  • This mans voice makes my heart vibrate, Its just exactly what I think Spocks voice would sound like, maybe as a teenager or perhaps just another reality, just a voice that fits Spock.

The editing is very smooth and emotional, it..hits all the right spots. <3

  • Awesome vid!!

The kiss at the end was from the new star trek movie XD LOL

  • This was so incredibly well made! Absolutely beautiful <3

  • This is my favorite video and I can't stop playing it! XD "like" just isnt enough to describe this, I wish I could have it on my iPod cause running up that hill is one of my favorite songs too. Its just too perfect to have my favorite things all in one. Thank you so much for creating it and sharing it with the rest of us =]

  • ooomg!!! ;____; very beautiful!! (

  • I like the coloring, looks like the Star Trek + Nine Inch Nails = Closer video..

  • This button is really pissing me off, I wish that this video didn't have a 'like' button... should have been a 'OMG, I CAN'T GET ENOUGH!' button.... It'll be a lot easier :P

  • I had a disgusting day - I watched this clip and I'm beginning to feel much better. Thank you once again

  • This is beautiful, such rich storytelling and the effect on the clips worked really well witht he mood of the piece, awesome!

  • @hopingtoflyaway Even Gene Roddenberry fully acknowledged that Kirk & Spock's bond was up to interpretation. The Vulcan term that Spock uses to describe it in the novelization of the first film could be interpreted as "brother by spirit" or "soulmate," depending on context. ((Behind the scenes, I'm sure Takei was laughing his ass off))

  • @hopingtoflyaway I'll acknowledge K/S in terms of how pivotal it is to fanfic history. It may not be everyone's thing, but back in the pre-internet days, if you didn't want to read Mary Sue, you usually wound up with slash. K/S broke the barrier and opened the door for a wider range of expression, from intense brotherhood to romance - not just for Trek, but for other sci-fi, and even cop shows. That being said, the video is very well-constructed.

  • @hopingtoflyaway Opinion, yes. But not just mine. Check out the academic studies on fanfic history - Henry Jenkins, Camille Bacon-Smith, Joanna Russ, et. al. Slash is a bit more complex than "projection of sexual orientation." There is a lot of perverse "let's watch two pretty boys get it on" in the mix, but it's not the entire package by a longshot.

  • Oh my God, this vid gives me the shivers, it's so perfect and so beautiful and so evocative. What is it about Placebo that just seems to FIT with K/S? This is easily one of the best K/S fanvids on YouTube and I can't get enough of watching it!

  • The editing is so mesmerizing together with song, I can watch it over and over and not only not enough of it, I enjoyed it as I watched it the first time

  • Hot dammit, that was beautiful. Well done. Left me short of breath, that did.

  • Amazing. The kiss at the end was great, the mouth and chin area even looked similar to Nimoy's!

  • wow this is such a beautiful video ... bit speechless at the moment :P

  • OMG, so good.

  • DA NA NA NANANANA NANANANA NAH

  • What episode is that where Spock hits Kirk 0.0

    Loved the video!!

  • @fullmetalgirl Naked Time. Seasons 1.

  • wow, just... wow. two things:

    1. i never knew placebo did a version of this song. i really REALLY like it. great choice!

    2. great job with the editing. :) its HAWT.

  • What episode is the shot at 2:00-2:03 from? With Spock's hand on the door?

  • @mishamae21 It's from "Journey to Babel". It's this great scene where Spock and his mom get into an 'argument' and she storms out after saying she'll hate him forever if he doesn't do the human thing... which he doesn't. She even slaps him. My breaks every time I see it. :(

  • great vid ! and i love the brokeback mountain clip put in too ;)

  • it just gets hotter <:D

  • ohhh... so beautiful video!

    Perfect! Great job!

  • This, and T. Jonesy and Killa's "Closer", are the two best Spirk videos ever made.

    IMHO.

  • you are good.

  • I loved it!!! You are an excellent video editor!! *favs*

  • POWERFUL.

  • This video is completely amazing.

  • you rock... your understanding of these two characters and the underlying conection is truely fantastic. I have often read fanfiction that doesn't really show any true connection but in trueth thier relationship was not as much sexual as it was a bond or well "mating" of thier qualities.... I love you!!!! *hugs*

  • holy shit. this is a really good video!

  • Wow, I loved the video as much as reading these comments, which I don't normally do, but they were played out very well. I've actually never read an online argument so civilized, that hasn't been reduced to name calling and slander. Awesome in so many ways.

  • I've been a Trek fan almost since I was in diapers but I will never understand this. A romantic relationship between Kirk and Spock was never suggested. In any case, the real relationship was a triad; Kirk, Spock AND McCoy. The connection between the three was more complex and transcended anything romantic or sexual. Theirs was a spiritual union that seems to be belittled by this "romantic" thing. It has nothing to do with same sex relations- it's about respecting something higher.

  • Youre of course entitled to your opinion, but you came to this video and commented so Im going to assume you want an answer.

First of all, please dont use the adding romance belittles their relationship argument. Its used all the time to argue against slash pairings. How exactly is it belittling them? If their bond is strong, and Gene Roddenberry even said, The affection was sufficient for that then is it simply because theyre both men? Theyre too good of friends?

    - TBC

  • Using the word belittle, also suggests that if they were gay they would somehow be less than they are now. How would their relationship be diminished if it were romantic? Would their deep bond disappear if they were gay? Many people think being gay is all about the sex, which is very insulting to homosexuals in general.

    - TBC

  • Transcended anything romantic or sexual is another term often used to describe deep feelings between people of the same sex. So its a spiritual connection? But isnt the ideal romantic union also a spiritual union? Thats why people get married, right?

    - TBC

  • Lastly, you end with respecting something higher. What exactly is this higher something? God? Uber friendship? Please clarify and pay attention to the language you use when referring to homosexuality. You dont have to like Kirk/Spock, but the language youre using to argue against it is questionable. Its a very heteronormative point of view.

(Holy crap, this turned into an essay. D:)

  • That's okay. I do the same when I leave comments. -lol- Yes, some of my friends are gay but that's irrelavent to my own opinions. And I've read Kirk/Spock stories that date back to the 70s. And I don't differentiate relationships be they straight or gay - if the couple is happy together that's all that counts. I would have the same opinion even if either Kirk or Spock were female. Why imagine something that was never there?

  • Over 40 years writers have created a unique relationship between Kirk, Spock AND McCoy. The most brutish of beasts can have sexual relationships, some even indulge in some form of foreplay. Humans are capable of much, much more. That's what I mean by "something higher" and "transcend". Trek is about people who seek to be better than their baser instincts. It's my humble opinion that turning it into something sexual affects the nobility if what they do. My opinion doesn't make me a homophobe.

  • I apologize, I wasn't sure if you were a troll actually curious about why people slash them. Like I said, you don't have to agree with the pairing, and I won't try to change your opinion and no one's going to argue that McCoy isn't an important part of their lives, he definitely is. But I will argue that there is plenty of evidence for a Kirk/Spock relationship. Whether it was intentional/canon is irrelevant for fandom, it's there.

    - TBC

  • There's a reason this was the pairing the coined slash. Amok Time, Shore Leave and movies 1-3 have the most obvious examples. Gene also created the word T'hy'la in the novelization of the first film and Spock uses it to refer to Jim in the book. T'hy'la means friend, brother, lover. People will take from that what they will. Gene also stated several times that he based Kirk and Spock's relationship on Alexander and Hephaestion, who were warriors, brothers in arms, and also lovers.

  • Wow. I guess in the "knowing stuff" department you totally pwned me. Still, I think I'll stick with my narrow minded opinion that the relationship between these three humans was etheral, spiritual. It went above and beyond fragile flesh and blood. I often had the impression they were like one person split in three. In fact, such triad relationship played a large part in many myths and legends of Western civilization.

    -TBC

  • I saw in an interview somewhere (I think it was on one of the season 1 DVDs) where some of the writers were talking about exactly this, how Kirk, Spock and McCoy represent the three parts of a whole human. Kirk being the body, Spock the mind, and McCoy emotions. We see this happening in the series a lot. McCoy is often calling out Kirk and Spock (especially Spock) when they're not being emotionally honest.

  • Some of the Kirk/Spock fiction I read seemed to be written as pure pornography - written simply to shock. I worry that this lowest common denominator will be seen as representative of the relationship. While some will know they're based upon larger than life characters like Alexander and Hephaestion others will look to defile it. I'd hate to see my favorite fictional characters reduced to mere charicatures of themselves. They more than anyone have taught me the value of friendship.

  • Okay, your comment here really made me smile and go all gooey. It's obvious you love these characters. Yeah, fanfiction is a beast of it's own. It's the internet so there's a lot of porn out there. I often get frustrated with the way fanfiction depicts characters, in Star Trek and other fandoms as well. There are a few good authors who take the time to write Kirk/Spock in the deep epic way their story would demand, but I have to wade through all the crap first of course.

  • @spacecowboy5000

I don't think that giving this pairing a voice tarnishes its nobility. Its quite blantant that the media plays towards homosexuals so its not hard to see this. Especially considering how blantantly sexual these two are with one another...

  • Oh goodness.... I LOVE this video! So beautiful. My favorite episode, awesome song, amazing clips and effects. It made me cry... if I could I'd give you 20 out of 5 stars I would do so in a heartbeat....

  • what is that song? and who is it by? I like that video a lot by the way! I've only just recently been introduced to this series. I've always watched the next generation(excelent as well I might add.) But so far that is one of my favorite episodes! Well Done!

  • running up that hill by placebo

    deadly combination. lol

    +5!

  • Holy crap, I failed my fandom by not commenting on this one.

    I LOVE THIS VIDEO.

Favorite show, favorite couple, pon farr without being too porny, and one of my favorite songs? T'Gin, you have stolen my soul. However, you may keep it if you so choose.

This is so pretty, and I can totally see this as a sequel to the Closer video...or a companion video, I don't know.

Anyway, so much love for you!

  • Those are Brokeback Mountain clips at the end! Sorry... I've watched this video, like, a bajillion times and I've been trying to figure out where those clips were from. But now I've figured it out! (And i hope I'm not wrong, or else I'd look like an idiot...)

  • I was wondering about that too! Makes sense... Easiest place to find actual cinematic footage of two men kissing. It spliced quite nicely. ^^

  • LOVED IT!!! XD

The scenes and the Placebo cover just meshed so well together... the tension!!! XD

  • the video is great!!! 5*

  • Does anyone no if Spock ever calls Jim T'hy'la in the show or movies and if so were can I find it? Good vid!

  • I think it was in a book.

  • What book?

  • I don't know tbh. Try Googling the word and see what it comes up with.

  • No he never called Jim that in the show or any of the movies. It was in the novel Star Trek The Motion Picture. That was the only time it was ever used.

  • Only in the Roddenberry "The Motion Picture" novelisation.

  • Can't get this song or pairing out of my mind! :D

  • I love vid but most the ending ^ ^

    the song fits perfectly
