  • in the koryu jujutsu schools do they roll and have resistance training like we do in bjj or do they just do kata

  • My discipline is Soryu Karate. And i'v heard its a 'little brother' of Shorin Ryu and Shodakan. Kenken Toyama (1888-1966) trained and influenced Michio Koyasu (1925-2005). Ever heard of it?

  • The confusing part of Japanese jujutsu lineage is that many of the systems had only slight variations and various names and some changed their names so everyone thinks everything came from everything. In a very large scope of things yeah but directly not at all. You can't say for instance say that Muso Ryu has anything to do with Daito Ryu directly for an example. You might see some similar stuff because all Japanese jujutsu has similar locks and throws.

  • Was this not one of the Jujutsu ryu which Kano Sensei studied before creating Judo?

  • @larbo1616 Yes..Kano received the scrolls to Tenshin JJ, which means he's the heir. Tenshin's lineage lead to Aikido, but Ueishba did not get that honor.

In other words...Kano was the grandmaster of Tenshin Shinyo Ryo.

  • @novanine9 whoa whoa whoa, aikido's parent is Daito Ryu lets not get carried away saying every other jujutsu ryu spawned Aikido. Takeda teaches Ueshiba and Aikido is born story ends. I don't discredit that Kano learned a traditional jujutsu ryu and it could very well be this one, and that he made Judo from it but it had nothing to do with Aiki arts. I just think its a misconception that everyone who does a jujutsu thinks that Aikido or another Aiki at came from it.

  • @billgober2 the grandson Moriteru Ueshiba confirmed this in his book - The Aikido Master Course - Best of Aikido 2.

  • @msp44 sorry, confirms that his grand father "O" Sensei studied this as his first classic martial art for his short stay in Tokyo as a business man (2 months only)

  • Nice to know this art is still alive and well.

  • i just realized all these moves are universal most martial arts have these lock in one form or another. like the second demo they start from sitting position, the way his oppenente wil shoulder and elbow control is favored alot by fiore in italian school of fencings grappling methods

  • This is better than that crappy brazillian shit we see this is a true art

  • this is a good art but check out AIKIDO its very flulent and powerful it doesent resist any thing

  • @ravisdb Aikido is just a watered down version of daitoryu, aikido is too soft for me I prefer this and daitoryu.

  • @MrDontstareitsrude Depends which Aikido dojo and which Aikidoka you practice with. Our dojo tends to be in the strong part...

  • @RogerGonz

All Aikido is soft its supposed to be

  • @MrDontstareitsrude Yoshinkan, Tomiki, and our Aikikai are not soft; the goal of Aikido is to blend with the attack, however, that doesn't mean no atemi, reversal, kick, stomp, etc., to get the attacker into position where the Aikidoka can blend...

  • @RogerGonz

Your not going to convince me Aikido is just the art of rolling and falling on the floor its not an art its all a show just like TKD

    end of discussion

  • judo is only a combination of ryus...

  • @daemeth Not "only", it's a complete new way of thinking and training, emphatizing randori as no one of old ryu's did before.

  • @Rnt911

  • @daemeth Mixed up with western wrestling and some things created inside Kodokan.

  • @falmeida59 really i though it was just a combo of this and kito ryu

  • @kaindrg ,yes you right! nothing else in judo but those two!!! later ,KANO added technics of KOSEN JUDO(totally " method) to his JUDO!

  • @MegaHitman666 using alot of caps i see

  • @kaindrg ,YAH! Childish Habit! SOME LAUGH!

  • Perfeito!

  • Very precise. No wasted movement.

  • too bad kito ryu isn't taught anymore.

  • I think it still is,look up Itsukushima Kobudo Enbu (on related videos perhaps),after you go through after all the schools, somewhere in there is Kito Ryu Jujutsu

  • the most recent "Kito Ryu" is actually a kata from Judo. there is no verified instructor anymore.

  • Nice video, Kubota-sensei is a very good teacher of this great system of Jujutsu, and as a judo enthusiast, I am very thankful that it is still very much alive.

  • @RKLuffy88 it is how aikido would be if we did stiff style.. i think its called gotai .. and smooth si jutai
