They do not know how to write for a single mother. Roz is, constantly visiting Frasier's apartment, without her daughter, any time, any hour. Here, we see her selling WRAPPING PAPER, as if that is what parenting means.
How often did we see little Alice? Three, maybe four episodes, in the five seasons that she was supposed to be around?
Are we to believe that Roz is so rich, she can afford a live-in nanny?
This episode and the one where Niles brings Daphnes father over are the best episodes of the Daphne & Niles relationship stories. Loved it. Wish we could have seen the follow-up for Ferguson and his Lady.
After every episode I think about writing 'this is my favourite episode out of all them.' A testament to the show I imagine. This episode though, especially the end, is stunning. Mel vanquished, Niles vindicated, Daphne happy, Frasier gracious and Ferguson's departure. All touching, seminal moments.
While I like the ending of this episode, it always irked me that the other people ditched Frasier....I mean, I understand they're siding with Mel, but its not Frasier's fault what happened....
I see Daphne is already starting to put on weight. I know Jane Leeves is pregnant, but it still irks me to see stunning, slender Daphne get so big. It didn't fit in well with the flow of the show. Couldn't she have just going to Manchester for a few months?
It's really funny how Americans cannot write British people and for British people. Lady Westerfield! come on. Ferguson! It's such a joke and rediculous.
@jamboliboli why do people treat Frasier like it's a treatise on British customs/manners/dialects/etc.? that people critique a form renowned for hyperbole as having hyperbole is, indeed, ridiculous.
Ooooo Mel had me wanting Niles to put a nice fist or blunt object right in her face... Especially when she called him a spineless twit. And yet, he did leave her so I can't completely blame her for being vindictive. She did have reason... Conflicting feelings...
how come an aweful character like daphnes brother is in 4 episodes and furguson isnt... they should have kept him in regular cast!!! eine echte bereicherung :)
@phrames84 Ferguson was wonderful. Frasier and NIles were the classiest of the show but Ferguson took it to another, more polite and less snobby, sincere level. He was charming.
I love the audience's reaction when Mel comes through the door. They hate her just as much as we do, which is just as much as she deserves to be hated.
"My sense of duty compelled me to take him in after the colonel passed."
"Yes... We felt the same sense of duty towards his art collection."
"Oh, well, I hope you don't think that's why I did this. But it's certainly a nice fringe benefit." "I'm no farmer, Crane, but I can smell manure a mile away. You'll be a welcome addition."
I love that guest's casual cynicism. Was his name mentioned?
Totally in your face Mel!!She deserved this! Torturing poor Niles just to satisfy her revenge!I know she is right in one point but I still abhore her!

I adored Ferguson. I hope things work out with between he and his Lady Westerfield.

Frasier loses his 'In' , Niles gains his courage and Daphne gains her man . . . . :)
