what??? doctor who is brilliant sci fi mate never has there been a sci fi series as imaginitive or as inovative as doctor who this series has won so many prestigious awards and is in the guiness book of records as the most succesfull sci fi programme in the world and rightfully so. red dwarf is just a silly fun filled programme which is meant to be to use your term retarded doctor who on the other hand is just A+ sci fi drama.

It is retarded, it got popular in the first place because it was so bad its funny, now it laughs along with that and they just hand it awards because its been around for so long. Red dwarf is a well written sitcom, its Dr who that is the 'silly fun filled programme'

sorry thats not true, doctor who has always recieved awards for its script writing which is the main strength of the programme is its story telling. sure in the older series the special effects were third rate and the acting very shabby at times but, that worked to the shows advantage people loved the characters and the monsters. the new series is just brilliant and about to get more fantastic. i like red dwarf but i absolutely love doctor who.

@doctorw2 I like Doctor Who but the new series really bothers me. It really isn't fantastic; the Doctor has become too involved with Earth and seems to be making a descent into the dark, tortured hero role. Boring and overdone, not to mention out of place.

Still it seems a bit silly to argue about a comedy that is actually really great, not "so bad it's good". Then again it tends to depend on the series.
