  • Excellent. Thank you so much for sharing this :-)

  • so you just sew along where you put the pins?

  • @sarahsy90

You should baste first, then you can sew along the thread marks.

  • This is the best dart explanation I've ever seen. Now I know why my skirts have been too bulky. I like the red line at the dress form's exact waist.

  • @cat5ify

    Thanks for your kind words.

  • GREAT JOB, I LOVE IT!!!

  • deng so...hows it look after it stiched up?i sew myself and those manikans statues acost a lot...so i just do what i can.

  • I wish your bodice had more curves, hips, buttocks like a real woman....she's too flat.

  • So now that you have pinned it tight to the mannequin how do you remove it so you can finishputting the skirt together? Can you show a video where you complete the skirt?

  • @SuchaCaligrrl Your comment is very interesting... I feel that because she never had side seams or a center seam in the it makes hella of difficult to actually sew this...I believe that her demonstration was just to illustrate the purpose of darts...When actually constructing the pattern you have to take into consideration other factors like zipper placement and vent if any...in this, the zipper placement will end up probably where a dart would be...like the side or centerback..

  • @screus69 I could not help but noticed that you are a fashion designer... Fabulous... Can you share some of your creations with us.

  • @SuchaCaligrrl

    Hi,

you can find some of my work on eSewingWorkshop(dot)com and SewingWorkshop(dot)ca

  • @SuchaCaligrrl

I have done this to show you how the darts work on a skirt, where they are positioned. Also in the full lesson at eSewingWorkshop(dot)com I divide by 9 to calculate the dart intakes.

  • Hi I have a Question ? in this skirt there is no room to move or sit from what i can I may be wrong please respond thank you

    :~)

  • Hi sabrinagypsy. Yes, you are correct that there is not a lot of room in this style of skirt. Nonetheless, it is a classic.

The straight or tapered skirt or pencil skirt is not a substitute for lazy pants or sweats. No one lounges about or does high kicks in this type of bottom. However, it is tailored and ladylike and looks great as part of a power suit.

If you have claustrophobic tendencies, you could create your skirt out of a fabric with a little give, or make a slit in the back.

  • lol! You're persian aren't you!

  • Wonderful! Very helpful thank you!

  • Hi,

Thank you so much for this video. I would love to see a video showing how to make a lined skirt. How is the lining attached to the skirt?

    Thank you.
