I've had three children and people constantly ask me how I manage to get back in shape after so quickly, and the answer is belly dancing, it works out a woman's hips, back and stomach without overstraining the muscles (which is what causes you to develop a "six pack") it kind of just shapes you but strengthens you at the same time.

i really wonder what sexy belly means? i used to think that sexy belly should not have fat in the center,,, like what sadie has.i used to think that sexy belly is like having abs... but upon seeing this i was like OMG.... they can make and move it.. and at last i got a conclusion... NO MATTER WHAT BELLY LOOKS LIKE AS LONG AS the GIRL IS CONFIDENT SHE IS SEXY AND GORGEOUS!
dont do so much cardio. just eat normal and healthy and do low imapct workout (bellydance and yoga) you will have some meat and muscle will show through. hope that helps :)
I've been practicing and bellydancing for 20 years, and believe me, Sadie's amazing. I'll never be half as good as she is on a bad day. Her precision and control of muscles is what makes her the top.

@RottenBrains71 , i'm a belly dancer, and belly dancing does define the waist but also gives flexible ab muscles rather than tight six pack look. On top of belly dancing i do ab work also to tighten the abs but not enough for six pack. I think the body shape is genetic in kaya and sadie, but belly dancing regularly and eating well will give you a dancers figure rather than an athletic one. Belly dancing is a very intense work out when done with control.
@myguns85 I think its sad that so many Tahitian people comment on bellydancing videos because they're insecure and have nothing else to offer from their culture. :(
I saw Sadie some years ago in NC and was glad to see her in America's Got Talent. She and Kaya both are true professional belly dancers with so much talent. Sure it's sexy, but it's classy. As far as I'm concerned these women have the best bodies around. Belly dancers carry a little beef, needed for the beautiful curves. It may be genetics, because the hips have so much shape. Has to be the sexiest look around, certainly better than skin and bones.
You all friggin' Rock!!!! You need to come to D.C. next year for BOCA (Dr. Sunyatta Amen). If you come, I will definitely be there, for every class you teach!!!
For my experience the REGULARITY is the key. Some people say muscles have to rest one day when having been worked a lot - that was not the case for me. Beware I got ab exercise addicted, they're my favorites :)
back then pilates was not yet a trend but it is said to build great ab muscles. Have not tried it though.
I'd suggest you get "Shape" magazine, and build your own routine with the exercises you like best and that give you the greatest burn in your abs ;)
if anyone is a belly dancer and is reading this, i want to know how do these girls get their bellys like that? that belly dancer belly, i want one? does anyone have any tips or exercises? please message me back!!!!
hi rottenbrains.. what is your goal? have an ultra toned six pack tummy or bellydance well? Bellydancing will NOT give you a sixpack. For 99% of women a sixpack is only attainable with ab exercises.
I started out at age 16 with a magazine called "Shape". They offer great varieties of exercises, try them and see what you like best. I worked out almost every day for several years and got a great six pack with it. KEEPING it is not so hard as BUILDING it. If one day you have little time: 5 min!
If you look at the women in this video do they have a six pack, do they?, no! THEY DONT. My questions is how to get a belly dancers belly not a six pack. as you can see, these belly dancers have some fat that shapes them curvy. I dont want a six pack, I've had a six pack when i was younger and into sports. but now I want a more feminine look to my body exactly how these women in the video have. Can anyone help?
Sadie does IMO. And she advises to do lots of ab exercises to improve one's bellydancing. Kaya has had a baby, that may be the key - being fit, then having a baby.. voilà that nice not too muscular belly :)
I e-mailed Kaya to ask how she got her abs looking so great after having a baby. She recommended the DVD Core Max by Cathe Frederick. I haven't tried it yet, but it's on order.
When you belly dance correctly, you aren't working your abdominal muscles as much as you think. Your working on your TVA or core muscles when you do this, creating a flat look to your stomach :)
@RottenBrains71 its all 2 do with ur body fat percentage. they probably have quite a lot of tummy muscle, but muscle and definition will never show unless ur body fat percentage is low. this is because muscle tissue builds under fat deposits. personally i think whether u have a size pack or not, either one looks good. if u want a more 'feminine' body as u say u jst increase ur fat intake, but WHY would u do that :-/ ?? having a low body fat (especially round the tummy) is really healthy!!
@RottenBrains71 thena agian not all belly dancers need a six pack..alot of the thicker girls do just fine. It depends on the dancer and how they carry themself in this dance. Not so much the curvature of their figure.
@RottenBrains71 I think it's the belly dancing that does that. The muscles you work redistributes the fat and you get a more curvy shape. I love this kind of body as well. It is so feminine.
@RottenBrains71 first of all.. i'm 15 and i have the same exact body type as these girls... okay not as muscular but if your a natural "twig" and if you don't have an hourglass it aint gonna work sweetheart. and im talking hourglass not slope... if you don't have the right body type sorry. and of course they have meat on their bones... have you actually ever seen a twig belly dance??!?!?!? it aint pretty!!
@unluckykoneko112233 first of all I never said anything about me wanting a six pack. A six pack is what I DO NOT WANT! everyone replying to my comment either don't read what i wrote or just don't comprehend my question. I used to run a lot in high school and i had a very fit body very muscle toned. Im over that, I have a curvy body believe me I have HIPS. My question was, how can I get that same belly shape these girls have. I'm not fat nor am I a "twig" I have a very nice but want a belly.
I'm like you; when I was a teenage soccer girl, I had a six pack, among other, masculine, features. I was so muscular I decided to quit sports, and now I have a mostly flat but equally unattractive tummy! I don't think either of us can get what Sadie and Kaya have, because we're predisposed to building strong muscles. But a change in exercise would help; don't add crunches and sit-ups, just practice things like yoga and belly dance that work the belly without beefing it up. (:
@RottenBrains71 you should see a dietician or a nutritionist or something along those lines to put one a specific eating plan to help you put on a bit of weight to get those curves. then obviously to help you stabilise that weight you would need to consult the dietician again.
@RottenBrains71 eat and dance a belly dance this will reshap your wast and give you a feminine curvy body
lear the moves it's so many it's really give you a nice sexy body and you know it's help to feel good it's like therapy i used to belly dance and every time i dance in my room i feel so so good try it
@RottenBrains71 there isnt any particular way, it's all in your genes you know, middle eastern women tend to be curvier. If you are the type of person who watches what they eat carefully and are always on diet, let go of the habit, those fats you'll gain will either be deposited on your breasts/thights/ass. if they're distributed anywhere else control your food habits again :P like i said it all depends on your body
hello if you want more curvs eat more carbs late in the evening and sleep you will develop the fat in no time and to keep your body shaped wear something tight on the waist line to keep your waist small and it will force the fat to gather arownd the bellyboten and have that small coushon that am trying to get rid off :)
rottenbrains I watched some older videos of theirs to see if my assumption is right:
They have PRONOUNCED sixpacks a couple of years ago. Then they must have gained a few pounds, fat is directly under the skin above the muscle. this is what gives the look:
The sixpack is the structure you see, plus some belly fat above it to not make it look like a "bodybuilder's" belly.
You won't get around serious abs exercises to get their look. But you may keep some belly fat for that look ;)
Can anybody tell me if this is a good video? I have the pops, locks and shimmies #1, but am wondering if I should get this one too? It looks too similar to spend money.
Why do people complain about the technicalities of an *instructional* video? My belly dance teacher was Middle Eastern and she was technical as well! It is up to you to "feel" the music when you perform. Some of you need to watch Sadie's *live* performances, especially when she doesn't do drum solos. You can really tell she's enjoying herself. She smiles, interacts with the audience and occasionally when things go wrong (like her earring flies off) she laughs and keeps going.
But there are different levels of technique - some that teach you the Oriental technique to interpret the music well, and some that teach you amazing tricks, for which Sadie is a good example.
I have respect for her for training her body so amazingly well to do the tiny pops and locks to drum music. Yet this is not the type of bellydance practiced in the Mideast by normal women and professional dancers.
don't be jealous cause they are technical dancers, its amazing to a professional do what they do best!! its important to challenge yourself to become a better dancer.
I'm not "jealous" - as I said I find the entire charm of this dance is lost in their way of doing it. Most audiences in the Mideast just would not give a dime for this style at all.
I do consider it for technical challenge though - although I think it often is a dangerous trade-off, the more you play with technique the more one often loses in ability to express the emotion of the music.
I also think the excessive drilling inhibits Western bellydancers to really feel the music= a MUST!

I used to be able to easily prior to kids. I'm new to belly dancing so I can tone and strengthen my muscles but so upset I can't do these pops either.
Love these ladies and their talent!

It's basically a level up from the first dvd. You take what you learned with vol 1 and build on it.

She smiles, interacts with the audience and occasionally when things go wrong (like her earring flies off) she laughs and keeps going.

the problem is that there`s little videos on Sadie performing live and/or when she doest drum solos

Sure this is a technique video.
To me - and many others - it is overtechnical.

they are VERY technical.
most of oriental dance's charm is lost, but I guess their technique helps many people to be better dancers.

don't be jealous cause they are technical dancers, its amazing to a professional do what they do best!! its important to challenge yourself to become a better dancer.
