never saw this - great thanks- ps the special efx seem completely out of place for such a heartfelt song- seems more the stage lighting for dpeche mode
was this version with the violin on an actual studio album? If so, please do let me know which one it is on. It's funny all these songs were released when I was a 2-year old. I was born a decade or two too late I suppose.
This is such a beautiful version of this song. Valentino brings such great talent to the plate but in a sense I feel it makes the song sound more sad and yet, romantic. Thank you TSC.
Paul "The Man" Weller sings : " I wished we´d wake up one day and everybody feel moved" so sincere so authenticis an echo of Muhammad Ali´s Poem: "Me,We" the shortest poem in the english language.and one day when this life ends and on the day of jugement ends i believe it will be Paul Weller not any politico "walking hand in hand to the promised land" with all those who loved him for being so sincere so clear and yes so forceful

it amazes how videos show up like these, that you didn't know existed, you have a fantastic collection of fantastic weller aceface, and this is classic. the live version at the brixton academy in 91 by paul weller movement shows how this fantastic song, performed in 2 completely different ways, still hits the spot,
Thanks aceface1969 for posted this classic version with Bobby Valentino. I was quite dismayed a while back when this same posting had been removed. Cheers mate!
I love the original studio version of this song, with the guitars and horns, but this more intimate format does better justice to the wistful lyricism of this exquisite bit of songwriting. 5 stars.
it still annoys me that in the current revisionism of Weller's career that TSC still arn't taken seriously enough... he DIDN'T 'lose it' at this point! he wrote some of the best songs of his career for that band - and this is a damn good example, and a wonderful version too!
remember this when it was aire some 15-20yrs ago -recorded it on vhs and played it for ages then lost it - never thought I'd see it again - good work, best version
the violin and piano contrast beautifully and with PW vocals this has to be one of the old forgotten classics. Absolutely loved it and demands far more views.
I can't believe I looked for this today and you posted it yesterday! This is my absolute favorite Style Council/ Paul Weller song. The best version. Thank you, thank you!! Seeing PW next week- can't wait...

This is the best arrangement of this song. I love it either way, but this is amazing.

The most under rated singer/musician/lyricist/songwriter in history. He's right behind Lennon/McCartney, Bowie in my opinion.

The piano and vocal arrangement is on Cafe Bleu, track 6. I'm sure the violin was just a live thing.

Daylight turns to moonlight - and Im at my best
Praising the way it all works - gazing upon the rest
The cool before the warm
The calm after the storm
I wish to stay forever - letting this be my food
But Im caught up in a whirlwind and my ever changing moods
kenjryker 2 years ago
Bitter turns to sugar - some call a passive tune
But the day things turn sweet - for me wont be too soon
The hush before the silence
The winds after the blast
I wish wed move together - this time the bosses sued
But were caught up in the wilderness and an ever changing mood
kenjryker 2 years ago
Teardrops turn to children - whove never had the time
To commit the sins they pay for through - anothers evil mind
The love after the hate
The love we leave too late
I wish wed wake up one day - an everyone feel moved
But were caught up in the dailies and an ever changing mood
kenjryker 2 years ago 3
Evil turns to statues - and masses form a line
But I know which way Id run to if the choice was mine
The past is knowledge - the present our mistake
And the future we always leave too late
I wish wed come to our senses and see there is no truth
In those who promote the confusion for this ever changing mood

That violin solo was really cool variation.
I just read he's got a new 2-CD release as of August 25, 2008 ...
Such a brilliant artist very overlooked in USA, can't understand why... but most likely because he's prob not interested in traditional marketing
