Yeah, that corn is vital to our economy. FYI for city folks, there are different TYPES of corn and most of what you see along the roads is NOT sweet corn that is good for eating on the cob, it's hard or "dent" corn that is used for cornmeal and animal feed.

Think of it like Sweet corn is a Chihuahua and the corn you see in the fields is mostly German Shepherds. They're both corn (just like they're both dogs) but with different characteristics.

Corn is needed for many things like feed for animals and food for humans. The country would be in trouble if Iowa did not produce so much corn because no other state produces no where near as much corn as Iowa. Iowa also has the Loes hills only found in the upper midwest and China, formed by glaciers. Iowa has lot's of rivers and lakes to.
