  • I only knew coolio's version now I know the original one thanks wikipedia

  • @youngthugga87 Me too ^^'

  • im not taking the piss or anything but can i just ask how does he right songs

  • I am a fan of Weird Al. I desided to listen to listen his "Amish Paradise" I fell in love with the music. I found out what he was parodying, that took me to Coolio and "Gangsta's Paradise" and the video description sent me all the way back to Stewie Wonder. Now I know where this.. heavenly music comes from. I love it in all three songs.

  • @6447912 "Gangsta's Paradise" video description sent me all the way back to Stewie Wonder too... I love both, I'll listen to the parody late if you say you love it it may be cool :)

  • 7 emo kid has disliked this... how to dislike a relaxing music like this.. really hard to dislike it..

  • @LegendaryRespawns im sorta "emo" but i still listen to stevie wonder... stop stereotyping moron

  • gangsta's paradise was not meant to be like past time paradise it was a reply from what stevie was singing about but 10-15 years on. and werid al is just funny :)

  • its fucking good ... damn !!!!!

  • The instruments are marvelous. Stevie does a great job at including the violin, congas, drums, and the live chorus towards the end. What a great end to a song. Stevie Wonder has a unique way of bringing life to a song.

  • masterpiece

  • Amish paradise?

  • coolio! gangstas paradise

  • awesome song :DDD

  • weird al SOOO did this song better than coolio and stevie wonder.....

  • @CatieBug1998 screw you al did better than coolios but stevies version is way better

  • Dangit, I came here thinking you had lyrics. Oh, still an amazing song.

  • I need my dictionary

  • Nice song !

  • BEST 70'S SONG!!!!

this was made in the 70's,right?

  • Shout out to all my Vaishnava's out there!!!

    2:38-3:13 you can hear:

HARE KRISHNA, HARE KRISHNA, KRISHNA KRISHNA, HARE HARE. HARE RAMA, HARE RAMA, RAMA RAMA, HARE HARE.

    God bless Stevie Wonder =D

  • 1. past time paradise

    2. Gangstas paradise

    3. Amish paradise

     ALL VERY GOOD!!!!!! XD

  • @ocramencew agree.

  • @ocramencew Amish Paradise beats the living fuck out of Gangsta's Paradise

  • @CoreyL11 no fckin' way!

  • @CoreyL11 and Pastime Paradise beats the living fuck out of Gangsta's Paradise.

  • I love this song

  • this is a good song

  • I think with Stevie Wonder and Coolio's versions were suitable with each generation. Because from what I take from it was that Stevie wonder was talking about race issues and the turmoil in the U.S with teens during the 70s. While Coolio talks about the violence in gang ridden cities and what teens are going through today. Again this is what I take from it

  • i love when he said "tell me who of them will come to be,How many of them are you and me"

  • Seriously, way ahead of his time! We love Stevie Wonder !!PEACE!!

  • So ahead of his time...You Rock Stevie...

  • @marchingtrojans what ahead of his time? Real music BELONGS to his (this) time!!! Nowadays you only hear covers and samples and remakes. Don't under-estimate the music of 70's and 80's!

  • Original is better bitches

  • this is thi original song writer then coolio did the gangsters paradise then tupac did the cover

  • @eskobus Don't forget Amish Paradise by weird al...

  • Any one can get me the Instrumental version i will apreciate it

  • Fenerbahce champion...

  • Best version and the original cut

  • read the lyrics to this and thought immediately "That's goin in the playlist!"

  • I Like In Fear And Faith's Screamo Version of Gangster's Paradise, ._.

  • best version of this song is tupacs to be honest i think, but this is still one of the best version, way better than coolios.

  • tupac never did this song fucko!

  • yes he did you fucking idiot

  • no he didnt dumb fuck!!

  • its called gangster paradise you fucking dopey cunt. type it in and fuck off

  • its a fanmade remix fucko!! he never did gangsters paradise

  • @Jonny69erWithYourMum

    thats coolio not 2pac

  • It was coolio you wank

  • @Jonny69erWithYourMum

that was the vocals of one song and put it on gangster paradise instrumentals

  • This song is the original and its too damn nice!!

  • I think you are mistaking.

Stevie Wonder is the songwriter here.

This song was first published in "Songs in the Key of Life" in 1976.

The cover by Ray Bareto was published in "La Cuna" in 1979.

I admit it's a great cover, but Stevie's the One ! (just like Neo)

  • so let me get this straight: Coolio's Gangsters paradise is a remake of Stevie wonder's past time paradise; and Stevie wonder's past time paradise is a remake of Ray Baretto's past time paradise...then who did Ray remake it from?

  • the original song is from ray barreto...

althouthg i like very much stevie and his version the original is better, has ``swing``

  • what year was barretos song released?

  • DULL PERSON

  • Everybody just shut the hell up and enjoy the beautiful music....DAMN!!

  • @knice1895 Thanks man coolio came out wit gangstas paradise

  • Eminem has a Freestyle Manual? I'm off fellas to search for it. LOL the insulting comments here are so amusingly stupid.

  • coolio came out in 1995 wonder came out in 1975 probabaly the year coolio was born lol

  • coolio is older than 34 im pretty sure an stevie wonders been about since 1961 so you don't know what your talking about , clearly.

  • I'm only 14 but I loooooooove this song !!!!!!!

    I love stevie wonder !!!!

  • Not old enough to have known this before the Coolio shit. When I heard this, Coolio broke my heart. He became the entire family who's 10 year old stole my cash, and then her family tried to beat me up for taking it back. F-you, Coolio, you set a bullshit precedent. wish you the worst, race AND class traitor. "Gangsta" F-off, write your own damn songs. We love you Stevie.

  • Very nice joint

  • It was just sad to see a mediocre artist like coolio did a version based on a legend or god in music. Only good artists should be allowed to do remakes or revisions. we wouldnt let madonna do the greatest love of all but would allow Jennifer Hudson to. Ill always love you from Dolly to Whitney etc

  • Nice, someone knows what they're talking about.

  • WRONG

  • really? wow i dint no that. so stevie wonders came out first? damn and i loved that gangsetrs paradise song i that it was the original

  • It does not matter, Weird Al's version of this (Amish Paradise) is better.

  • wat?! weird al's? ur sick for saying that

  • Just kidding.

  • its called sampling its an art

it takes talent to hear something and remake it sure its less original but still raw

coolio just made it into hip hop nothing wrong with that!!

  • An art? How is it art?

No other artist takes another's work, changes it just a little bit, and calls it their own. In most cases, that's copyright infringement.

  • in most cases the artist usually hears a song and automatically has an idea what to do with it changing it a little bit is different than taking the song chopping it up speeding it up or slowing whatever fuckin wit the trebles and makign it sound differentyl and making a whole different song

when i sample records and u hear the finished product u cant even tell what song i took it from

in this case its just been made into a hip hop version which is pretty good if u ask me

  • you're a fool. I bet you love cover versions dont you. I'm sure old artists are delighted to get their songs sampled...free money if nothing else.

I would never know about this song if it wasn't for the coolio sample and now i search for Stevie Wonder songs. It increases awareness of old songs and that can only be a good thing. Make sense now Don-g? sssssssshh.

  • haha because nobody EVER gets paid for a sample, wow... hip-hop's roots are in sampling, so deal with it, buttercup

  • Which is why hippity hop sucks the fcking dick. It is not music. There is nothing musical about 72% of rap/hip-hop.

Please, go listen to real music. Stuff with notes, harmonies, and melodies, and other important stuff...like talent, originality and technical skill. Laying a 'phat beat' over another recording requires very little skill.

  • OR! Stop sounding like a bitter middle-ager and listen to the other 28% of hip-hop... like most of Eminem's "The Eminem Show," loaded with quality original compositions, for example...

  • The problem is that the other 28% is also lyric-centric. As for Eminem:

"..So come on and dip, bum on your lips fuck that, cum on your lips and some on your tits and get ready cuz this shit's about to get heavy I just settled all my lawsuits Fuck YOU DEBBIE!"

A real fucking master of the English language. I'd rather see some real TALENT than the ability to rhyme. I'm looking for music, not some white trash, drugged-out fuck shitting out of his mouth. Yea, it's catchy, but so is AIDS.

  • Only a self-pandering, sanctimonious jackass would pick a club single to analyze the lyrical content of a rapper... then again, you don't know much about the genre in the first place, so bless your simple heart for trying in the first place...

  • You recommended the artist and the album. Tell me, sir, which song I should have used to understand the musical genius that is Marshall Mathers. Nice cut to personal insults when the argument is about music. If the music can't argue for itself, it is garbage.

  • haha ok, with that logic, I can shit all over ANY body of work and claim that the music didn't speak for itself... funny how the ones who claim to see the most are really the blindest, I hope you're not this "holier-than-thou" in real life, or else... well, you prolly don't HAVE a real life.

BTW, find the mixtape "Eminem: The Freestyle Manual" to hear Em workin his craft at his highest level. Like you'll even look for it tho hah, fuck off...

  • That was just stupid. Actually...

  • Woah, hey, fucking ironic statement you make there: "funny how the ones who claim to see the most are really the blindest..."

The fact that an artist like Kanye West can take a song, tweak the levels, write a poem and speak/sing it to a shitty beat, and not only claims it's an original composition, but can win an award for it is absolute shit. Yea, it's catchy, yea it takes skill to rap, but it doesn't make it good (which is true for most genres, don't get so defensive, buttercup).

  • Even though as hard as I have had to dig for good, tasteful hip-hop, the genre in general is a pile of shit which goes for most of the music industry these days. Hip-hop has shown moments of greatness but honestly I have so little time it really is just not worth the effort nor am I ready to wade through piles of garbage covered in feces.

And when we can get back to discussing the issue rather than hurling pointless insults like a 4 year old who doesn't know better, I'll return to the convo.

  • And your opinion is SO valued and respected... that you offer it for free on the internet for anyone that will read it. Rock bottom's not bad when you never saw the light in the first place, huh? You clearly have so... little... time... you're literally giving your time away killer! I am too, but the difference is, I don't act like a self-pandering, sanctimonious sycophant in the process. Get a life, shit's pathetic, sweetheart...

  • Like I said, little one, when you can return to the conversation about hip-hop and quit slinging insults like a child sitting next to Webster's Dictionary, I'll discuss the issue with you..

Until then, please PLEASE continue listening to the wonderful collection of music you, I'm sure, have and quit filling my inbox with piles of garbage and worthless insults and I will listen to Eminem's Freestyle Manual.

  • Sampling has absolutely nothing to do with making music. They capitalize on the effort of someone else and add their own shitty lyrics on top.

    The pop-monster eats you alive.

  • i love this song <3

  • I like Ray Berretto version just as much as this one

  • greatest song of all time. Thank you Stevie!

  • coolio eat ur heart out lol!

  • as i walk thru the vally where i harvest my grain i take a look at my wife and realise shes vary plain!!

  • *Short, but jerkish shiver* This song is haunting to the point where it's eerie, a bit murky, yet very pronounced. It's a song that sends chills down my spine as if someone poured ice-water down my back. I love this song! Coolio said he's blind, but he sees what people with sight don't see. He sees more into the soul than people with sight see into their own "reality". You can tell by what he said about him that he's got the utmost respect for the guy. I do, too! I grew up with his music. WOO!!

  • why does it matter anyway? both the original and Coolio's own version rox.

  • Gangsta paradise ripped off past time paradise

    Amish paradise parodied gangsta paradise

Dengos paradise ripped off ammish paradise

Each video has name under if want to check out

past time paradise (yes i know its already here

    amish paradise

    Dengos paradise

    gangsta paradise

  • coolio copied this then weird al copied both of them WEIRD AL TRUIMPHS

  • Al usually, though not always, triumphs. In this case, he beat the living crap out of Coolio, yet paid homage to Stevie. That is how W.A. kicks ass. Many times he has worked it so that we don't even need to know the original to appreciate him.

  • Representing Saginaw Michigan!!!!! Stevie is the best.

  • Classic

  • & mde a NUMBA 1 HITTTTT

  • coolio completey copied this.. :S

  • sampled

  • covered

  • beans

  • you know first i saw 'amish paradise' then i found out that "gangster's paradise" was the orignal, i was not surprised cause weird al does that a lot of course, then years later i find this! no offense to Coolio or Weird al but in my opinion this is the best 'version' of that song, stevie wonder is just great

  • Well, I agree with you, Stevie wrote this in 1976, so talented, that he came up with this, but then again, his album, "Songs in the Key of Life" has to be one of the best albums ever.

  • weird al owns

  • so coolio sampled this beat for gangsters paradise asome. the original

  • steive wonder is awsome

  • Mr OBAMA election will help all of us fighting against discrimination and racism.

    Keep the faith.

A white man who loves his black brothers.

  • I sure hope my 'prez O' keeps the faith for class issues. He's not big-out on race (should be a non-issue by now, but isn't). My guy ought to at least put a crack in the system. American dream, my ass.

    "I weep for the future"

  • This is a great contry bitch.

With effort, anyone can do anything.

  • And Oboma is putting the effort into the wrong place...He could save the country, but he isent....

  • never said I was racist against black people, and "who are you to tell anyone what to do?" I take it you like the way the majority of the black people act and live? you won't like it very much when you are in the middle of a crossfire over "turfs" and get shot in the leg

  • i agree w/aliyah. why? cuz "nigger"=epithet. "nigga"=my man, homie, person, etc...

  • YEA HOMIE AMISH ALL THE FUKIN WAY!

  • Gansters Paradise is still better^^

  • listen also the RAY BARRETO - PASTTIME PARADISE

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOORDDDD

  • I think that coolio better put trash on his own things rather than touch a so beautiful song by Stevie Wonder.

It is poetry and no concerning gangsters and things like these.

  • Both Coolio's and Stevie Wonder's song's are bringing up the things that are/were being done to the black and hispanic communities in the U.S. For Stevie Wonder it was the segregation and exploitation. For Coolio, it's the media and government pushing kids towards a life of crime and gangbanging.

It must be easy to criticize from way up there on that pedestal.

  • Probably you're right.

It is a refuse that I have for rap I think.

  • word

  • fuck u u have no idea wat ur talking about!! gangstas paradise is da greatest song ever!!

  • Yes pissass2 you are right from your point of view. It' something concerning tastes: old romans said: "de gustibus non est disputandum" wich mean that we shouldn't discuss about tastes.

  • good as gangsta's paradise

  • this is the original so gangsters paradise wouldnt exist without this song

  • Does nobody know that you can change the blue background in Windows Movie Maker?

  • Thank you Stevie! Ingenious!

  • Shit video, great song... Original is original...

  • amish paradise is funny

  • ill second that!

  • It is funny but I like gangsters paradise by coolio better then them all weird als songs arnt as serious but I usualy like his better

  • i like all 3 versions

  • there is 4 versions one is by ten masked men

  • DIt is zo een fucking vet lied men

  • lol so this is where the genius song of gangsters paradise came from. i think it was transformed quite well.great songs

  • I prefer Stevie's style of singing and his voice but if you had to turn this into rap, Coolio did an amazing job, and even kept the spirit of the song intact. Both versions (yeah, I know, Stevie's isn't really a "version," it's the original) really touch my heart, in slightly different ways.

  • i like amish paradise by weird al

  • believe me... coolios song is rubbish. stevie wonder is the only singer, which has this great voice. and he doesn't sing r'n'b, he created it!

  • Dude! This is the fucking original. And who the fuck gave you rights to criticise the worlds greatest musician? You're fucking pathetic!

  • The REAL "Paradise" song. The ORIGINAL. A classic.

I swear to god, I may kill the next person who tells me I'm listening to Coolio when I listen to this song. Learn your bloody music, damn it.

  • ^ Word

  • WOHOO!! AMAZING! much better than gangsters paradise

  • Great song!

  • la sua voce è decisamente meglio di quella di coolio!!!!!!!anche eprchè lui ha una voce spettacolare!!!e così come le sue canzoni è difficile scordarsi di lui!!!!!!

  • One of Stevie`s best songs from the "songs in the key of life" album!

  • yea i love this song i did a play one time and we had to dance to this song and it was real fun and i just Love Stevie Wonder he is a very good singer

  • ''inmortal song''

  • man coolio stole this song off stevie

  • only the melody stupid

  • Dont worry he paid to get it and maybe Stevie Wonder received more royalties for the sample than Coolio: this is not steal

  • excellent Thank you for posting this especially at this time of year. We spend too much time on the presents and not on the ones we love and our saviour

  • the best!

  • Quite good,
