@ibanut sumi-e is the traditional japanese painting style so it would be ink. Ink is also a very asian way of doing it, and it will appear in both east asian and indian paintings too, though the styles are quite different
The House Sparrow is one of my favourite birds. Sadly, they seem to have declined in numbers in London UK of late. Nobody really knows why. Great painting Kazu
Can you tell me what kind of brush that is? Is that a regular Bamboo brush? I'm practicing Sumi-e and I'm just a beginner. Every time I do a stroke the end of the stroke has water or is smudged but all of your strokes come out clean. Do you know what I could be doing wrong? I use regular bamboo brush. Maybe it's the brush? Or maybe how much water I have on it?
hi, I guess that you put water too much in brush. Other parts than the head of the sparrow(the first drawing part), I squeeze the water out of the brush before drawing.
Be able to rest my eyes and mind for a few minutes trough your work, in between emergency meetings, right now, in the midlle of this Flod mess that is crashing our state apart (Santa Catarina - Brasil) It is , a real bless. Thanks a lot
Kazushimuraさん I spent the most relaxing 5 minutes in a long time watching your work of art. I admire how you can turn simple things in real works of art.
^^Hoping to meet you someday, Elena in Yokohama.
Ps. I want to see the orchid too. It`s my mother`s favorite flower and the national flower of my country.

Thank you for sharing. I find it relaxing to sit and watch you create it is fun to see how much or how little is needed to capture the image.
