  • just tell me whos that guy on drums? his like wtf??!?!!

  • @ktyczynski Sean Rickman one of the best drummers I have ever heard :)

  • is their anything more beautiful than this man playing guitar? i don't know.

  • best song ever!

shawn lane and sean rickman rulz!!!

  • After all these years listening to music I never thought i would hear something like this again. Sean has been a true inspiration to me in searching for music that matters.

Thank you to the uploader of this video who has been fabulous.

May this music never be forgotten.

  • I love this song so much

  • I watch this video whenever I am down and in the next 8 minutes, I am back to normal!

  • You of my fav's, brilliant tune!!!

  • Genius...

  • I know of no other human that has had his gift.......... living or past....His music is Divine .........Sent on high to his mind and then his fingers by the Supreme power.

If anyone can bring to the light of day a talent to equal that of Shawn Lane then please do so .

    That.s what I thought ............................I can't see it happening

  • perhaps my favorite song

  • Beautiful composition and beautiful guitar playing.

  • God, that trance that Shawn goes in at 2:14 is SO SEXY

  • A genious..

  • incredible, there is nothing more i can say

  • For those curious about the tritone, it is simply an interval of three whole tones. For example if I have a root of E, the first wholetone from the root is F#, the second is G# and the tritone (third wholetone from the root) is A#. It is also known as a diminished 5th or Augmented 4th; depending on how you look at it. But technically, Tritone = Augmented 4th. I am only giving an educated guess here, but I would assume Tritone tuning is B F B F B F where the Low E is tuned down to the B. Sorry i

  • @3:00, the most soulful phrase I've ever heard

  • @Jcam1sfly

    for me it's 3:25-3:30 ;-) :P

  • Amazing...love it!

  • Shawn was the best, is the best and will remain immortally the best!

  • Wow even the great Shawn Lane makes the odd mistake 2:09 - 2:13! Still a superhuman though. Anyone else seen how difficult that passage is? Awesome song. The man was an absolute genius

  • @Shinmeiryu O H MY GOD HOW DO YOU DO THAT, FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU'RE IN A STANDARD TUNING, HOW DO YOU TUNE IT TO TRITONES?

  • @meowtrox first, you turn off caps lock.

  • WHAT'S A TRITONE TUNING??

  • @meowtrox I think it's when you're tuned to sharp fours instead of perfect fourths.

  • @Shinmeiryu O H MY GOD HOW DO YOU DO THAT, FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU'RE IN A STANDARD TUNING, HOW DO YOU TUNE IT TO TRITONES?

  • i think its sad how people like shawn lane are taken away from us when gangsters/ bogans are free to roam the street and do nothing but corrup society... take them nextime we dont need them one bit

  • holy shit he's fast!!(now just because you cant play that fast that doesnt mean that you have to reply to my comment saying that being able to shred is nonimportant, because it is infact "very" important)

  • The really sad thing about Shawn Lane isn't that he was the most profecient guitarist, it isn't that he had the most incredible melodies, it isn't that he was just as good on the piano. The sad thing is that he stopped pracicing at age 16. I'm almost 16.

    ...DAMMIT!...

  • @ialmostbowlverywell

you think exactly like me :(

  • @ialmostbowlverywell Haha, well he stopped because he thought his technique was good enough for the music in his head, and I think that's what matters (although it's still boggling how he achieved this...). He never played for technique's sake. Lots of younger people today can easily surpass Shawn, and I'm sure they just haven't been found yet. But in terms of satisfaction, this man got the most out his playing (regardless of technique) than anyone I've ever seen or heard so far.

  • @tastytasters bold statement saying lots of young guitar players can surpass Shawn...somhow i can't see that.

  • @Kingding6 Well there's a large difference in "can surpass" and "will surpass" ;) lol. Some Math wiz at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology could be the next closest thing we might experience had he/she picked up music lessons. The only that is certain is that people will keep getting better and better so i don't see any reason why Shawn, monstrous as he is, will be the final ceiling for the guitar. :) Shawn could have taken up poetry and might have been the next Shakespeare, but he didn't.

  • @tastytasters I can believe that last part for sure, he probably could have been an oboe virtuoso

  • @Kingding6 Haha that's what being a savant can give you :P. But I'd wager one to two decade's time will get us another freakish player. Anton Oparin holds "some" promise but I'm not counting on him just yet. That kid has the blueprint for being great, I just hope he sticks with it.

  • @tastytasters Yea I've seen some of his stuff, extremley talanted for his age, hopefuly he does stick with it, cause he could be a potential great.

  • @Kingding6 potential great? that kids better than most career players... dont even be silly.

  • @RSwordIAAA I meant in terms of composistion. Obviously the techniwue and skill are there, but time will tell if his mind is as beautiful as Shawns was.

  • @TheCowsword Thanks so much, i really appreciate it! :)

  • what kind of guitar is that he's playing here...i know he normally plays vigier but i can't tell that brand name doesn't look like vigier to me

  • @charvinaldo That is a charvel 750xl. One of the most sought after guitars.

  • after watching this i feel like i just watched a movie. he just like, lets his soul go flying. i feel like i experienced a lifetime of music. its like listening to colors that you can't imagine, and afterwards i just sit here for a moment, totally stunned every time, and when i look around everything looks so silent, and so hollow. this music feels deep, rich, and full. just close your eyes and focus all your energy on absorbing this music, its the most amazing feeling in the world

  • Shawn Lane's music can not be described to a satisfying extent with words, it is something that only can be experienced.. And it's one very good experience!

  • This needs a million more views!

  • @jazzcat99 Yeah, awesome solo here. Shawn used this exact recording of Tri 7/5 for the "Powers of Ten : Live" cd.... only for that he edited about 1 minute out of this solo, plus he added Sax to it later (because Todd Bobo wasn't at this gig).

  • This song makes me cry with joy, only an angel could create such beautiful music! I love you Shawn!

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos:

Thank you for your time you invest to post this amazing videos. But I have one question for you.

Did you know Shawn personally or are you even related to him?

  • Sadly i didn't know Shawn myself, i'm just kinda like a 'Super-Fan'. :-)

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos Shawn's very very lucky to have a FAN like you .... Thanks for all you've done .... Nice job :)

  • @joesatriani2210 Thank you so much!... that really means the world to me! :)

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos i really saddens me that you never got to meet shawn

  • @llwayneio ...Yeah, so many things i love to ask him... but most of all i'd just like to thank him and give him a hug!

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos

is 7/5 referring to a time signature? correct me if im wrong, but isn't that impossible?

  • @Fluffypopcicle Listen to how he's grouping the notes on the acoustic intro - 7/8 and 5/8, in tritone tuning :)

  • @Scratch47

yeah, good point. it's interesting, just what i would expect from shawn. there was a fluffeetalks video asking if you could bring back any celebrity who would it be. i said shawn lane. he didn't deserve to die. R.I.P. shawn lane.

  • 3:25 the best part i've ever heard in my whole life ! So emotional ... why are the good leaving first ? : (

  • 2:10 shawn lane made a mistake, a wrong note. Maybe the the first of his life, haha

  • mozart ,bach ,menuhin,y lane

  • i hold a special place in my heart for the Powers of Ten Live album. one of the most emotional performances i've ever heard, shawn, sean and todd are masters and are untouchably tasteful

  • Great... Love this performance!

  • A great loss....of talent....a unique shredder with a difference...ie he was "musical"

  • Loooooooove this music to death. Shawn's guitar is singing.

Every single note he plays are gems.

  • Yeah, i listen to this track nearly every day when i take Mr. Chucky out for a walk, on my phone, from the PoT: Live cd (Shawn used this Live version of the song for that cd, but he added sax to it at a later dater, because Todd Bobo wasn't actually at this gig to play sax on the day).

    Beatiful tune.

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos

I didn't know that. :D I love sax part. Especially when sax part comes back again after Shawn's guitar solo hafl way through the track. Say hello to Mr Chucky for me will ya? ;-)

  • MyShawnLaneVideos any idea what kind of classical guitar that is?

  • @brandon5pennies

Sorry, i'm not actully sure what make of guitar that was.

  • I think the magic of the tune owes a great deal to Mr. Rickman's brilliant drumming : hats off to you maestro ! This piece is the perfect example of Shawn Lane's talent as a composer, and the way he made sound smooth and natural the more complex and difficult music. The more I hear, the more I admire !

  • This brings me painful memories. I was very young at the time and both Shawn and I were going through a lot. In a way, it haunts me. But I'm glad to know the interest is still here! -sean rickman

  • @theRick70: Sean - you are one of my favorite drummers of all time, I respect you! - Greetings from India!

  • @theRick70 Mr.Rickman, outstanding artists such as you and Shawn Lane will ALWAYS have our interests. Keep up the great work sir.

  • @theRick70 I can't think of any music that interests me more. I was just comparing the performance of "Get You Back" at New Daisy to the one where Shawn played the drums himself, and I must say, your drumming added a lot to the tune; Shawn was the world champ on guitar, but your drumming was light years beyond his. Thanks for the great music, and for coming here and mixing with us dewy eyed fans. Sorry this is painful for you; I hope that changes with time.

  • That got really intense

  • shawn lane is unmatchable

  • 4:00 and onwards has some of the most intense and electrifying playing I have ever seen.

  • 4:45

    Beautiful...

  • I simply never get tired of hearing Shawn, especially with the Powers of Ten band.

  • Utterly Godlike.

Thanks for continuing to share these gems with us WJ :D

  • i wish i could've met him, been his pupil

you never really see real guitar jedis like him, good ones, amazing ones, but ones that are like shawn, they need a totally knew term

  • some beautiful but not major licks going on here he really was blazing the fretboard some very difficult timing 7/5 very odd but fun.

  • i have no idea why i said but not majot licks but they are in major i was meant to say alot of them would take a second guess at being in major.

    amazing!!!

  • @trevskiw2008 I'm not sure why it says "7/5" in the title. There is no such thing as a "5th note". There is 7/4 and 7/8, but no such meter as 7/5. There are thousands of people who write in 5 though; it doesn't rank as one of Lane's more difficult achievements.

  • jesus god almighty. Once again shawn splits the planet in half! God what a loss,

    :( We miss you Shawn!

  • Thank you so much for postin this!!

  • and who decided to not look at shawn while starting his solo lol

  • YEEESSS!!

i was gonna ask you if you've had time to edit this one if needed a few weeks ago, but i didnt want to rush you, and today i was about to give a firm scolding for it not being here yet, thank you very much!

  • holy shit. wtf is he doing?? thats not possible!! ...he was definitely some type of super human of some sort ya no

  • Shawn Lane surpasses every guitarist in the world! no one will ever sound like Shawn Lane!

  • there is only one shawn lane and there were never be another.

  • There are other good guitarists, like Shawns great hero Allan Holdsworth. And my favorite Becker. But you're right Shawn is at the highest level. Really love his playing.

This world would suck if there was only one masterfull player.

  • I cannot agree with you more :), Jason is also my favorite, but Shawn is whole level beyond him in technique

  • Great video, Great Show

  • This song features some of Shawn's most inspired soloing. Gorgeous stuff.

  • AWESOME!

  • Tri-7/5, Tri-Heaven, and Hardcase are my favorite Lane songs -- Hardcase being the best, imo.

  • a very beautiful song the gut string guitar really had such a remarkable tone which really added to the texture again shawn was great!!!

  • wow, this is just so amazing that it brings me to silence

  • first time i seen him play acoustic!

  • Kool, first time ive seen this live

  • Awyeah!!

  • great video

    :)
