Hello, I know you say androgyny is something your born with but I'm a straight female (feel the need to say that cause when someone reads my comment they'll automatically think homo/bisexual) and I'm interested in being androgynous I love guys clothes (mostly suits and watches) and i love male hairstyles and mannerisms they look so confident and respectful. Maybe if you get the time you can do a video on androgynous women?
To me adrogynous means your look is far different & unique from a standard everyday looking person, like Grace Jones& David Bowe. To me it's a beauty that is far more interesting than what we're made to think is beautiful through the media. I love when i come across people like that because it gives you something exciting & wonderful to gaze at like art. I think your beautiful due to the way you look, it caught my attention thats why i've been checkin ur vids ever since. & i'm a straight chick!

People make a lot of different assumptions based on your hair as well, as you said. Even for women, different hairstyles and hair types supposedly say different things to people about your character, which is not 100% true. Just a shallow assumption that people are literally equipped to make as "survival" instinct.
also... the way you dress, act, and natural appearance all have an effect on you looking androgynous. david beckham is not androgynous except for the fact that at the time in the picture you flashed he had long hair and earrings. therefore... the way you dress and style yourself can make you androgynous. it's not always something you're born with unless it's the way you act. you are effeminate for a guy... you were born that way. grace jones could change that with long hair and soft makeup.
Confused about why you said you didn't like the way the dictionary worded the definition... it's completely correct. Either having characteristics of both male and female or Neither specifically masculine or feminine. That's what the word means. You're a very beautiful dollface male just like I may come off as a masculine female (usually to males who are intimidated by a female tougher than they are). Somewhat shitty issue I have noticed that being androgyneous causes: "ordinary" girls think you are ugly and boys say that you are too girly, and at least no one has told me that I'm real attractive (I'm completely normal, not ugly nor too beautiful, people just say it is hard to define who I am). It sucks but it's worth teaching people that gender is not that black n white thing...

you and me both dude, you and me both, i started pushin my androgyny in the 8th grade and ever since ive never looked back, i love it it makes me unique and it makes me stronger and it gets a lot of attention. at first i was upset by it cus i didnt want them to get me confused, but i knew it was something i couldnt change so i embraced it and its gotten me far and i wouldnt change a thang. but i think that people like us should stick together, cus we a community of our own, for real.
My daughter is androgynous. On regular school days she can easily pass for a boy, but when it comes time for prom or any other event where she has to dress up, she looks like a stunning model. Its crazy, but she always had that look and she is slim. Androgynous is awesome!!!!

I think the one thing I would disagree with you about is that androgyny is a purely physical thing (though you never say it outright, it's just what you imply). I'm androgynous in the mental sense and envy you your looks, as I was born with a very curvy female body (lucky for me that my face is really androgynous). Funny thing about that, almost every girl I've ever known has told me they wish they had this or that body part of mine (normally my breasts, apparently large hips aren't as coveted).
Transextion! a.k.a Uterization (MtF) Anyway, nice video and explanation of androgyny. Most people are not androgynous, and because of this it is something to be treasured. If I were androgynous, I would certainly take advantage of it and do as you said, "play with both sides". Being a sort of gender-neutral person anyway, the idea of being perceived as neither or both sounds enthralling !

You dont want people callin you"girl" but you have barbie (which is a woman) tatted on ur arm and refer to urself as dollface (which is 99 % of the time a female, other 1% you of course...Basically this was very contradicting...made me have a hmmmmmm moment...
@LakeshiaPinkney Not trying to start an argument, and I half way agree with you but it all depends on how you look at it...Usually when people refer to to themselves as Barbie, they're referring to what Barbie represents, beauty, fashion, poise, etc. Dollface to me means a person with a pretty face. Dolls have pretty faces hence the name dollface. I don't think he contradicted himself at all and i think he did very well in getting his point across.

The way i see it, is yes, he refers to himself as "Barbie" or "Dollface" however, i think that only depicts his persona, to say the least, but of course, when it comes down to it, he's anatomically male. I completely agree with you that it's misleading, but i think he was also trying to explain that there's a fine line between adopting a girly persona, or personality, and being actually female.

I enjoy your videos but I dont agree with your explanation of androgynous.....I mean its one thing for a woman to naturally have some masculine features or a man to have feminine features but thats different from your personality/attitude or the way you dress. Hey Doll I completely understand where you are coming from, actually I too went through that senario where I was always thought of as a girl who was a tomboy. Ive always had hair, a high pitch voice, and feminine features, now I am just more comfortable living as a women. Also about the makeup for enhancment, I completly agree once again without makeup its a mixture of features but with make up of course it makes you look more feminine. But I'm glad you are happy with who and how you are!
I think using makeup is just another way to express what you feel on the inside. Androgyny has almost nothing to do with physicality and almost everything to do with gender identity. The use of makeup (or hair, or clothes or whatever else) or not does not influence whether a person is androgynous or not, simply how they choose to express it. Makeup may not be your thing, but don't make assumptions about other people because of it.

I think the one thing I would disagree with you about is that androgyny is a purely physical thing (though you never say it outright, it's just what you imply). I'm androgynous in the mental sense and envy you your looks, as I was born with a very curvy female body (lucky for me that my face is really androgynous). Funny thing about that, almost every girl I've ever known has told me they wish they had this or that body part of mine (normally my breasts, apparently large hips aren't as coveted).

Transextion! a.k.a Uterization (MtF) Anyway, nice video and explanation of androgyny. Most people are not androgynous, and because of this it is something to be treasured. If I were androgynous, I would certainly take advantage of it and do as you said, "play with both sides". Being a sort of gender-neutral person anyway, the idea of being perceived as neither or both sounds enthralling !

Grace Jones, Prince & Boy George were the best examples you gave of androgynous looking people....Zac Efron & David Beckham are metrosexual NOT androgynous lol...you are androgynous..they cannot pass for both sexes easily...unless like you said they apply makeup or dress in drag which isn't androgyny right??

@treestar ...also I have to say that "androgyny" can be very confusing that's why think it's best to stick to the actual definition of the word...to have the "appeal" of both sexes...which some of the people you listed don't. Jamie Lee Curtis is not androgynous...she's a older woman that rocks short cuts & wears women's dress suits...she doesn't look like a man naturally, on purpose or by accident lol and neither does Kate Moss.

I agree with all of this because when i was little and now i get called anything that has to do with girl and i found that as an insult and i get called cute sexy etc.. and i get called a pretty lttle girl which really annoys me cause im a male but its just the way they look at me and when i was little i got called that because i had long pretty curly hair and i was "pretty" but now i take that all as a copliment i cut my hir but growing it back but i didnt cut it all gone its half way there !

ive been told a whole bunch of times that i could and should dress like both a girl and boy. for awhile i always took it as an insult , . i now realize they say this because when i stand next to my mom we look like twins, and when next to my dad (especially if i have a hat on or my hair is slicked back) we sometimes look like father and son. so tahnk you for clearing that up and showing me that it is not a negative thing to look like both , Either way im still cute lol

i wanna thank you for touchin on this video. it hits home with me because i too feel im am an androgynous. im a str8 girl with a skater boy type style so i get weird looks alot. i have a strong facial structure with feminine looks. then i had to cut my hair off and that didnt help so when i switch up styles it get the you a pretty boy or a ugly girl.
i personally think i a beautiful girl and when i dress like a guy i look like a stud. which offends me because im not gay.

I totally understand where you are comming from....LITERALLY. I've lived through this for years and it drove me crazy!! It got old after a while so I embraced it but began dressing down as much as possible to keep the attention off of me. I avoid taking pictures and being in videos. It's good to see that you are in control of yours and using it positively. Good video!!

You dont want people callin you"girl" but you have barbie (which is a woman) tatted on ur arm and refer to urself as dollface (which is 99 % of the time a female, other 1% you of course...Basically this was very contradicting...made me have a hmmmmmm moment...

@LakeshiaPinkney Not trying to start an argument, and I half way agree with you but it all depends on how you look at it...Usually when people refer to to themselves as Barbie, they're referring to what Barbie represents, beauty, fashion, poise, etc. Dollface to me means a person with a pretty face. Dolls have pretty faces hence the name dollface. I don't think he contradicted himself at all and i think he did very well in getting his point across.

The way i see it, is yes, he refers to himself as "Barbie" or "Dollface" however, i think that only depicts his persona, to say the least, but of course, when it comes down to it, he's anatomically male. I completely agree with you that it's misleading, but i think he was also trying to explain that there's a fine line between adopting a girly persona, or personality, and being actually female.

I enjoy your videos but I dont agree with your explanation of androgynous.....I mean its one thing for a woman to naturally have some masculine features or a man to have feminine features but thats different from your personality/attitude or the way you dress. Prince has some feminine physical features but the way he walks, talks, & carries himself all immediately confirm that hes a man. I think its more of your attitude & dress rather than physical features that confuse ppl of your gender.

Hey Doll I completely understand where you are coming from, actually I too went through that senario where I was always thought of as a girl who was a tomboy. Ive always had hair, a high pitch voice, and feminine features, now I am just more comfortable living as a women. Also about the makeup for enhancment, I completly agree once again without makeup its a mixture of features but with make up of course it makes you look more feminine. But I'm glad you are happy with who and how you are!

I think using makeup is just another way to express what you feel on the inside. Androgyny has almost nothing to do with physicality and almost everything to do with gender identity. The use of makeup (or hair, or clothes or whatever else) or not does not influence whether a person is androgynous or not, simply how they choose to express it. Makeup may not be your thing, but don't make assumptions about other people because of it.
