Why are charities exempt from the federal do-not-call list?

this sucks. I get calls from the "police athletic league"  3 times a day and I asked them to take me off their list. I have a right to not be harassed while I'm eating dinner. This is wrong.

I agree! I tell every Charity that calls me that while they may be legally exempt, they obviously disregard the wishes of myself (and millions of other subscribers to the DNC Registry) and as such I will not donate to their cause.

I have registered for this do not call list and I keep getting a call from 866 555 1212 and when I call them back, a recording tells me that this number is not available. WTF is that all about?

Seriously, I'd like to see a similar list that would prevent Jehovah's Witnesses from continually coming to a person's house, even after the homeowner has repeatedly asked them not to come back. For the record, the JW response is they'll come back even after you've said don't because they don't want you to go to hell.

easy fix - call the police and get the restraining order. tell police they harrasing you which is a punishable offense.

I was sharpening my machete one day when a pair of religious kooks knocked on my door. I answered with the machete in clear view and told them to never came back. Guess what - that was five years ago and they have never come back since!
