@QueenNBA He uses DR Strings, the big dreadnought guitar is a Maton Messiah and the smaller one (for the solo) is his Maton custom shop Court Jester.
I learned this song from your videos and it got me laid! Lol, this was not my intention, I just love this song, but hey, it was a bonus!!! Thanks buddy
Thank you a lot Justin!! I think you know, but i must say once more that you are doing a very important deal and many many people have the possibility to learn so much on guitar!!! Thak you!! You are great man!
Absolutely the best "Wish You Were Here" lessons on the net!! How 'bout doing a 5th lesson for the 2nd solo that occurs at 2:23 and at 4:12 in the song? Keep up the great work! Thx
The C is actually played with your 3rd finger on the 3rd fret of the fifth string and your pinkie on the 3rd fret of the Low E string. It does sound a lot fuller.
Justin, The Great Presenter! Well Done my friend. I play around a lot; had a couple lessons but could never have learned Wish You Were Here without you. Going out to my back deck with my mediocre Dean acoustic to practice all 4 after replaying them about 20 times each. Thanks, Brother....if ever in New Jersey.......
thank u very much dude it was my all time fav song at didnt think it was possible to learn thanks to u im now well on my way to bein a better player cheers bro very much
You're partly right about the mouth thing. It is actually Dave playing slide on electric guitar, while simultaneously doubling the part with his own voice. It was in an interview he did with Guitar World. Although he didn't specifically mention it, I'd be willing to bet that the guitar was put through a reverb unit or a Leslie speaker or both, as Pink Floyd was fond of doing back in those days.
Anyway, there is one part after the verse, and a second similar part in the outro after the chorus
I really like the way you teach. You are excellent.
do you think you could go one further and show the GM scale that this song is written in for the purpose of improv? ( i guess we are playing the chords in open position, so if I wanted to improv here, where and how would you suggest the positioning be best? and what kind of scale, a pentatonic? i need help understanding how to do this part. thinking it out is a puzzle to me. i hope my question makes sense). thanks for any help. Dee
I just started playing the guitar about a month or so ago and I can already play this song thanks to you! You method if teaching is really the best....Thanks so much!

There's definately a second solo, it's right after the word cage and is played on an electric guitar with what sounds like a reverb effect

I just started playing guitar and I still can't get the strumming pattern for the verse
It's like: C: down, up, down, up , down, down, down, up, down, up, D: down, up, down, down, down, up, down, up, Am: down, up, down, down, down, up, down, up. G: own, up, down, down, down, up, down, up, D, C, Am, G.
Am I right?
Koga001 3 years ago
If you're willing to take advice from another novice then here goes.
Each chord follows the same basic strum pattern in 16ths as follows...
down - - - / down up - - / down - - - / down up down -
Where there is a hyphen the strings are missed on the way up or down.
The misses are important as your hand should keep moving at the same speed to keep the rhythm.
Got this from lesson 2 of 4 for this song.
Hope it helps.
P.S. He says improvise around this basic pattern!
