Great drive mate. I'm hoping to do Cadwell for the first time this year. Plenty of front end grip in the wet by the looks of it, and well balanced throttle to sort out the rear. Nice one!
Goodyear F1's are simply awesome in the wet! Couldn't believe the level of grip we had available that day. If I ever get my VTS up and running again, that'll be the first circuit i'll be visiting.
hey i bet that was awsome ive done trackdays on a 125cc , 600cc and had a pasenger ride in a cosworth ,at cadwell love the track i bet the jump there felt imense :D
The jump didn't feel anything special really. We broke traction a little bit going over the brow of the hill, that was about it. I've no doubt it would have felt immense in a rwd motor with more than the 90bhp we had, or even better, on a bike :D
It was pretty much standard (mk1 90bhp model) at the time, only mods being: stripped interior, magnex exhaust system inc. decat and green enclosed filter. They are pretty nippy, but it's the handling of these things that impresses you most.
Christ........£3.5k on insurance! Yeah, the suspension setup was completely standard mate, but it was running on ph2 vts rims (15") as opposed to the standard 14" vtr wheels. The mk2 has 98bhp I believe, but not sure if you'd notice much difference between the two.
you've got to be one the first normal saxo drivers ever! most try to say how quick they are and that they had a 140mph out of it!! they handle best on standard spring to be honest, lowred ones just get bumped about too much.
Believe it or not, there's a few 'normal' saxo drivers out there lol. The VTR in the vid is actually a friends, but I do own a saxo (VTS). Yeah, I agree they do handle great on std setup, but can be improved upon If using the right aftermarket springs/dampers etc. They handle crap when lowered too much!
Bloody hell! Just watched that vid of camier. That was a very bad accident. Cadwell takes no prisoners!!!! The mountain didn't really cause us any problems in the wet tbh. Just broke traction slightly coming over the top of the hill.
its probably one of the best tracks in the UK. Your right there though, ive seen some nasty accidents there, and theres been an accident everytime ive been so far lol.
Cadwell looks like a pretty unforgiving circuit at the best of times, but in the wet?! What was the grip like? I'm thinking of doing a trackday there soon and would welcome any tips.
We were running Goodyear F1s and found they offered very good grip considering the conditions. The track surface was very slippy in places (hall bends, hairpin, barn) due to trees over hanging the circuit. Also, there was lots of standing water in places (mainly just before coppice) that you had to watch out for, more so the rwd boys. I've heard lots of stories about cadwell not being very forgiving, and I saw this for myself as a few cars left cadwell looking a bit bent!
good drivin pal! just need a bit of adiagio for stings on!

lol early Saxo VTR's = 90 bhp
Later model VTR's are actually 98 bhp, not 100 bhp.......
:p

Have you had anything done to the car or is it just a standard vtr? seems quite nippy thinking about getting one.

mapexplimmer2 4 years ago
Yeah, alot of cars that day seemed to be struggling for grip, where as we had plenty considering the conditions. Not much overtook us that day.

I'd love to do cadwell again, as it's probably my fav track i've experienced so far and is well suited to hot hatches imo.
I hope you enjoy your trackday there mate :)
