man i droped my ipod 2nd gen in the toilet got the white screen but when it dies out i plug it in to the charger it shows the battery and the green poison logo and it shows he status bar in the bottom but then it goes white? is it my lcd or is it more then that i just want to fix it but not sure to buy a lcd and the touch screen help if you can dude? oh yeah i took it apart already.
This shit is stupid. I have never dropped mine and yet today my ipod touch froze went from black and faded white Can't DFU mode, force restart it or even connect to my computer.
@bgarcia1996 Did that never worked. But I did fix it by trying 100 times for correct timing. As soon as my ipod got enough battery to boot it went to white screen however if you time it perfectly you can send it the DFU mode right after it turns on.
@CartickPradeepan mine is doing that too right know and i haven't even dropped it. I Just clicked on one of my apps to play and it wouldn't load and then turned white and has been that way all day. Did you figure out how to fix it?

Im not even joking, throw it on the floor a few times and it works, the whole push the top and the middle button didn't work so i was really stressing out, so just drop it about 10cm about the ground a few times and it will start to work! :)
@rileyisgangsta,@maredphillipsx the problem is that ur battery is kno good...if u have patience then fix it urself but if not send it for repair...one more thing!..leave it for 2-3days of then charge it without forcing it to turn on and hope that helps...
Everyone having the same problem and this aint working iv got the solution. You unplug your iPod, cause its not sinking, and wait for the battery to die. Once dead the iPod will restore automatically, charge up, iPod back to life. Hope i'v helped, thumbs up to pass on message!

You obviously broke the lcd, the part that displays the picture. it's an easy fix, go to ebay, search for ipod touch lcd 2nd gen, filter results to north america only, find the best match, order it. youtube ipod touch take apart directions, and in 30 minutes ur ipod will be back to new again

you need wait for ipod battery to drain out and then recharge it and that works. i did have the same white screen and that worked! TRY THAT!!!!!!!!!!!
That Just happened to my i pod it is probably from pressing the screen so hard. That is what a guy at apple told me. They replaced mine for a brand new one.
If holding the powerbutton and stuff dosent work, you have to take it appart and reconnect the wires going from the display to the insides. but this is like a last resort.

if you need help fixing it just hold the home and power button for ten seconds and it should have the apple logo come on with a grey backround but if that doesnt work then hook it up to your computer and restore it. then if that doesnt work you have to go to the apple store and talk to one of the people there..

If pressing the home+sleep butotn simultaneously for 10 seconds doesn't work, that means you're iDevice has a HARDWARE PROBLEM meaning you damaged your device. Hopefully you have warranty or something because you HAVE TO take it back to the store (unless if you're an expert and can crack the device open and fix it). Otherwise, SUXSSS FORRRR UUUUUUUUUUU!!!! jk :D
I had that exact thing. Some of your system files must have deleted for some reason. That was my case. What I did was just restore to firmware 4.0. That should work.
i jus did it to mine. u have to hold both buttons at the same time. press them at the same time the screen should go black than jus hit the power button thats it
guys the white screen of death isnt a software glitch all the time the other thing is you need open the ipod assuming you have the knowledge on how to do it, what you want to do is make sure your ipod is completely turned off then reinsert the lcd cable located at bottom left next to home button now power up and enjoy, this method is 95% guaranteed, if it doesnt work for you then im sorry buy a burrial site for your ipod.
@uknokianut sorry but like I said first try to replug in that lcd, but if you think its the lcd itself buy from gadgetfix on ebay think cost like $14.00usd oh and if you break the touch digitizer I think it costs like $17.00usd make sure you get it with the home button built in and that you get a set of ipod openning toolset ok good luck and let me know if it worked for you.
@luvie11uk you first have to open it by removing the top digitizer glass (warning) doing so will void your devixe warranty so do this at your own risk. Once opened look at bottom below the lcd display it looks like a little back square pop it up then reattache it good luck.
Here's one way. Just hold down the home button and the sleep/waken button (top left) for like 10 seconds I think, and it should restart. If that doesn't work, you're on your own. I got nothing.

Well.. the motherboard still works which is why you can get screenshots and "use" it normal. It's just the connection between the screen and motherboard is invalid, and the screen goes white. My brother's iPod did that, after he dropped it into soup, so I'm going to buy a replacement screen.

My ipod did the same things that your one is shown to do..... squeeze(quite hard) the bottom of the ipod, to the right of the home button, i kno it sounds dumb but i wrked for me.... and was probably what people wer inadvertantly doing when there smaked it. :)

i am here to help. my phone had the same problem so all i did was, screen facing up smack the back side of ur phone on a table med-hard. make sure u dont smack the screen itll crack. it worked 4 me

@chaydablackq what you have to do is hold both buttons for 15seconds, keep doing this three times. hen hold JUST the top button for three seconds and then press the home button. you should get your home page screen up. sorry if this doesn't work! :)

Same prob. Ended up being a bad connection between LCD and control board. Replaced LCD and fixed problem. Be sure to try hard reset option first.

guys the white screen of death isnt a software glitch all the time the other thing is you need open the ipod assuming you have the knowledge on how to do it, what you want to do is make sure your ipod is completely turned off then reinsert the lcd cable located at bottom left next to home button now power up and enjoy, this method is 95% guaranteed, if it doesnt work for you then im sorry buy a burrial site for your ipod.

@uknokianut sorry but like I said first try to replug in that lcd, but if you think its the lcd itself buy from gadgetfix on ebay think cost like $14.00usd oh and if you break the touch digitizer I think it costs like $17.00usd make sure you get it with the home button built in and that you get a set of ipod openning toolset ok good luck and let me know if it worked for you.

@luvie11uk you first have to open it by removing the top digitizer glass (warning) doing so will void your devixe warranty so do this at your own risk. Once opened look at bottom below the lcd display it looks like a little back square pop it up then reattache it good luck.

Here's one way. Just hold down the home button and the sleep/waken button (top left) for like 10 seconds I think, and it should restart. If that doesn't work, you're on your own. I got nothing.

I pressed the home nd power bottons nd went to the apple logo then it worked but after if i press the sleep botton it goes back to the white sceen. Any one Can Help?

dude u gotta put it in a bag of rice for 1 night, the same ting happend to mine because it got wet and now it works just fiine, rice takes the mositure out of anything

ok this is all you need to do you hold down the power button and the round button in the middle for about 10 seconds then turn it back on. if this doesn't work than thats because you droped it or something like that and it can not be fixed

ok i think i have the same problem..i have tried...everything..WHITE SCREEN..restarting...WHITE SCREEN NO APPLE LOGO...restore...THE SAME...upgrade os...WHITE SCREEN..the funny thing is,when i push home button twice and touch the screen where the play icon supposed to be i still can get the music playin,everything is fine except it is WHITE SCREEN..oh yeah,i got a symptoms like the itouch is heated up like it is ready to blow up...

mine did the same thing. i just held both at the same time. it blinked white and black a few times. but then the apple symbol popped up.

my ipod doesnt completely lock up but sometimes when i wake it up from sleep the screen will be white and unresponsive until i put it asleep again then wake it up.

Well.. the motherboard still works which is why you can get screenshots and "use" it normal. It's just the connection between the screen and motherboard is invalid, and the screen goes white. My brother's iPod did that, after he dropped it into soup, so I'm going to buy a replacement screen.

Maybe put it on itunes and restore it, if the restarting didnt work - its probably the ipod itself.

My ipod did the same things that your one is shown to do..... squeeze(quite hard) the bottom of the ipod, to the right of the home button, i kno it sounds dumb but i wrked for me.... and was probably what people wer inadvertantly doing when there smaked it. :)

u have to gold home botton first then at the same time hold the sleep button and hold both of them untill it turns off then turn it on and it should be working fine

i am here to help. my phone had the same problem so all i did was, screen facing up smack the back side of ur phone on a table med-hard. make sure u dont smack the screen itll crack. it worked 4 me

@chaydablackq what you have to do is hold both buttons for 15seconds, keep doing this three times. hen hold JUST the top button for three seconds and then press the home button. you should get your home page screen up. sorry if this doesn't work! :)
