Are you using John Petrucci's newest pickups from Dimarzio (LiquiFire and Crunch Lab) or do you use Dimarzio D-Sonic and Air Norton, or perhaps some different pickups? I'm going to buy a EBMM JP BFR F-1 and I'm wondering if you can get a "real" strat-sound out of it.
Hey, this i going to sound kinda strange, but here goes. I have one of these on order at the moment, but ever since I ordered it I've felt like it's not really worth the money... I've also recently played some high end JEMs and an RG4570z - having never seen one of these person (i know, right?) is it really worth it?
I'm curious...does the JP MM trem stay in tune consistently like a Floyd Rose? I have considered buying a JP MM, but wasn't for sure of the single locking trem...
If you put the strings to your MM on a right way, the tune will be perfect, believe me!
I had 4 JP right now, and before them I used only FR guitars. I changed, cause this tremolo is just the best on the market! It's much easier to setup than the FR system, but exactly works like that!
If you check my Official Ernie Ball Music Man YouTube Artist video, you can see what I'm talking about.
0:23 - 0:25 seconds.. is a Petrucci lick from one of his solo's. When I hear it again I'll tell you which solo it's from. But you play that lick a few times in this clip.
The rake technique? Or the bending(s)? Thousands of guitarist use these stuff, as the others as well. No one can show new things, a million people played everything before. The only one question is do you know all of them, or not?

@Fear3001 a matter of taste, but the jp6 has more powerful pickups, 24 frets, a thinner neck, and a piezo. Overall it wins in my book

What tone or interval do you like to land on when you're ending a line? Does it depend on the chord or mode?
Rhamsody 2 years ago
Just wondering mate, with that hairband thing being on the headstock side of the nut, does it still do a bit to dampen the strings a bit there?
jforsyth9 2 years ago
Damn great Sceleton, again. Just as much Petrucci as Shadows or Al di meola:-) its YOU, man!

Awesome playing and sound! I didn't really hear any Petrucci in there...sounds more in the style of Vai to me...good solo though!

This is very interesting, because everybody feels and thinks different things. I think principally this is me..
sceletor 2 years ago
Why do you keep that elastic type thingy on your nut? is it to reduce string buzz?
shaqdaddy11 2 years ago
Exactly!

I swear some of those licks were taking from petrucci solos.
