Krav Maga was developed as a COMBAT FORM, not a martial art. Though its moves have many practical uses for self defense, its military variant is primarily a way to train soldiers to handle situations without firing their weapon. I would define the martial arts as a way of learning technique with an emphasis on the traditions and disciplines associated with that technique.

The point I was trying to make was this: there's a difference between a martial art and a martial practice. on the surface they seem similar, but they are actually very different.

We trained this in a different way. Instead of having the butt above the arm, it was underneath, as you'd expect it to be, when operating a firearm. The stock is rotated in an upward arc, to hit the enemys chin from below. Sort of a mix of upper cut and an elbow strike.

Did anyone else notice that the "stiff metal" on the M16 they're referring to is actually a relatively flimsy plastic stock? The only metal there is the buffer tube, which is just a thin-walled aluminum cylinder. An impact like the one shown in the video could damage the rifle.

This tactic would be good if you had a sturdy rifle, such as one with a solid wooden stock (an M1 or a bolt-action rifle comes to mind here). With the M16, you'd be better off hitting them with the muzzle device instead.

Krav Maga is originated for the Israeli army, meaning, yes, they use their assault rifles to melee the other opponent, because that's what they do in the army... Krav Maga can be used for street fighting too though, and there are other techniques used for that, so stop trying to be a smart ass.
