I got started in homebrewing with coopers extract. There's nothing wrong with it, the beer I made tasted good and everyone I shared it with agreed. I still use it in my partial mashes and it works fine. The yeast is a decent (not great) clean fermenting strain that starts right up. Why be so condescending, it only scares off new comers to the hobby. Extract is one step of the hobby, and that was the stated reason for CraigTube's video on extract only brewing. Relax, don't worry, have a homebrew.

Update: I loved that Scottish 80 so much that I want to the "bike ride away" place. (took two buses) They didn't have all the grains or the hops I needed. So much for "all the grains, all the hops". I bought some Nottingham yeast. They gave it to me in a zip lock baggie. Really? Not vacuum sealed? Best home brew shop in Canada. Lier. I'll use that in my next inmate brew, maybe. I brew all grain and extract, and all grain is not the only way to brew real beer!!! Real beer is beer you can drink, all grain is just another way of doing it. "we'll have your test results back in 6-9 months sir, thank you for your patience". it takes a YEAR to get an MRI in canada. sounds ideal

I've always used the malt in the milk jug and either steeped specialty grains or did a full mash, which ever one I had more time for.

Great video! All very good points. The US health care system, the greatest in the world, is being ruined before our very eyes. No matter who you are, how much you make, what you believe in, you can walk into an emergency room and receive the same care that anyone else can get. It's unfortunate that some think there needs to be a change to that.

LME is does not have specialty grains in it necessarily. Extra light LME is just mashed 2-row and I would think the reg light is as well. It is a base malt product and adding specialty grains is necessary to achieve the style of beer you are shooting for...
also, adding 1.5 oz of Willamette hops will not necessarily make a strong bitter beer. The AA on Wills are low and they will add a level of bitterness but not like a high AA hop would.
But that is beside the point...I wish you would refrain from passing along information you know little to nothing about. u have brewed 2 beers and very few people recommend using hop extracts over real hops...

@JOMalone3113 actually hop extracts are becoming more popular among craft brewers. Its not for the reasons TSA claims but they are being used. The main use is for beers that use tons of hops. You can cut down on the vegetable matter by using extracts. Russian River uses it in both Pliney the Elder and the Younger.
@dannypo I agree with you. They are being used for aroma and some flavor, but only for the upper end of the Hop spectrum. The huge IIPAs and big IPAs. Not to the extent of what TSAis claiming though.
P.S.S. I also cannot agree with a lot of what you said about brewing. DME vs LME, and hop extract? etc, etc. Ya know sweetie, sometimes I think you stretch things in these videos just to see what kind of rise you'll get out of people. Surely, yeah?

wow you really hate coopers. what did they ever do to you. all craig is saying is that you dont have to do all-grain and partial mashes to have a decent beer. sometimes simplicity is what people want. ya you can have better brew all grain. but maybe your time is better spent elsewhere doing something else hand you dont have the time to do a 60 minute boil non the less an hour or more mashing plus the boil. there is nothing wrong with doing a pre-hopped malt. take the sand out of your vagina

Update: I loved that Scottish 80 so much that I want to the "bike ride away" place. (took two buses) They didn't have all the grains or the hops I needed. So much for "all the grains, all the hops". I bought some Nottingham yeast. They gave it to me in a zip lock baggie. Really? Not vacuum sealed? Best home brew shop in Canada. Lier. I'll use that in my next inmate brew, maybe. I still use Coopers often, and still endorse the products. I would say that I have expanded, not moved on. Cheers! :)

I brew all grain and extract, and all grain is not the only way to brew real beer!!! Real beer is beer you can drink, all grain is just another way of doing it. Extract brewing can be improved, though it can make better beer than some brought from the liquor store. Open your mind your arrogant prick! Craig tube helps and teaches people to get into brewing and lets people take it as far as they want to...no pressure. You seem like the type of person that likes any type of attention good or bad!!

@pinemanj besides, have you been to the DMV lately? perfect example of what's to come with gov health clinics. it takes 6 hours to fill out 1 form, take a picture and have a temporary permit issued to you. the actual copy will be mailed within 6-8 weeks. can't wait until i have to go get some basic blood work done at my local government run health care clinic. "we'll have your test results back in 6-9 months sir, thank you for your patience". it takes a YEAR to get an MRI in canada. sounds ideal

OK,...I've watched some more of your videos and I understand what you are saying about the canned malt.
Is it just the coopers malt that you have such a strong dislike for?
Have you tried any others?
I've always used the malt in the milk jug and either steeped specialty grains or did a full mash, which ever one I had more time for.
You are dynamic on video, but just a hint....if you just stick to the brewing and tests that you've done with equipement, I believe your viewers would like it more.

Great video! All very good points. The US health care system, the greatest in the world, is being ruined before our very eyes. No matter who you are, how much you make, what you believe in, you can walk into an emergency room and receive the same care that anyone else can get. It's unfortunate that some think there needs to be a change to that.

LME is does not have specialty grains in it necessarily. Extra light LME is just mashed 2-row and I would think the reg light is as well. It is a base malt product and adding specialty grains is necessary to achieve the style of beer you are shooting for...

also, adding 1.5 oz of Willamette hops will not necessarily make a strong bitter beer. The AA on Wills are low and they will add a level of bitterness but not like a high AA hop would.
But that is beside the point...I wish you would refrain from passing along information you know little to nothing about. u have brewed 2 beers and very few people recommend using hop extracts over real hops...

I'm only interested in brewing the best beer in the world. Some are obviously not. The steeping kit Craig brewed is certainly up for debate. It was supposedly good tasting to him. I really doubt I would enjoy it.

@JOMalone3113 actually hop extracts are becoming more popular among craft brewers. Its not for the reasons TSA claims but they are being used. The main use is for beers that use tons of hops. You can cut down on the vegetable matter by using extracts. Russian River uses it in both Pliney the Elder and the Younger.
