  • Man, that was hard to watch...great playing...crappy "interview" (though I suspect no one was really interviewing this guy...probably just his own set-up to get onto you tube).

  • What is this guy talkin' about most of the time? Maybe rehearse what you are going to say before you do your video...most of what you are saying is mumbo jumbo..still, you can play a mean guitar (way better than me).

  • Good player..WAYYYY to much reverb!

  • real good guitar my dad had a 2003 tele. Sadly he just traded it in for another guitar

  • Actually.. George played a rosewood tele...

  • Would this be a good beginner guitar, I know I like a Strat.

  • Cant see the guitar ;) same color

  • tu cause trop pour un simple riff!

  • grate guitar camo XD

  • could you please do a mexican fender jaguar? love your videos

  • 1:52 that's why metal guitarist never use guitar with maple neck.their hand's so dirty to clean up :D:D

  • I love that finish!!

  • I like the way it sounds, but I only buy American.

    (Except for this computer, my motorcycle, my VCR, my car, my gym shoes, my baseball hat, my television, my food;

    OK, I can dig it.

  • Awesome reviews and great channel!! I'm fairly new to your channel and I've been wondering. Do you still tour for a living? I'm a young musician still in high school hoping to, at the very least, earn some extra money and inspire a few people along the way with music. Take care!!

  • Just got back from a mini tour in San Francisco. It was fun! You can watch the video; Carlos Reyes at Sonora.

Let me know what you think. There's a couple of guitar solos in the middle and at the end. The road is a hard life but has its moments. Sometimes you can do very well if you're operating at a high professional level.

    Thanks for your interest.

  • I meant telecaster lol

  • I want a television but I hate the headstock sooo much

  • @ryancoleman3 you could try the telecaster deluxe 72

  • i just bought a tele in red(:

  • hey im pretty new to fenders. im looking for either a strat or tele. i play mostly greenday blink 182 sum 41 ect. any suggestions on models or amps or effects.

  • finishes noodling--"anyway" hahahahaha

  • I love how you described EXACTLY what a tele is.

    Props.

    Now i want a tele....

  • I've heard squier cv's whup on Mexican fenders

  • John - I just bought a Fender Telecaster '72 Deluxe reissue. Could you do a review on this guitar, or tell me how it plays? Thanks - Matt.

  • If you get this John, when I'm back in Laguna, I'm going to need your wisdom once again. (Or I'll just call on a weekend I fly down)

  • i hate fender guitars

  • @Luisshamansblues and i hate trolls. Stick a fat camelcock up your asshole and leave this biblical video.

  • I was going to buy a mexican made one the other day. But then I saw that the american made ones are like £600 more expensive. Can anyone tell me why? The specs seemed pretty similar. And it didn't seem right that I would be paying an extra £600 just because of where it's from :S

  • This decision is very subjective. This guitar to some would just be a beater. Compare this to a high quality American made guitar and you find people who prefer the beater. Go out and play guitars till one speaks to you and says, "Buy me!"

  • @ArtOfRuin75 Better quality make, more care involved in making.

  • @ArtOfRuin75 mexican hourly rate for a pro must be US 1.50 , american ur probably looking @ least 30 bucks/hour so do the math then youll know y the american ones r so xpensive

  • @ArtOfRuin75 its easy to understand. mexican teles and strats loose money over the years. a usa strat or tele dont depreciate. just look at the new strat and telecasters, they have gone up now rrp are £150 up since last year. also usa strats and telecasters have better hardware electrics and woods hand rolled fingerboard edges, just better quality. if your a beginner get a mex if your a good player invest in a usa on i have 2 usa strats one with maple neck one with rosewood and a usa tele.

  • @ArtOfRuin75 Better pickups and better hardware. What you'll end up doing if you buy a mexican guitar is one day changing the pickups, which will cost you about $200 for the pickups and maybe $75 to have them installed if you can't do it by yourself. So knock $275 off that extra $600 it would cost you to buy a American. Also the American guitars come with hardshell cases that run for about $90.00 new so knock off another $90 and you're left with an extra cost of $235 for the hardware and labor.

  • @ArtOfRuin75 also, the cost difference from mexican to american isn't $600.00 it's about $350.00 because you can but an american special strat or tele for $800.00. As you can tell by my previous comment it doesn't make sense to buy a mexican because the cost will end up being the same as an american special once you start upgrading the parts on the mexican guitar.

  • I like this guy, he seems like he could be your awesome bachelor uncle who buys you beer and lets you smoke his pot!

  • Thanks!!! But better than that I'll introduce you to ladies you should marry because you're so wayward my son!!!

  • @johnhguitar Im not disobedient! I just think you/he seems like that kind of badass bachelor uncle.

  • I am an uncle to four red hot surfer dudes but I never shared any stuff with them. By the time they sprang on the scene I had completely gone totally straight and advised them to do the same and now you too!

  • @johnhguitar I think he's trying to deny his pot smoking. Just let it out man

  • @PBANDSNOW in other words... Charlie Harper :D

  • @OakPark11MileRd Yeah....the Mexican Fenders are finished in polyester, which is plastic. Even the American Strats are finished in polyurethane. The only Fender guitars that use laquer on the neck are Custom Shop and American Vintage.

  • I respect Fender but my favorite brand of guitar ESP.

  • I got a Fender Squier made in Indonesia. Still, I still love her...She love me Long Time...

  • what is the different between fender and squier

  • @97henrik a thousand dollars

  • @97henrik the squier isn't as well built but when its clean, its clean and when its dirty, its dirty! the fender is more well made with a bigger punch, but the dirty sound isn't as well. but the clean sound is just TREMENDOUS (did i spell that right?)

  • All I did was pick one up at my fave Guitar shop n wow..... I had nothing but dreams about picking it up again , then I had dreams I played it everyday and it was white. It drove me nuts for a few more days so I ended up walking in to the store and walking out with a Blue one , it matches my car , my cars color is my fave color in the universe!! I wake up in the middle of the night just to play her , her name is Lucille :) I love her. A blissful break from playing heavy rock n metal.

  • i have one i just got it from my uncle brand new 500$

  • he usualy where s that shir look at more of his vids

  • This is a Laguna Beach Guitar Shoppe t-shirt. Order one if you like them so much.

  • Cool guitar, but what's with the matching shirt?

  • When colors come together and the energies in the universe harmonize, cosmic forces drive a man to overcome any and all obstacles in his way. I found that by matching my shirt with the guitar it turned me into a cosmic Marvel cartoon character capable of playing the guitar in a way that would transport me to the moon and back. I now can even go to hell and back whenever I play the guitar with a matching shirt. The devil always looks forward to seeing me and throws a party whenever I turn up.

  • @johnhguitar Ha ha - that's a lot of work. When I want to go to hell, I just pick up an SG.

  • SWAMP ASS?

  • i had that same guitar. but i pawned it. STUPID!! STUPID!! STUPID!!!!!

  • @rocknrollporn i'm sorry for your loss. :(

  • maple is more comfortable, and easy to play

  • Maple FTW

  • Can someone tell me would it be possible to paint the guitar i'm going to build sunburst without too much trouble like spray-painting it, or do i need to do something harder?

  • to much reverb! Pretty good review though

  • dude...can u mail me the tabs of the riffs pls?

  • love your video mate. I have just got a new mex tele and the neck pickup seems to be a tad quieter than the bridge is that normal on teles, with it being smaller and having a cover on it maybe ?

  • You have to get in there and raise and lower the pickups to balance out the sound between the two. Good luck and thanks for the comment/question.

  • this guitar its very very ugly Dx

  • Sory, my english is not good! Many different Telecaster and fender stratocaster. Télécaster: Reissue 52, James Burton (MEXICO), Hot Road 52 and other... So many different guitars! Impossible try all for good choice. Thank John!

  • Please, What is Better FENDER for Country and Blues, Rockalilly? Thank.

  • Better than what? Gretsch is really good too!

  • You are an amazing player, and watching your videos I'm pretty sure you could make any guitar sound good. But which is you favourite guitar you own?

  • I guess my Gibson ES 175 because it covers a lot of styles, especially jazz and blues.

  • twang twang twang......

  • I got a MIM Standard Ash Tele last Sept. and it is very good and I'm totally happy with it. I had it set up which didn't take much as it was pretty good right out of the store. My instructor, Bill Harkleroad played it and gave it 2TU and if Zoot likes it that saying something. Also, according to his guitar builder MIM fenders are the best buy going right now.

  • Great review, loved it.

I'm a Ovation acoustic guitar player and I'm looking for a electric guitar that has a real defined chord tonality in it. I would love to get one that I can "break in" so to speak. I like the idea of having my common lead runs worn into the neck. What would be the best type for my fretboard to acheive that?

  • you know, this guitar is perfect for your way of playing, but can you make a review for a schecter synyster gates custom? i've seen some and the quality those videos are depend from bad till horrible

  • I know American teles are better. I know, I've tried a few of them at Sam Ash and Guitar Center. But I bought a Mexican one this past weekend and I must say I'm completely blown away on how fun it is to play! I'm already so attached to it! I recommend this guitar to anyone. I've gotten so many different tones out of it, it's insane!

  • 200? for that guitar? Hey, I'll buy it right now! Please get in contact with me.

  • Great video and told me all I wanted to know!

  • Would I be better to get a brand new Mexico made Telecaster or an older, second hand Japanese made one?

  • I'll send you this one for $200 bucks!

  • @johnhguitar Haha, sorry i live in the UK

  • @johnhguitar Are you serious, you would sell that one for 200$?

  • @johnhguitar are you really selling this?sounds great!is it stock?

  • @johnhguitar Are you still selling the guitar?

  • @johnhguitar Are you still selling the guitar?

  • @johnhguitar are you serious about $200 to someone?

  • @johnhguitar do you happen to have another telecaster your willing to sell? thats a great price for a mexican tele.

  • The first tele is no longer available and I don't have a guitar I'm willing to sell at the moment but thanks for asking.

    John

  • @InvadeTheAirwaves JAPANESE. Of course it gets down to specifics and more importantly price. But old guitar and old cars is the saying.

  • OOps Wolfgang

  • Maple fret board is the way to go. I have a Wolfganf with maple fret board. Love it. My next Guitar will be a Telecaster.Love the sound, and feel of the neck.Great Video. Thanks for sharing.

  • Hi John tnx for a PROPER demo of how a Tele' sounds . Crystal clear and real twangy . My kinda sound . LURV it

  • Hey john can you give me an idea on how to get a guitar that would resemble jonny greenwood. I know he has a mixture of sounds but I want a guitar similair to his sound effects the works. I've seen on guitar center and such for 450+ would you recommend them. Only reason I'm asking is because he uses a fender tele as well.

  • excellent video!!i am thinking of buying a tele and i have a quiestion, what is the main difference between a baja, highway one and Mexican standard tele?which do you recommend?

  • What a great sound produced from a very basic tele! Your skill coaxes that to all come together of course.

  • Who cares about the frets looking grimy and dirty? I love that look, when they're all battered and worn.

  • I use my telecaster for everything!! rock, jazz, classical, live, in studio. It does anything and everything! x]

  • would you recommend a telecaster or ibanez art320 between those two? i actually prefer to play more jazz styles and more alternative styles and i wanted to find out which guitars would fit that style

  • are the blacktop HH teles good? i want to buy one to play some rock-blues

  • @MetalInstrumentals not really for rock, they are good blues guitars.

  • @ItzAmazingBrian plenty of teles have been used in rock-- keith richards namely, also jeff beck, jimmy page, and plenty more. teles are the guitar for any genre!

  • @43george01 Yeah, I know, he was asking about the humbucker blacktop tele's which in my opinion would not really be the best option for rock or metal.

  • @43george01 oh sorry I thought you just meant teles in general haha

  • The Japan Teles are great and I've owned them....

  • Ska Ska Ska...We want to see how Telecasters sound with SKA played on them.

  • saludos de mexico

  • *pwns everyone at guitar*

    -anyway...

  • have you ever played on the mexican classic series 60's telecaster?... if so what do you think of it?

  • goes nicely with your sweater :P

  • ladies and gentleman: the electric mariachi band!

  • Hey John,

I'm looking for a real Tele, with a cool vintaged sound, and I was wondering about the Road Worn series. What do you think about it ? Great playing, my hands are shaking when I come across you vid !

  • Yes to the Mexican Roadworn Teles. I've been playing one at the shop. It's cool!!!

  • i like this guitar

  • would you say its a good alternative to a rickenbacker 325?

  • Hey john ive looked at a few different takes on the telecaster like the g&l asat classic .do you think that the mexican import for the telecaster is a worth while guitar to by for a good long lasting one?

  • The Mexican Tele is a little heavy and a bit of a knock out from the factory but for the money they're OK. For me nothing beats a good Amarican Tele. I don't care what people say. I can tell the difference.

  • @johnhguitar Right on, there is a large difference. I suppose if you can't tell the difference, then it doesn't matter what instrument you buy. The pickups are not as warm, the neck is not as straight and either are the frets. The hardware is cheap too.

  • You'll never know when you find a pack of crack cocaine in one of those Mexican made guitars.

  • @Pasubalispongecola Shut the fuck up

  • I love how glassy the neck pickup sounds

  • The Mexican Telecasters are Great.

So are the New Black Top Guitars.

  • can you make a tele sound like a rickenbacker 325?

  • I love the twangy sound of these guitars. also they sound good playing any sort of music

  • I'm glad i just ordered my bass with a maple neck.

  • have you ever used a manson?

  • Got a Fender telecaster American standard about a year ago, worth every dime i bought it for!

  • I like the "steely" sound of Fender, especially the telecaster.

  • stratocaster are better il give you three stars for performance

  • the pickups are so nice, i've had on for a year, just amazing

  • those mexicans did a dang good job

  • I got that one in sunburst :D

  • two words....Buck..Owens..

  • hey do you think a telecaster its better than a Ephiphonic les paul ?? I like playing led zeppelin music (since i been loving you...)

  • @jorgep8nt those 2 arent even in comparison. les paul is gonna have a chunky sound cause it humbuckers and its a heavy dense guitar and a tele is normal weight with single coils. dont even know which song that is but seing as jimmy page played a les paul i would say a les paul is better for that music.

  • You can never go wrong with a Tele that matches your shirt.

  • @Whatafilmz haha!

  • how is the sustain?

  • Superb playing my friend! I have a question though: What's your thoughts on the Highway One Telecasters?

  • A student of mine bought one for $300. It's the best American instrument for the money no doubt. I should have grabbed it for myself!!!!!!

  • AAAH! Too much reverb!

  • U have got some real" style.

  • What model is this? I checked the site and can't find this wonderful color.

  • It's just a Mexican one. They have the same one, green, at the guitar shoppe in Laguna Beach, Calif.

  • Mexico?

  • Ninety degrees man, not 45

  • What was your first guitar?

  • My first electric was a Les Paul Junior. My first steel string acoustic was a Harmony

    Archtop....

  • hi john, do you have any idea what the inlays on a maple neck are made out of? ive been trying to figure that out for awhile now....is it black plastic or what?

  • As you black plastic I believe.

  • I have an Epiphone Dot series. it never stays in tune for long and I want some notes that will sustain. I'm looking for a sound and I got some pedals, but I'm highly considering getting an American Telecaster. Went to guitar center and loved the twang of it. What do you think?

  • These two guitars are so totally different you'll have to make that kind of decision with your own ears......

  • I love teles but i keep getting them and after a while I miss humbuckers and end up putting them in. Then I seem to follow the same route and sell them get a standard tele and start again.......Its like a vicious circle I love humbuckers for metal but think the tele is the sexiest guitar ever built. I have just bought a jim root tele with EMGs in it now, lets see how long i have this before i go back to a standard ;0)

  • Hello John, I`m spending some time lately to learn chicken` pickin` and often heard that you need a Telecaster and a combination of compression and delay to get the true sound. If I would get a compressor effects pedal (stomp box), would the delay on my amp, Marshall MG 100 FX, be sufficient for starters or do I have to get an extra delay pedal....?

Adore your work, yes Sir.....best wishes......

  • Telecaster yes but the delay and the compression I don't know. I like a good Fender tube amp and the Tele and that's it.

  • @johnhguitar how heavy is that guitar?

looks like it's a lot heavier than a stratocaster

  • This Mexican tele is a bit heavy. Remember, the weight varies depending on the wood even with same models.

  • Lmao "Anyway......"

  • could he use some gain?

  • damn it. now i need a tele.

  • My telecaster is the most versatile guitar I have.

  • The tele matches your shirt man!

  • John, I have a Mexican Tele. What is the difference in quality, if any between the Mexican and the American made Telecasters?

    Thanks in advance.

  • @OverSword I think it has to do with having a better action, a better fret job, and pickups. I haven't played the 2 but I've got a Gibson LP and if you pick up an Epi LP standard and a Gibson LP standard you don't have to know the difference, you just KNOW and FEEL that the Gibson is better.

It's probably the same thing with american vs mexican, you'll feel it in the store, the american will be better, and the more you play it, the more you'll feel it.

  • @OverSword I had a friend who worked at Guitar Center. He said that there was very little difference. He suggested that the American-made was only set-up better. With a little work, the MIM was just as good. Perhaps he was right. I have a MIM and I like it a lot!

  • What i like about this guitar is that it can be used for any kind of music... Just look at Jim Root from slipknot, John 5, and all the country musicians using it!

  • the color is? green what?

  • @Avssolut

Looks more like Fender's idea of 'Pewter'.

  • Isn't it the opposite John, I see maple necks with the wear and tear you talk about and the rosewood and ebony stays or looks the same. I see maple necks with the markings all over the neck from years of gigging, never seen a rosewood do that??? Nice tone you have anyways and you got style too. Peace

  • love the sound. absolutely with no doubt its just that it looks so.... weird. God, im shallow.

  • bzzzzzzz do i hear single coil buzzz bzzzzz?

  • taht is one of the ugliest guitars ever -.-'

  • @OutTAGetMe10 I will hunt you down.

  • This is what I call a review.

  • Hi, i am more like rock funk jazz guitar player and i'm wondering what to buy, a strat or a tele please guive me an opinion xD peace
