each other, now every star out there don't know who they are and also self-centered.

  • Yes life like that won't come again.

  • Just because you don't get it doesn't mean it's not funny.

  • Gene Kelly looks like he drank a liter of botox with that smile

  • @malizlato

What an ignorant comment. Well dear those were the days before botox. Most people wore their real faces, It was more honest and human. For your info, people's faces are all different sizes. Yours too-

  • RIP Charlie Callas

  • Safe journey Mr. Callas

  • South Park rules.

  • Unfortunately, only one person knows whether an insult's funny or hurtful---the subject. Kinda like hitting someone with a hammer and saying, "aw, come on, that didn't hurt." Got to rely on the victim---if they laugh, it's funny. If they don't, it ain't.

  • @joefax530 i disagree- i'm not jewish but i'm insulted by holocaust jokes. what if two black folks hear a black joke and one is offended and one isn't-- is the person laughing "right" or the person who isn't?

  • R.I.P. Charlie. You truly were an entertaining entertainer, and will be missed.

  • Callas ranks among the great comedians of our time! seeing these roasts, is sheer joy for me becuase my grandfather told me about them and we would watch on tv when they would be on. my grandfather had over 200 channels on cable and he loved it when he saw these raosts, he told me he was at a few of them himself

great comedians ot today can not will not and could never measure up to these legends including Mr. callas. sure there are some good comdeians today but not like then.IMO

  • RIP Charlie. Thanks for the laughs.

  • "Back in the day" you say. I saw no people of color or women in that panel "back in the day." When was this filmed? How much less, on average, were women and people of color making when compared to white men "back in the day." You say it's uptight now compared to "back in the day." It's only uptight because the civil rights movement and beyond has made it acceptable for people who are considered minorities to stand up for themselves when they're offended.

  • @peterdnyc1

Well watch a few more roasts then. There were women, there were blacks. Nipsy Russell ? He was black. And Sammy Davis Junior was one of their closest friends. You don't know much but you sure are uptight.

  • @cubomania3

actually, you should read a few more books. I'm not uptight, I'm angry at ignorant fellow white men who don't get that we are the largest recipients of affirmative action ever. heaven forbid we take some personal responsibility for the systems we create and perpetuate. just look at the numbers. how many white people were lynched by angry black mobs in the lifetimes of nipsy russel and sammy davis junior. a few back folks and women on the rostrum don't change that

  • @peterdnyc1

Right HOW MANY were lynched in Nipsy Russell's lifetime ? That's what you should let sink into your head, you little racist. You are living in the past, YOU should read a few books about the underground railroad and how many "white people" were also against the evil of real crimes. And they weren't all in the underground railroad, they went on political marches with blacks. We had JFK and RFK. You are the racist and want your head to stay in the past ,seeing only what you want.

  • @cubomania3 i'll tell you EXACTLY HOW MANY W H I T E folks were lynched by angry black mobs during that time: ZERO!!! How many Black folks helped WHITE folks escape slavery on the underground railroad? ZERO!!!! I'm living in the past? Wasn't the past the whole point of this conversation? The good OLD days when white guys could just say whatever offensive garbage they wanted and no one minded ? Sure, some whites have done good things, but it's been a white system doing the bad the whole time.

  • @peterdnyc1

It's sad, you are a really messed up racist. You can't even respond and make any sense . Good luck---live in past with all your hate. FREAK-

  • @cubomania3 those who forget (or in your case deny) the past are doomed to repeat it.

  • @cubomania3 How many "whites" are lying dead in cemeteries fighting the Civil War. I understand a lot fought for the USA itself. Some fought out of the thrill. Some joined for their families pride. But more than a few fought because they knew slavery was wrong and paid the ultimate price. Thank you.

  • rest in peace

  • Didnt know much about him sadly but a friend just told me about him. What an amazing line up there. Frank , Deam , Ernest and many more.

    Actually very funny stuff. RIP

They truly don't seem to make them like that anymore. Thank god for film hey !

  • yes I agree-

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P. Mr. Callas. :(

  • Requescat In Pace, love you Charlie!

  • RIP Charlie, Thank you for all the laughs!

  • RIP Charlie, Thank you for all the laughs!

  • Indeed a very funny man...RIP..and thanks for all the laughs.

  • ; Rest in peace, Charlie Callas.

  • Funny Funny Man RIP Charlie

  • RIP Charlie.

  • I loved it when he cracked his knuckles and Frank was in tears. You'll never find humor, without filth, like this again.

  • do anyone really care that Frank was mobed up? he grew up with these guys and they like to hear him sing. so so what. hes still a genius

  • "You could walk 10 blocks and never leave the scene of a crime" LOL

  • You all have to remember that back then, everyone wasn't so politically correct and that what was said was understood as humor not racism or discrimination. Just keep that in mind when you watch this

  • @SaveToComputer now im not a fan of american humour partly as i dont understand it ,its probaly a cultural thind divided by the pond hower i remember rowan and martins laugh in,but these roasts have me howling, political correctness these days has killed comedy, strange isnt it you can think what u want but people cant laugh at that, refreshingly innocent ,i dont see racism or otherwise when i watch these roasts just someone making people in some cases cry laughing now thats comedy as it should b

  • @SaveToComputer

    i AGREE..back in the day..you could call a spook a spook..you could call a woman...sweetheart, honey, doll...

nowadays you have to watch every word you say...

  • i undrstand this is all in fun, and friends mostly, and that racist jokes are not meant to. hurt anyone... my point is only that we are same.. and shouldnt lable groups of ppl or individuals... im not uptight about it... just sayin you can easily make fun of yourself or others without using racial terms thats all...

  • @arlichar11 Dude, have u seen today's roasts? Bob Saget? Flava Flave? David Hasselhoff? They are hardcore dirty jokes, these are Sunday school jokes compared to today's roasts.

  • @quincee33 Please tell me when and what channel they're on? I want to see what else everyone is talking about.

  • @alaina66 u never know, they're not scheduled precisely every week....but the roasts are on the Comedy Now....in Canada it's the comedy network.... just google William Shatner roast and go from there.

  • @quincee33

THAT'S THE POINT. These guys had talent, they had more class. They didn't need to be "dirty", or "hardcore" which is sort of soul-killing. Too bad you got blinded by the crap that goes for "comedy" these days-

  • Uptight Johnny Carson banned Charlie from his show. Read Wikipedia on Charlie. Apparently Charlie got overly nervous { you can tell Charlie was high-strung anyway, so I don't know why Carson was so humorless }, anyway, Charlie ended up shoving Carson to try to get a laugh. Carson didn't think it was funny. Charlie was a genius.

  • You can see who " Father Guido Scarducci " was inspired from {on Saturday Night Live }, I hope they gave Charlie Callas some credit since they were clearly influenced by him. Notice too, how everyone is funny without being lewd and overly crude ? The good old days. Actual talent.

  • @cubomania3 i agree this is much better than crap of today, but i do not agree totally about material, as alot of the jokes are extremely racist...! just shows how not so far removed we are from ignorance..

  • @arlichar11 thata part uv tha humour ya shcmuck!

  • @arlichar11

Its NOT racist, back in the day people joked about EVERYBODY. Now, these days its uptight as hell. Everyone's scared to "offend". Don Rickles for instance, used to insult EVERYONE. Including Jews. And Don is a Jew. Get it ? I can vouch for it at my age, back then we were more cool than today. People "got it" back then, they were just JOKES. They were funny BECAUSE they were outrageous. The whole point was to have a sense of humor. To be able to laugh at yourself.

  • @kyokogodai

it's ok, I wasn't offended. Thanks for removing it though,

    :)

  • @cubomania3 Ya because the roasts these days are so politically correct? Give me a break, have you heard the things jeff ross and greg giraldo say?

  • @eleventhsun roasts now adays may be the only place one could get away with such edgy humor. But there are taboos that even they won't touch. And they're not nearly as funny as the classics.

  • @lordofnightmares I agree, the older roasts were based on timing and wit while nowadays are about hurling the worst insults possible. Also I notice they seem more written now then they used to, leading me to believe a lot of the jokes are rehearsed

  • @eleventhsun

YES, and a lot of people don't "get" what we are trying to say. I'm guessing they are maybe 20 years old too.

  • @cubomania3 don still shits on everyone that comes to see his act in vegas.

  • @cubomania3 I'm black and if you look at the video when Red Buttons roasted Ali, the things he said back then, he would get burned at the stake for. I was laughing my ass off. I'm black and I LOVE Black jokes. They're just funny as hell. I tell Black jokes ALL THE TIME. Screw being politically correct.

  • In their nightclub act, Dean Martin on stage used to lift up Sammy Davis Jr. i his arms, and say "I would like to thank the NAACP for this award." Today Dino would probably have his career ruined for doing something like that.

  • @Mpoconnor7

yes its too bad, part of it also has to do with the people who crack such jokes. Dean Martin was a good man who had a Black friend, Sammy Davis ! So if Dean couldn't make a joke like that, who could ?1 Sammy thought it was hysterical.

  • Respond to this video... I agree, if it is said with love, a few people might not understand that though ! For instance SAmmy Davis, his friends could say that, Sammy thought it was funny, and they would all make fun of each other. They all were aware too, that it was funny only because they all were aware how rude it was.

  • @cubomania3 Apparently you haven't watched modern stand up. There are a lot of comedians not afraid to offend people. Just watch Tosh.0 for crying out loud.

  • @jstutz2003 NO........APPARENTLY I HAVE. Modern stand up tends to be overkill, overly rude, and nothing like these old time comics with their personalities, timing and real talent. Not that aren't good comics today---and by the way , you are referring to something I said to someone who was all bent out of shape about people like Don Rickles. Don;t mix yourself up.

  • Chris Rock is very funny, but every other word out of his mouth is the N word or the F word, and his routines would be every bit as funny without the use of those words. I guess I must be in the minority, but I get offended ANYTIME somebody uses the N word, regardless of color..

  • @Mpoconnor7

? as far as comics I like, none of them ever said that--------not even Don Rickles

  • @cubomania3 I can remember on the roast where Don Rickles was roasting Lorn Green..Both Jews and they were cutting up like the black folks call each other niggas....

  • @stoughton1 , really ? ok, well still, it was Don Rickles. Since his history is that he makes fun of everyone including himself, it's still Don Rickles and as far as I'm concerned he's ok

  • @cubomania3

I agree with cuboamania3...Try to use these jokes today, and there would be lawsuits galore. If you notice back then the comedians didn't use foul language to try to get laughs like they do today..

  • @rjsmth , Yes it was cool back then. Now, not so much.

  • @cubomania3 You're absolutely right; these were funny and unless one was a bozo, no one was offended; it's amazing how far backwards gone.

  • @cubomania3 Yes grampa, we know. We wouldn't know comedy if it bit us on the tuchis. Now take your meds, you're scaring the company.

  • @sadeviant I'm hardly old or a "grandpa", maybe as much as you are a little a-hole who's parents are calling him-------------?

  • @cubomania3 GRAMPA PLEASE TAKE YOUR PILLS YOURE SCARING US!!!! ;_;

  • @cubomania3 lol grampa u mad

  • mr carlos capachinno hahahhaha nothing like this today...
