  • @jscalise1 Well don't forget this is 1980 meaning that he's speaking of Journey Pre - Johnathan Caine. Journey had a very nice style with Greg Rolie. They were a pop band for sure but they possessed a credible edge. Caine turned them into , for lack of a better word, the gay superstars you know and love today

  • @mlmr11 Got to say infinity with both rollie and perry was the best.

  • wow... KMET - Haven't heard that callsign since I was a kid. Tooo cool.

  • RIP RJD... We miss you man

  • "Oh, I am sensational" - ...I hear ya

  • Radio K.A.O.S. of Roger Waters fame

  • I saw this show ...it was the first rock concert I ever went to. I became a huge Black Sabbath fan that day thanks to Ronnie James Dio. They were amazing. Journey and Cheap Trick followed and both handed in great performances. Before Sabbath , The Babys and Molly Hatchet played great sets. A local Los Angeles CA band called Russia started the day off.

Before Black Sabbath came on, church bells tolled for about ten minutes. They opened thier set with War Pigs.

  • Jim Ladd is a fool . Ronnie is cool

  • Ahh yes , back when radio rocked , I remember KMET , nice post ,

    Thanks

    RIP Ronnie .

  • RIP RJD.

  • RIP Ronnie we love you & we will all miss you.. Thanks for the music & memories.. your physical body is gone but your spirit & music will live on forever. \m/

  • robin zander and his pink tux? gimme sabbath!!!!! i was there what a great show!!!!

  • Cool. Back then groups didn't get pigeon holded like they are now. It was possible then for a metal band to open for a soft rock act like Journey. A friend of mine told me that, during his first solo tour, Ozzy opened for Kenny Loggins

  • Why the fuck would Sabbath be opening for Journey and Cheap Trick?

I like those two bands but Sabbath is much bigger than those two.

  • to prove they are better open up for bands that suck meakes u look better lol

  • Journey and Cheap Trick are cool, but still Sabbath is bigger!

  • 'can we just have the money instead'

lol Ronnie is a real show man.

    Lucky Oakland crowd [nextday].

lucky me ...28 years later i got to see Dio live !!

Good luck in august DIOPRIEST and thanks for sending this. Thanks for sharing blacksabfan

  • I remember this show at the Los Angeles Coliseum. That really was pretty good show...and yes Journey did put on a pretty good show. This was before "Open Arms" and soft ballad stuff that gave that band a black eye among their loyal fan base. Cheap Trick and Molly Hatchet were there too! Also put on a good show. This show happened in July of 1980. Yeah bring back memories...

  • Come on! Journey, I thought i was gonna throw up, and Chep Trick sounded nothing better. But still, Sabbath rocks!

  • Very Cool.

  • 1980 was this after the gas crisis and stuff? Cool interview

  • blacksabfan you rock you always post amazing stuff thankyou very much long live dio and diofan1952 for sending me this vid

  • Nice post!

  • dio likes journey?

  • @itsatacoproductions

theirs nothing wrong with journey, nothing at all

Dio liked alota bands , his ultimate he said was Led Zeppelin

  • CAL JAM one! 1974 I believe

Journey/ Cheap Trick gimmie a break

Jim Ladd sounds so different, obviously a young man back then.
