Love this. Chad's a funky rock drummer and that's why you like him or don't. He's obviously a great drummer. Additionally he played Birdland with a huge rock feel that sounded great.
@gibtsnocheinenfreien chad here is playing big band style, with a rock touch by him.. is beautifull, he's sucj a good drummer, he play jazz, rock , funk..

Terrible, as per the average Chad Smith. It speaks volumes when the bass player is more interesting to listen to at a Buddy Rich tribute concert. Check out the drumming on the original version of Birdland by Weather Report or Buddy Rich's Big Band version and then you might understand how overrated and dull Chad really is.

This of playing live move people better, emotionally or physically IMO

@PLAYINGWITHFIREBAND1 Im not sure... theres a lot of factors - but I know hes probably not in the top 10 amongst session drummers. However in band drummers I know hes very formidable
