I can attest to the severity of this stretch of road. I spun out in the summer on the switchback. It wasn't much fun but after the 4th try had enough momentum and traction to make the turn.
looks like nothing i have ever seen here in Florida. i think it was beautiful and thankyou for the ride :)Went to tenn once, it was fall and it was beautiful, i LOVE it.
@skirdhu9 The smokey mountains are in Tennessee, Colorado has the Rocky mountains. I take it our mountain is also called the smokey mountain. But anyway, this looks scary. I've become more shy over the years about driving in snow so I sympathize with ya.
What was bad was the drive up spinning the all-seasons all the way. We were on our way to get plumbing stuff at the Ingonish Home Hardware - we didn't succeed ;) Normally, we have the good sense to stay off the mountain in snow storms - but that day we were just a little stunned. Drive carefully on Smokey this winter folks!
Definitely Eric. - Dad used to work on the Englishtown Ferry so he knows Eric well - we saw him outside the salt truck before we went UP the mountain to get plumbing supplies in Ingonish - we decided to turn back. We wont do that again - spun the all seasons all the way up in the rear wheel drive! Gotta love Smokey.
good music and vid,Im scottish and living in sweden cos of work and the winters are cold and snowy but the summers are scorchio so its all good check out my driving in snow vid aswell as others bikes offroading etc
We HAD just come up there - the snow plow had JUST come up there - that's how fast the snow was falling. We had snow tires front and rear and still spun and slid all the way up. Unfortunately, I didn't have the presence of mind to grabthe camera going up ;)
Wow, that looks just like the drive from Calgary to Golden BC. My knees actually shake when I have to drive in those road conditions. Glad you guys made it safely.
SHH, no more anti-nationalist talk. That's what's wrong with the world. Particularly the US. Too much fear and talk, not enough helping and understanding. Work on that...
It was an honest mistake. They're listening to Southern rock and the first guy to talk had a southern accent. The Great Smokey Mountains are famous in the US. No one here would know Smokey Mountain because it has no significance to us.
That accent is a Cape Breton accent. Similar in some respects to the souther accent mainly because of the influence of people who were displaced to Louisiana area in the 1700s from Nova Scotia.

That's I always make sure to have lots of gas in the tank in the winter-time. You never know how long you'll have to wait for the plow to come by.

Looks like another day on the road in the winter time here in Sweden. Nothing to be afraid of, normal.
fmanh 3 years ago
Also normal in Canada - but not with all-season tires on the rear-wheel-drive light pickup ;)

Perhaps I should make a movie everyday now until april:D
