Interestingly enough-listen to Danny Elfman's scores and then Mahler. Its called "Klezmer" influence. Jewish/Russian musical influences that combined when the Jews took refuge in Russia decades ago! Mahler is Jewish-Danny Elfman is too. I think its neat!:)

This symphony looks like it would be a lot of fun to play on violin. I'm going to try to get my conductor at my college next year to put it on our repertoire. Although I doubt that he or she will be inclined to follow the musical advice of an incoming freshman. Oh, well... It certainly does no harm for me to try...
