just watched French special forces movie and this is the title tune for the helicopter intro, had to get some Bad Mick jones is a legend, RIP Joe strummer !
most of the time live music is better, but this song's gap between the live version and the record version is incredible. the single can't hold anything to this performance.
Despite the cheesy synth drums, this track still kicks any modern mainstream "rock" band's ass. Who besides braindead teens needs to hear shit like 30SecondsToSuicide, Greenday, mUse and Blink anyway?
Greeeat footage! Not crazy about the higher pitched singing in this verision, though...the style in which it is sung on the the album cut is a big part of what makes this tune.
@BEARARMZ he didnt really want to go back to punk, thats evident in the mescaleros which became more folk like. either way everything he did sounded awesome, except maybe cut the crap.
@wookiewhat the mescaleros wasnt right after the clash broke up like BAD. he did want to go to punk. he had a mohawk and made cut the crap. the only good song on there was this is england. i have almost all the clash documentaries and yeah he did want to back to punk. he felt the clash sold out and needed to go back those early days in london 1976, but unfortunately that scene was dead.
This is along with the Clash and Big audio one of the most important music groups in history, Just like the Beatles! Just listen to the words and the beat!
@HyperboreanUK Can you help me hear him sing out of tune at Lollapalooza? The only way I can go is if I win tickets in this contest. Just gimme a thumbs up on my video - it's all I need. And then I'll owe you my soul.
I really used to get into their Megatop Phoenix CD (after I played out the first one I had BAD NO 10 Upping Street) get wasted and listened to that second CD straight through with all those sound clips of a Asian chick whipping some dude and Captain Scarlet clips too, cracked me up. Those people at that show look really really happy. Like chemicals were involved, lol.
You in New Orleans? Man, I'm the jealous one! BAD played a flawless set, never hit a bum note. Highlight of the night: battle of all saints road - utterly fantastic
I was there for this one, it was a free all day gig on Clapham Common. Shame BAD only got to do three songs as they and Gil Scott Heron were the highlight acts.
B.A.D Shows that anyone can get a record deal with an awsome accent, great members, and a smash hit like this. btw im only 14 wasn't even born in the 80's and this is one of the best songs I'v ever heard. Big Audio Dynomite Forever :)

love it ,lucky enough to watch this at the newport centre.bad stopped after every track to reharge the "beatbox" ..this is music, million times better than the SHIT NOWADAYS
God Mick Jones is the Man!!!! and was the brains behind all the good clash songs, and from the first time i heard this song witch was proly bout two years ago iv never gotin tired of it, i think its one of the greatest songs ever er er definatly top shelf shit, plus look what there waering so fucking cool but thats just me im way into music
this song is all about the film 'Performance' a fucking awful film starring Mick Jagger, however to comare this to Billy Joel's song is utterly ridiculous,Joel's song has the 'rap' bit but has the authenticity of his liftime wrapped up in one(thought pretty lenghty song).
I saw BAD at MK Bowl about 2 yrs after this and they, with ASWAD,blew me away and to think,I was, and still and a heavy ish rock fan is unfuckingbelievable.
Spurs won again today........life dont get much better
80s' music was defiantly the era,i grow up in Australia and we had good music,my only regret in life is that i wasnt in england at that time, were the music was unreal,so many great bands, new romantics the list was endless.talk talk, big audio, psychic furs just to name a few.
Wasn't this Free Mandela concert at Clapham Common? I think it is. I was there and sadly BAD only had time for a short set as 10pm nosie restriction shut them down. I remember Jonesy apologising for it at the end.
Great band.I saw them play a gig in Lower Manhatten in the early 90's, in a kind of old wherehouse, very basic but a great night.Trouble was,any time Jones spoke the Yanks hadn't a clue what he was saying. He was asked by a few to speak English, trouble was ,he was...diction is not somthing he does well...now music,a different matter !!
I really love this song, but this version makes me love it even more. Amazing vocals, and the way the band go for it at the end is live music at its best.
