somone I know used to work backstage at the Manchester Palace Theatre in the North West of England which is where the UK tour of Mary Poppins stopped at for three months and two weeks. She got to work on the actual show backstage as a dresser with costume quick changes and wigs and props etc. She also went to a couple of parties with the cast including a halloween party where the cast and crew all dressed up. Daniel Crossley played Bert and Caroline Sheen and Lisa O Hare played Mary! xx
ive just had a lovely email from Steffanie Leigh who is currently playing Mary Poppins here in the US on the tour. She has said that the tour is now in its third year and will be closing in Feb of next year. After that a smaller version of the tour will open. This is just a business decision with disney and Cameron Mackintosh LTD, it will cost less money to run the smaller tour so they will be able to run it for a longer time.
I am thrilled to be able to tell people that the new Mary Poppins Catherine Walker who has understudied in New York will be joining the national tour in late February which is when Caroline Sheen leaves the tour and returns to her Little welsh home. The new touring Mary Poppins is Catherine Walker. I am over the bloody moon because she is the best. Best of luck Catherine and knock them dead.xxxlove u xx
has anyone heard the new temper temper song playing the game yet? do you know where I can get the audio or see a clip of this new song and scene please?
she does not stick to the original choegraphy:( she does her own thing and she is supposed to have the brolly under her left arm during the run up at the end of Step in time but instead she holds it in her right hand and the wrong way up plus her steps are wrong when she is dancing with the sweeps at the start of the video
her choegraphy is not wrong just slightly diffrent they must have changed some of the choegraphy as when you see the vid at the start you see her during a peformance then rehearsing and the steps are the same
they look completely different to me because LMK used to put her hand over her head when she danced with the sweeps and caroline did the same where as ashley makes a precise circle with her hand and it never goes over her head when it should do. i wish they would not mess around with the dancing it confuses everybody
each actress does certain parts differently... carrying the umbrella, little bits of footwork, the begining of Supercal, how they walk up the stairs etc. They are given a lot of freedom to work on those bits and do them how they like, I've seen 8 different Mary Poppins' and no two have been the same.
I must say, Scarlett Strallen's new choreography in New York is amazing, and all other Mary Poppins' dance sequences are paled in comparison...they've really spruced up her bits in New York! :)
terrible! the clips of them in rehearsals are old clips from 2006 when they were rehearsing for Broadway and the clip from step in time is the broadway cast in new york and not the us tour :( why oh why do disney not film any new clips from the tours and let us see the national tour cast
