  • Still not flexible enough for this kick . Damn.

  • can u make a video on how to get your kind of flexibility....i want to stretch but im scared i might be doing it completely wrong...

  • @itssohardtomakeaname well its kinda odd if your working on your flexibilitie and believe your doind it wrong, for example, to gain flexibiltiee just train two splits, the side splits and front split but becarful you don't want to end up like me with a muscle tear on your hamstring, always warm up arround 30 min then work on your flexbilitie, ghold everystretch from 30 secs or more, every day, that's all :D gg later

  • all great points guys. I promised myself that i wouldn't teach this technique due to the landing percentage, Ive used them before with great success, however i strongly advise against them for self defense , this kick requires much more skill than a simple low round, high round or front push kick. Im now inspired to share my version of this kick. i will film this week end and have it posted by tues of this week. explaining how to generate massive torque, accuracy, and NOT telegraphing.

  • You really need excellent flexibility to pull this properly... I have 110% max flexibility even tho I've worked my ass off for it... it would be so cool doing this kick if only I had more flexibility

  • this kick is advance than the 1st one.. i use this type of kick [the 2nd version] for two purposes whenever i use it in a competition or sparring in Taekwon-Do.. the first one is that the pushing method that shows like a turning/spinning side/back kick.. then the 2nd is that after stretching my foot the 2nd movement is hooking/clipping my foot..

  • which one is more powerful version 1 or 2?

  • Awesome, thanks for posting!

  • I like the vid, but for a tutorial shouldn't you be explaining what your doing then just doing it?

  • this is one of the best video of this kick i have ever seen. very nice demo, thanks!

  • This guy never looks at where he is throwing his kicks!

  • This is a turning full moon man...

  • This kick is more the one I was taught in karate. The version 1 seems more like a Muay Thai kick as it was swung like a bat similar to the muay thai angle kick. Personally I find both versions useful in different situation.

  • This is faster version?

  • @fasy16 weaker one

  • thanks broww

  • nice kick man , i am having really hard time getting this kick right and i love this kick

  • Yes, THIS is the kick I've been lookin for. I've ALWAYS wanted to learn this move. I just love this kick. Thanks man, finally somebody put it up.

  • Fantastic tutorials. Thank you.

  • ok i think version 1 is better for first learning the hook kick but version 2 looks like its more effective

  • Thanks man, good training!

  • I like ur video and the kick is great but i think if u make another one it would be better with music, but thats ur choice if u want to or not

  • Thats pretty good teaching a non telepathic kick. I have seen others on here that don't teach that. I'm a pro leg kicker myself 10 th dan. Nice work.

  • It teaches non telegraphed not "non telepathic" kicking technique.

Although telepathicly being able to tell someone your going to hook kick them would be cool, if not useless.

  • gotta whince when he hits those two large sagging bags there

  • version 1 is more tkd, while 2 is karate. i learned 2 in karate and my tkd friend goes more by version 1

  • great form and execution. 5 stars

  • TIGER!!!

  • hes just raising his leg to do a sidekick then bringing it around. its called a spinning hook kick. spin.

  • that is more of a hook...better then version 1 which was more cresent

  • He's fucking good

ivse05 I would love see you doing better than him ..

keep practising man, you're fast :)

  • thanks....

  • This is my version, since it is faster and more effective that version 1. You can just kick it straight instead of going all the way around and then kick.

  • Bad technique.

  • He is not watching in attack direction, fucking amateour

  • This version seems faster but weaker than the first version. The first one is used a lot in k-1.

  • What I like about this video is that it's right to the point, not wasting time, showing the outfit... like others do. Nice, I'm good at using my right leg for this technique but always had trouble for my left one. Now I'm trying to fix both.

  • how long did you practise to do this?

  • trying to learn this kind of kick, whats the difference between a reverse hook, reverse cresent and reverse turning kick ? thanks

  • idk what u mean by reverse turning kick, i probably call it something else, but the differernce between a reverse hook and cresent is that u keep ur leg straight for the cresent while for the hook, u snap/hook ur leg back.

  • reverse hook=you hit with your heel and swing across the target.

reverse cresent=hit with the side of your foot and your leg stays straight.

reverse turning kick=you push through the target

  • I would like to phrase it this way,

The reverse hook is basically what this guy is showing right here,

and the crescent kick is where use the leg that is farther away from the target, and turn in the reverse direction like this guy does, only, you use the outer part or side of your foot,(not the heel) so you're facing towards the target when you land the kick.

And reverse turning kick, is just reverse turning with a kick in it :D

  • this is glaube feitosa

  • haha this is the only kick i knew how to do almost flawlessly from the start,i have to learn though

  • looks like a sidekick

  • Lol what sidekicks have you seen?

A side kick is usually directed at the chest and stomach and it isn't a spinning motion either.

  • is not a sidekick

  • I love this guys videos. He demonstrates the techiniques almost flawlessly. The strikes are always shown several times and slowed down from all angles. Also, he doesnt waste time talking. There are too many "tutorials" on youtube where people just want to show people their skill and hear themselves talk.

    Nice video, please post more.

  • good one dude, I totally agree with you :-)

  • Good kick. I teach the hip to lead a bit more and kick at the point of greater torque. Nice ball of the foot to the heel wave of the supporting leg.

  • I don't get it, why would someone in any situation stand there not doing anything long enough for the person they're fighting to do this? what use is it?

  • its most common use is as a counterattack, though you need to have quick reflexes to use it effectively

  • youtube,com/watch?v=bDozkCWqYIA

replace the comma with periods and watch that video. There's your answer.

Either that or search for a TKD KO video and you'll see some land. Or you could watch the Human Weapon episode where they go to Korea for TKD and Bill gets knocked out by it.

Or for a beautiful spinning hook kick, look up "Serkan Yilmaz"

Like dongjinkim said, it's best used as a counter. Sometimes it can be used offensively though.

  • by the way, I was replying to RagdollPhysics

  • thank you, that was really helpful. It just looks like if you used it to attack in most situations it'd put you in a really unstable and vunerable position for little return. I think I understand it's application a little better now thanks.

  • Glad I could help. It's a difficult kick to use and takes a lot of practice. You either time it just as someone is moving into you or just as they're throwing a kick.

Also look up Cung Le. He has landed a few of these in his career. One thing both he and Serkan Yilmaz are good at is feinting with a jab and throwing the kick immediately after (this can also be done with a turning back kick).

  • you should look up Badr hari vs stefan leko. Badr Hari setup this kick with a one-two then spinning heel kick ko. another way to setup this kick is to throw a miss leading hook punch and follow through with the spinning heel kick. This kick is deceiving because half the time it's hard to tell wether it's a spinning back kick to the ribs or a spinning hook to the head.

  • i wander what movie you have just watched......hmmmmmmmm

  • very nice

    thanks

  • this one is MUCH better than the first. The first version is much more telegraphed, however it is easier than this version (2nd).

  • Nice man show us some more, post some combos

  • I actually have to disagree with every single point you just made. Sorry.

  • Your choice. But anyone with deep understanding of modern TKD sparring kicking and traditional TKD kicking knows my points are valid. And these points are not just my personal opinion but widely accepted by Korean TKD masters.

  • Or watch anyone of "professional" TKD'er perform a spinning hook. Trained eyes can pick up all the points I've made.

  • sry, im a tkd instructor, and i have to disagree with u too.

the guy knows what he's doing, i think u just are searchin for criticism but, its not placed properly.

  • Okay, so you think a hook kick shouldn't be parallel to the floor, have no hip snap, arms wide out and spin 270 degrees. An awesome hook kick that sounds like

  • about the parallel to the floor that is "optional" to the situation if an opponent is much taller you will not hit the chin you will hit the shoulder about the rest you said I cant give my opinion on that

  • more angular velocity the quicker and more powerful. Im no martial artist but wouldnt it be better to to swing your leg parralel to the floor, rather than just kicking frontwards then twisting?

Anyways great vids im learning a lot on my body opponent bag, thanks

  • sorry but you r wrong. the kick will be powerful, but slower in theory, thats 1.

Then, there is no way human body can make this kind of motion anyway. I mean how the hell you make spin parralel to the ground? :D no way :)

If you want more power to this kick, you can study first version video, however it has two minuses, its way easier to block, and it is slower.

check up on heel and spinning heel kicks, if you want to avoid that circular hooking motion.

but I prefer this vid, best shit

  • @kyryllo

i don't know why you get so much annoying feedback. I think your kicks are nice and clean and have great technique. I have been doing martial arts over 15 years.

I like your videos... great job

  • post a better video buddy.

  • @aerokicker

This one I think looks cooler, there's more flexibility and height of the kick- the better he can condition himself to quickly recover, I find that moving the thigh past the body throws me off balance- but this can be corrected- focus on perfecting the arm movements and how they flow with the landing to stabilize both height, balance, and spin of the kick.

  • @aerokicker i understand what you're saying.. what you're saying is something like a Taekwon-Do principle of doing this kick.. but still you cant say that he's wrong and yours is better.. just like master Yuan of Wushu [w/c played by Jet Li in the film Fearless], he said that there's actually no great martial art. what important is the way the practitioner or martial artist do it and how disciplined he is.. =DD

  • nice kicks !

  • Thank's for the lesson, but I have a question. The kick has a point where is hit, or the kick is circular and havent a percise point?

  • What precision! OMG!

  • @ralphyboy1- Look how he hooks it at the end?

Maybe that's why the kick is called a hook kick, that comes from a spin, hence the title.Moron. And there's no power in it because it's a one of the weaker kicks, not his technique. Anyone with good training know's this. I suggest paying attention if have lessons, maybe you will learn something like respect.

  • thank you for the video .can you please keep on posting more videos it would be greatly appreciated.

  • damn good technique

  • Thanks for posting this video man. I have a belt test on saturday and this is one of my main techniques, and i wasn't sure if i was doing it right, and this vid gave me good pointers. Thanks man..

  • i honestly prefer the version 1, ur version 1 is great i can use it for my taekwondo

  • I used this in a Muay Thai bout.

It didnt knock him out, but it gave him a wicked cut down his forehead

  • i always use my right leg and arm like normal but i cna only spin kick with my left foot? should i try to learn to do it with my right so i dont have to switch stance before i kick?

  • Being ambidextrous is never wrong.

  • I tried practising with my right foot and found it better than my left so i think i'll stick to that as it will be easier with my stance

  • Don't become dependent on your right side, though. When the time comes, you'll be in a situation where you've GOTTA use that left leg, and it just won't work like the other one.

  • @kyryllo hell yeah its awesome!!!

  • Just one suggestion: more you bend down, less you develop power.....

  • Wouldn't be hard with that attitude, you obviously focus more on being a giant douche bag and becoming the figure that the rest of the world hate America for rather then respecting yourself and others. Thanks for being the biggest shithead I've ever met.

  • which part of my leg should i stretch to be able to kick that high?

  • um...

both? your standing on one leg while the other one is in the air. as your lifting that kicking leg to kick your basically doing the splits sideways..doing that you are going to feel on both sides of your crotch..LOl

  • karate? karate doesnt have hook kicks...well in not in that form in the video thats TKD ..and i feel that if you faced that guy in real life you would piss your pants and would not be able to talk shiet ..so enjoy talking bs behind your wall/screeen

  • Not correct, Karate do use this kick, Try seaching for Ushiro mawashigeri..

  • Shut your mouth kid, if you knew any discipline you'd know respect. You're nothing compared to this guy, he's probably put years into this sport, I bet you're just another douche who's walked into a gym and thinks he knows everything about the martial art. You've got a long way to go.

  • BOW TO YOUR SENSEI !

  • i dont think he does karate looks more like tkd look how he hooks it at the end i only see tkd people do that.

  • my favorite kick in tkd. nice control and balance.

  • omg wheres his guard?

    serioulsy

  • its a spinning KICK tutorial, hes not fighting the 300 spartans right now. ease up a bit.

  • But he should hold his guard, even if he's not fighting against the 300 spartans. Holding guard during exercises makes habit. It's very important because you will not forget about it during real fight. So... it's not necessary but he should.

  • You'll actually notice, experienced TKD sparrers leave their hands free. They don't waste the energy keeping the hands up, it's an experience thing I guess. Watch Olympic Sparring matches, most people who don't know TKD say "no guard," but it's unnecessary when TKD is about reacting, and guarding with your arms against kicks of that type is going to do no good, except maybe actually break your arms. Blocking kicks with the arms is asking for trouble, just slide back or sidestep, use movement.

  • ROFL

  • sometimes at sanc on a friday night i go fucking crazy and pop 11 fuckin' E's! i'm such a mad hatter blaad!

  • thats very very bad for you someday your going to regret that and on that day your going to regret it alot

  • this looks like a back kick with the follow through of a hook kick

  • back spin kick

    1st back

    2nd spin

thats the kick - its faster than his "version 1" of the kick because in this ver he's not swinging so much

  • this is the version that we use in WTF taekwondo.. at least that's what I've been taught to do. Bring your knee up and kick it out and across..with your foot extended

  • Your kicks in this tuturial are much better than those of your first one. You had a strong whip to your kick in your first one, but you lacked the snap on impact. In this one you had that, which adds a lot more power to your kick. Five stars!!!

  • Can you do the same method with a regular hook kick? Side kick into a hook kick. Can I?

  • thanks for the help i think got it now

  • i ave to snap out of spinning on my toes all the time instead of my heal loll

  • Mate theres two version on this kick, hes doing a great job with both, have you got a vid on here to show how perfect you are.

  • don't post shit like this,likely you've been drunken while writing this,right?

  • i like how everyone is giving you thumbs down but really you are right his technique makes it so theres no power in it hes doing a typical chamber than spin hook you get no power in that.

  • i tryed but evrytime i get half way i loose my balence plzz help

  • if you are losing your balance spinning faster will help. make sure you turn your head to see your target and youturn your upper body first. if you turn your upper body first your legs will follow. im pretty good at this kick and that is what i do

  • personally I think if someone is losing their balance while doing this kick they need to work on balance. Doing it faster is just a way to not have to rely on your balance for as long as you would need to if you did it slower. White belts tell me the same thing when I tell them to slow down their round kicks and work on technique, they say, "i do it better when i go fast." But slower will build more control muscles and balance and technique

  • Maybe you're crossing your legs or lining them up on one line or something romkca? You're supposed to step over to the side instead of stepping right behind your other leg. For beginners, I think stepping wide to the side might help(but not too wide). Or using more speed.

  • powerful

  • good kick, but hands are down before every kick.

  • yeah its prolly just a bad habit. XD you can do it with your hands up =p

  • lol i actually hit someone with that kick when sparring he was down for 5 seconds

  • Nasty kick!! Take your bloody head off if it connected. I reckon this one has more power than No. one

  • I'm not trying to talk shit but, my Sensei told me that if you guys want to do a spinning hook kick, it has to be fast or it won't help you...and people have to quit criticizing the people in the videos...

  • Right on, I found a fast way to do it is to pivot immediately with the standing foot, then shoot. Not to swing oneself around like a doll; I like these videos, they are good for tips and visualization. Great counter-kick.

  • definently true. if the kick is to slow you lose balance and have no power. and criticizing makes you better at criticizing not kicking

  • kinda like this one better than version one, this is how i learned it from my kyo karate friend..

  • Hook kick is also used to take a good gaurd and throw it down. If you say that hook kick is useless than you haven't trained enough and with the right people

  • u know what i dont get, is how everyone talks like there some sort of master. Don't lie ppl, u guys don't even take martial arts. you just read this stuff from a sparring manual, or a book. and be nice to this guy, he actually has a really good kick, i c nothing wrong about it. It might look like hes gonna hit u with the flat side, but he actually hammers u with his heel. He's just trying to help other ppl. be nice.

  • I agree with you.

  • Amen.

  • lol i bet that ur kicks suk even more i think you cant even do a roundhouse kick xD

  • bottom of foot - practice sparring. Or any other situation where you really don't want to bust someone's face.

heel - when you want to break someone's face really bad.

this is how I was taught. You don't have to break someone's face unless it is really necessary.

  • the way he does it is alot smarter then yours. cuzz with his way, if your opponent backs off a bit, and you cant get him with your heel you will still hit him with your foot.

  • For those that can't think and if you must know, this is a finishing kick. I would throw this kick after the many punches to the nose, muay thai kicks to the inner thigh, elbows to the ears and jaw and knees to your one ball and solar plexus. This kick would come out just before you're about to pass out. Go ahead, say that I can't throw it in a real fight.

  • As a finisher ?? Maybe a jumping back kick to the jaw would be faster and better .... lol

  • Seem like you know real fight wow.. Still you have to learn about martial arts. This is a sport kick not a real fight. In a real fight for survive every true martial artist will go for groin, balls, eyes, ears, throat... that's the way and there is nothing nice to see a fingered eye or a damanged eardrum. Still they are practical. So is a nonsense saying "not pratical for real fight" on a kick used for sport this just show that you are talking of nothing you really know.

  • deff hjeel

  • do you hit with the heel or the bottom of your foot?

  • The heel will cause more trauma to the target. The bottom of the foot would be more of a hard slap.

  • i was taught you could use both but you would tend to try for the heal

  • yaeh with the heel you hit harder...but my taekwondo trainer tels me that hitting with the heel is bad for your knee

  • true but so is not knocking your opponent out and risking him breaking your knee too. Use your heel just right once and it shouldn't damage you too badly. Also, training and conditioning will prevent this.

  • thats why you shouldn't extend your leg completely. The force will go into your muscle instead of the joint

  • for light point sparring, the bottom of your foot. for full contact, the heel.

  • awesome! I like this version better than the other one... I feel too slow when I do it the other way.

  • they teach the 3rd version then in my tkd school, it start like a back kick instead

    (like a horse kick)

  • is this french kicking skill?

  • TKD more likely or Kyokushin.

  • this is the more practical but less flashy version of the kick i like that you show both for demonstrations and things like sparring.

  • I use this combo version after I use the older version in a combo. It confuses and throws your opponent off-guard. Plus with the kicking leg (version 2) going to the inside as oppose to the version 1 spin leg kick, at the last moment you can change it into a spin-back kick.

  • Damn u get ALOT of power into that man..

everytime i try to put alot of power into it.. i end up slipping and falling xD.. u sooo good!

  • the tecnique in version # 2 is the best. is done perfecly. the person doing the kick is super good.

  • im not a master at it or anything lol but i was taught to not try and put a lot of power into my kicks, instead get the technique right and then speed it up. The faster the kick the more powerful it is anyway and in a fight your going to wanta lot o speed in your kicks.

  • hm, i wonder how Lechi Kurbanov is doing his back kick...

  • this kick is cool and better then version 1

  • COOOL COOOOL

  • OH FUCK THAT WAS GOOD.

  • very cool kick

  • wow... it's a real good back hook. I bet if anyone get kicked like that he might lose a few of his tooth.

  • I wouldnt lose my teeth, they'll get stronger

  • put some audio in these and they might be good , explain it

  • its not just a tae kwon do technique its also used it kickboxing, muay thai and karate , it just has a different name , personally i think it was well executed . well done , and i think its a good idea that people put these tutorials on here , but depending on who is gonna use , whether they wanna use it to learn or to try and kill .the old saying go's with power comes responsibility (spiderman lol)

  • ohh..shit man.

just recover man. take time off from tkd. even if it takes months.

  • its been 2 years now feels much better, but i still go easy cause im getting into mma soon
