  • The hospitals have been looted and burned. That is local terror and stupidity. For all the war's horrors, there is enough blame to go around. NEVER think it's only Bush & Chaney. Clinton's sanctions hurt the people like fire....

  • seandin, I still have faith in the true morals of the people. If they all knew of the injustices that have been done against Iraq and its people, I am sure they would stand up and demand that the murderers (clinton, bush, cheney & Blair) be hanged for the genocide they have committed. Only recently are more people being awakened thanks to AlJazeera. AlJazeera is one of the few shining beacons that don't pamper to american and jewish propaganda.

  • Interesting story, but how has the Iraq war exacerbated this situation? All we've heard is just a shallow before-and-after analysis of "it used to be good, now it's bad - blame the Americans!" While I agree that invasion probably has a lot to do with it, I'd like a detailed logical explanation as for why this is the case and not just some meaningless correlation

  • Eyesorell, the health system in Iraq was one of the best in the area under Saddam. If america's infrastructure (water treatment plants, power plants etc) were destroyed and all the police, health care workers deserted because of the enormous strain and danger, millions would also die.

America is 100% to blame, the WMD was only a farce so the public wouldn't feel so bad about killing millions of children and elderly to plunder another nations oil.

  • The sanctions killed their health care system.. all electrical equipment, ambulances, baby food, drips catheters for babies, chlorine and other water purification chemicals, disposable surgical gloves, medical gauze, gauze, syringes, oxygen tents, tissues, specific medicines. Totally heartless and immoral.

  • AntiWar I'm not sure what you're saying - didn't the sanctions happen in 1991? Please re-read my question, I was asking for the relationship between the invasion of Iraq (which I do condemn by the way) and the situation depicted in the video.

  • Eyesorell, health systems even in the western world are barely able cope with demand. If you bomb a countries power grids, water purification systems cannot work, which causes disease to manifest. The power grids destroyed 2003 are still not fully restored. To combat the Cholera outbreak, the UN handed out 5 million water purification tablets in 2007/2008. Sewerage causing disease, security problems, medical supply shortages have all manifest in causing the health care system to collapse.

  • Ummmmm you do realise at a time of war there are casualties and injuries. The demand for such services thus increases - do you need me to bring out the finger puppets to explain this to you?

You need to do your homework and also look at how the interim government headed by the Americans dealt with the health crisis.

  • Are you completely moronic? I was talking about how the situation gets worse numbskull, obviously regarding things like doctors having their lives threatened etc, not things like "lol more casualties, overcrowded hospitals!" That would be a clever argument if you were on a high school debating team I'm sure, but if scrutinized a bit it just makes you out to be an asshole.

  • Look at your original post - you asked "how the Iraq war has exacerbated this situation" which is an incredibly stupid question on its own merit.

As for doctors having their lives threatened again you will need to look at de-Baathication of Iraq by the interim American administration of the country. This includes health care.

As I tell many Americans stick to watching Oprah and leave international relations to those with culture and education.

  • Wow.... you start by making an assertion that my question was "incredibly stupid on its own merit", way to add to the conversation, I really feel enlightened now about the situation now asshole.

De-baathication? Do you mean de-baathification? As for that part, again, what the fuck is your problem? God forbid I ask a question so as to try and learn something.

Also I'm not an American you presumptuous dunce; go back to your 9/11 conspiracy theories.

  • "God forbid I ask a question" - Go back to your original post fool, your question was rhetorical upon which you argued how the war on Iraq was not the reason for poor Iraqi health services.

    Idiot.

  • Wow Paulo I know for a fact that you are illiterate. I have said countless times that I do not support the war in Iraq. I even said the following in my original question:

"/While I agree that invasion probably has a lot to do with it/, I'd like a detailed logical explanation as for why this is the case and not just some meaningless correlation"

Where did I argue that it was not the reason? I merely asked why it was the reason, you uneducated twat. Learn to read please.

  • I dont care if you support the war of not - you're a f*cking idiot and the original assertion in your first post is proof of this. I am well aware of your crazy American agenda.

"Id like a detailed logical explanation" - Go out and look for it because Al Jazeera is not going to spoon-feed you everything in a 3 minute clip.

Its funny you call me illiterate - English is not my first language but can assure you I am more qualified than you in the language department.

  • I should also add that the last part is just nonsensical, how can people get an education if they're lambasted by everyone who tries to ask a question about the current situation? You realize you're exactly how the right-wing wants democrats to act?

Again I have to add that I'm not some warmongering Yank, I'm just someone trying to learn something, I thought that was clear but I guess you were too busy alienating people with the education you got from wikipedia, you high school dropout fuck

  • "How can people get an education" - Your original post passed an incomplete judgement on the war and health in Iraq, you said yourself you are not educated on the topic so why did you post such inflammatory remarks? This is a sensitive issue and if you are not well-versed then shut-up and read quietly about it somewhere else.

Its funny you question my education, I can assure you it is better than yours.

  • Did you watch the video? Or have you read a newspaper lately? The doctor's said- many of them are being kidnapped. Many of them are being killed. How does that make for a secure environment to practice health? The economy of Iraq has been ruined, people can't afford the care they need nor afford to go somewhere else to get it. Wake up!

  • OKAY, yes I get it, doctors are being kidnapped, but who is kidnapping them, and how is the United States culpable? I'm 99% sure that you're right and that I would agree with you but I kind of need a reasonable explanation as for why this is the case. I am someone trying to learn something, not someone trying to challenge your views, you please answer my question rather than mocking me with stupid shit like "did you watch the video?" Better question: did you read my post?

  • LOOK AT THE INTERIM ADMINISTRATION OF IRAQ THAT WAS RUN BY THE AMERICANS! THEY SET UP A SYSTEM UPON WHICH SUCH RIVALRIES AND DIVISIONS WERE UTILISED.

You conveniently ignore facts that respond to the issues you raise. I also dont think you can expect a concise answer to your question in a short YouTube post - go out, research and discover for yourself.

  • "I dont care if you support the war of not - you're a f*cking idiot and the original assertion in your first post is proof of this. I am well aware of your crazy American agenda."

People who censor words with asterisks are usually complete morons, but thank you for softening the blow of your scathing remarks towards my typical American ignorance. It's really too bad that I'm not an American, something which I've explained several times, or else your patent racism might affect me in some way

  • I should also add that there was no assertion made in my first post, so there is no proof of the claim YOU just made. My post was in fact a question, one which you refused to answer until now when it finally dawned on you that you are illiterate.

Also what is my "crazy American agenda"? How can I have one if you acknowledge that I'm an opposer of the war? Are you really that psychotic?

Please before you argue with someone, learn the language that you're arguing in.

  • One that I refused to answer! I talked about the American interim administration and the policy of de-baathication!

Your assertions in your first post are clear - you state a rhetorical question and then you continue on a diatribe that denounces Al-Jazeera's report. If you were asking on something that you wanted to learn about why did you attempt to answer it yourself by questioning their claims. It hardly seems rational.

Again you criticise my English skills, we all know that is laughable.

  • Yawn! You're Canadian and you are not from the French part so you're American.

  • stfu. The beheadin of alqeda cultist freaks is the answer.Their an embarrassment to the human race. The doctor said if they work alqeda will kill them, women are havin their eyes pulled out because these no nothing killers.
