Hey guys, you probably won’t pay any attention to this comment or just mark it as spam… but we’re just trying to receive some comments from experienced prog rock fans to help us improve our music. We’ve just released our first 8 min song preview (no vocals added yet), if you like porcupine tree, tool, pink floyd, pain of salvation, please go to our channel and leave a comment on the song. Any help would be much appreciated! (we are not trying to copy the sound of any of the bands mentioned)
Delicious- point taken. But in the case of this particular song especially,I think John Wesley adds a lot.In fact I think he adds a lot to their live performance in general, and I definitely prefer the live version of this song to the recorded one.
I dont know why everyone talks about Gavin geniusness in every pt video, yea he's really good but Steven Wilson seems to be a underrated guitarrist. That last final solo is great
@lpz2 THAAAANK YOU, my sentiments exactly. Well except for Gavin actually being one of the best modern drummers out there :P. But yeah Steven's a monster guitarist, extremely underrated, I guess his musicianship surpasses his guitar playing and hence everyone overlooks his guitar playing.
We are a band called Watershine and we play progressive metal. Although it's not always so obvious, we are pretty influenced by Porcupine Tree, and we would appreciate if you listened to our demo and maybe left a comment :) Please don't mark this as spam, we're just trying to spread our music!
The really amazing thing about this band to me is that everything I've heard them do live actually sounds better than the recorded versions, which are pretty damn good to begin with. And it's not so much because of improvisation or solos, the songs just sound better.I like the live versions better than the recorded versions, and I don't think I've ever felt that way about another band before.
@klongyaw7 I'd have to disagree on that. The studio versions are some of the most delicious audio I have ever experienced. The live versions are definitely good for live, but nowhere near the sound quality of the originals. Although Hatesong is definitely better live because after getting Gavin, they did so much more with that song.
Correction- this isnt on the dvd or blu-ray. i own both. but i do realize this was from the same set but excluded from the release. i wana try download a good version
@Hallek555 I agree w/ you Halle-he's a great addition, and the band is really balanced now. I was disappointed when Chris Maitland left, as I thought he added a lot to the mix-but Gavin is in another category altogether...My favorite percussionist right nw.. VEEEEEEEEERY tastey drummer...
@kuraxsine Such a tasteful player. Everything he plays has musical value and adds to the song. I enjoy the fill at 1:00...again, very simple but it works so well.
@XDrummerSteve agreed! words cannot describe Gavin's talents, its rare that a drummer can dress up slow/quiet songs with intricate fills and patterns and not overdo it. he nails it every time!
rain keeps crawling down the glass.(pull yourself up together) the good times never seem to last (you know it's not so bad) close your eyes and let the thought pass.
I truly love this band. As I have said before, to listen to them is pure bliss. Porcupine Tree are about as close to heaven as we can come on this earth-their music is intelligent, catchy, and impossible to categorize. They are wildly talented musicians, but never fall into the self indulgent overplaying of other groups that might be called progressive. They can bounce between so many moods and never miss a beat. Everybody watching this video needs to turn their friends onto PT. God Bless PT!
Oh man, where is the "Sooper-Dooper-LIKE!" button? Tasty good schtuff. :) I was lucky to catch their tour of The Incident in Portland and want to see them again.
@WayWaterWay It's not a Gibson. I have no idea what it is, and I'm suprised that SW is using sth else than PRS (and his acoustic), but It's definetly not a Gibson.
@gabrieloliveiramusic he realized that it was a les paul hahaha "where is my PRS whammy bar???" hahahaha "oh I forgot... I´m playing a les paul" hahaha
