im an auto body tech. and i have never heard or have seen people put the holes in. but the " V 'ing " of the crack is important .but... yeah forget the stupid holes... oh and he forgot to stuff it with sand paper... so he could use 100 holes...its still going to fall out... oh well...

Holes are so that the filler doesn't fall out as it's got extra place to hold on to.
