  • why does mine got pedal less buttons

  • Nice Job. I have seen many M3's for cheap these days and since the B3 is way out there in price range The M3 looks better and better every day !

  • Q: Does it have a leslie speaker?

  • Dear, is it possible to put more drawbars at M3?

  • We have a model M3, Where can i get the pedals fixed? or are they just there for looks?

  • Thanks for explaining everything on this organ! I actually have one of these... but I can't believe people gig with this thing! I think its very heavy and cumbersome! Mine hasn't been operated in years, do you know where I can find oil for the motor? I'm hoping go get it fired up! Thanks!

  • papanucc.bandcamp

    Using M3 and NEO Ventilator.

  • Im Sorry for my gramar, but with my grammar or Not you Talk to Much I see you video a Gain and you Play very, very Poor.

Sorry but when you Make another Video ,please play music and Talk less

Because you TTTTTTALLLKKK to Much and Play Nothing

  • @angelissynth Thank you very, very much. In the meantime, please check one of my very, very poor song.

  • @angelissynth Yeah, the title says "features and functions...". It is exactly what it says it is... a video of the features and functions. Frankly it's a wonderful tutorial and I love it.

  • @angelissynth you are a douchebag. A very very poor douchebag.

  • @angelissynth LOL... Fck off Borat.

  • I WANT AN M3.... OH MY GOD

  • to much talk and his played to poor i can´t lestening the diference of b3 and m3

he spend my time he never play nord lead b3 .

  • @angelissynth - too much poor grammar in your criticism of this demo! If you knew your Hammonds you would appreciate his discussion of the differences between M3 and B3 without 10 minutes of someone just playing to understand this. Oh, and by the way, your self-indulgent instrumental keyboards leads with the SY-77 are weak and completely boring. You might want to title them "Experimenting with the Mod Wheel". Finally, someone should spell check your video credits before you post those videos.

  • @ElevenBravo - Hilarious....thank you

  • swt demo!

  • Your voice is so Soothing I listen to this video to help me fall asleep. Your really relaxed with your tone and your whole swagger if you will.

  • Foldback is pretty standard for the M3s nowadays, I didn't see a single M3 on sale in the last few years which didn't have foldback.

  • @Sycsa Wish I new where to get one. Everything I have looked at did not have Foldback...

  • Thanks - Great Overview

  • ps.... i had my little M-3 hooked up to a Leslie, a Hammond Reverb unit, an old large cabinet made by the Hammond Clock company, and also to a Hammond PR 40 (actually didn't use the PR 40 much).... the others when balanced and positioned right sounded great!! :)

  • I used to play a M-3 for a long time. What i really liked about it was the bass - it didn't have vibrato in the bass like the B-3 and to me I could make it sound more like a bass guitar. The M-3 also had a little slide switch on the volume pedal that would hold the bass pedals in a long fade until another was pushed... really good for making them smooth as you go from one to the other. I added a device of two rotataing knobs on the right lower panel that duplicated the presets of the B-3.

  • Thank you so much for all of the comparisons.

Would it be a good deal if I were to get this organ with a Leslie 25 for $400?

    Thank you,

    Zac

  • Hi... when you show the last drawbar harmonic... reaching that F#... well, in my Hammond M3, it actually reaches the F# an octave higher. So you may want to have that checked out. And you do get that screaming sound adding the other harmonics that reach that high C plus amplifying the organ through a Leslie, using the vibrato C3 and the fast Leslie.

  • Great video. Very thorough and helpful. I appreciate it! I'm thinking about purchasing one...

  • @nathanmickle

Glad you enjoyed it. Ill be posting some new video showing my new set up(M3 with NEO Ventilator. Some softsynths Im using instead of the Nord Electro....

  • I have a 1959 M3 that I need to have some minor work to the tone wheels, (about 98% functional).

I love how much like a B3 this thing sounds like. I use a Roland VK8m for gigging. I wish I had a Leslie cabinet or at least the Bos RT-20 rotory pedal.

Great demo, really gave me some ideas on tweaking my own sounds

  • does the m3 have the rotary leslie?

  • Sure. Best way to do that is have a 1/4 tap out kit and get a TrekII combo pedal. This will

Give you 1/4" in and a wide variety of choices for different Leslie connections.

  • Can I use a Leslie 122 with an M3?

  • What many people don't know is if you set the vibrato depth or the vibrato/chorus selector tab half way(in the middle) you get a vibrato unique to the M3. & with one of tabs (I believe the vibrato/chorus on/off tab) if you set it 3/4 of the way off you get a chorus that sounds almost leslie-esk. Problem sometimes with the latter is keeping it in this position, but I had great luck with it for 3 years, until I got rid of the M3.

  • @ThatsABiggon Also on the m100 organ

  • @ThatsABiggon also the m100 series has the same one unique (half)vibrato.

  • Damn! I was surprised how much like a Connie this thing can sound! I'm sold on this!

  • Thanks a lot for this!

I am new to organs and thinking of picking up one of these, and this was a really informative and clear overview.

  • Thank you for the overview of features, it's much appreciated. I recently converted a 61 M3 to be portable and you had mentioned upper foldback kits any chance you have info on that?

    Peace

    Jack

  • Great video! Wish I could've heard you jam out more! I am a guitar player who loves organ, and I have my eye on a 1958 M3 that is for sale for $300. I was thinking this would be something good to learn on and record with. What do you think?

  • Nice video. Now I know what to expect from my $100 M3 (and what not to expect). Considering that I am a bass player, and mediocre at keys, it's a good start for me.

  • I've plugged in a Laptop Hammond vsti clone to the RCA input on the M3's volume pedal and now the clone plays through the Leslie. It's easy to use the clone to replace the missing low end keys on the M3. This combination is incredible. Thanks for your help!

    M3 - $400

    Used Laptop - $250

    vsti software $50

    Leslie 145 - $700

    Connection kit $150

For $1500 I have a REAL Hammond...beats paying $2500 for the New Hammond Clone!

  • Pappanucc

Thank you for doing this video. I bought a 1960 M3 with a Leslie 145 because of your advice and analysis. I had the seller put in a 1/4" out kit on the leslie connection and now I have an awesome set-up. I use the 1/4 out through a tube amp to get that Jon Lord Growl...sing SMOKE ON THE WATER with me!

  • is that a macpodz tee?

  • Hell yeah! Great band!

  • Just saw them again last night with Umphrey's McGee! Great Music all night, plust next door, 4finger5 (another michigan band) that rips it up! Heard some Hammond music in Umphrey's of course..

  • great vid!!! 5*

  • Thank you.

  • are you playing it through a leslie or the built in speaker?

  • The thing about an M3 is that there are these tiny white wires that are soldered to each key, giving it it's distinctive tone. For some reason, they soldered the last 18 wires containing the high frequencies to a ground lug instead of the keys. So, the frequencies are there to have fold back. You have to unsolder the wires, seperate and use a multi-meter to see which wire goes to which key. It can be done, Also, when you play the 1st D key on both manuals, the bass drops out. Is that just me?

  • Not sure. I dont see to have that problem....

  • Looks like we have a lot in common!!!! I saw the babe on your "strap on". We have a 3 year old, and 6month old twins. I have the SAME setup as you, except for the nord. I've got a freakin' 88 key Kurz laying on top, lol. Too big, it overlaps the organ. Ha. Cool to see others out there that have this in common. Take care man,...

  • Hope all is well with the fam...We have another one on the way....

  • Can it emulate a church organ?

  • i recently purchased a m3 and leslie 251 on craigslist, the person had it wired out to the leslie adapter but reconnected it to the internal speaker, i still had the leslie adapter and the wiring is semi- put together, i just need to know which cord am i taking from the internal power supply to wire it back to the 251 hope im making sense any suggestions?

  • Not sure. TrekII makes a COMO pre amp that may work.

  • Very helpful. Thanks for posting this. Did you chop this organ yourself?

  • You using a Leslie? What model?

  • Sort of. Its a Motion Sound Pro 3t with Low pro.

  • I like that percussive stuff you did at the end.

    Damn geography and time! :)

  • Can't beat that scanner vibrato.

    Great sound!

  • Fantastic! Please let me know if you have any questions and enjoy!

  • Just bought one of these and your demo helped a whole lot. Thanks man.

  • Thanks, good demo

  • That would be nice to get more gain for the organs preamp...but not a deal breaker if you have a good Leslie and push that input.... Thanks for checking it peace.

  • How do you hook up a volume pedal instead of using the one in the organ?

  • I have a 1/4" out off of the pre amp of the m3. You can buy this kit for the M3 online. I just go into a volume pedal from that point.

  • Oh ok so it has nothing to do with the volume swell on the preamp? I've seen chopped B-3s and such with 1/4" jacks for the actual swell pedal.

  • Good stuff brotha. Are you running on a Leslie?

  • Yes. I am using the MotionSound Pro3t with a LowPro(Bottom Rotor). Thanks for checking it out.

  • So much cooler than that red board... ;)
