  • Please help me! I just loved it, i am a music teacher and i have been teaching music from other culture in my school, and i will very glad if someone can say the name of the song that these lovely kids are performing. thanks a lot

  • @odliver2007

you meant the second song right? (not "the saint")

the title is "maarui inochi" (Japanese:まあるいいのち) by Iruka (Jpn:イルカ)

I remember a life insurance company used this song for their ad few years ago.

since then, widely known in Japan.

there are some vids on youtube

  • I can't believe how Emmie has changed since a year ago......Doug =)

  • r u japanese???

  • @footbalplayer47 No, I am an American. However, my wife and daughter are both Japanese. ~Kurt :-)

  • I can't belive it! In Italy elementary school's children know nothing about music...

  • @iamsthanet Yes, that is indeed our little Emily. She is in 4th grade now though. My, how time flies! ~Kurt :-)

  • I can't believe I was a kid... Time does fly. They did a wonderful job! They're super cute. Hang in there father!

  • why they are swinging from right to left?

     Just joking :) good children

  • ah, reminds me of elementary school. It's so long ago.

  • lol reminds me of my days back in school, i hated to play the flute and those plays xD

  • That rocked : )

  • wow.... so cute.....

  • I wish I could have grown up in Japanese school. I'd be the weird gaijin kid XD

  • That's so cool...

  • AMAZING! I, too, did something like this at school when I was in elementary, but this one is so much better! Please tell Emily that she did well on this! Love your videos, as always!

  • thanks for sharing, that is so much better than what we did

  • Wow, this TOTALLY caught me off guard!

Like a couple of other commenters, this brought back so many sweet memories of my childhood in the grade school in Japan. I was getting very emotional watching this video. I KNOW this song! When they started harmonizing during the last chorus, I got choked up and my eyes started getting misty.

Your daughter will NEVER forget this song as long as she's alive. I can assure you that. There's something about the songs you learn and practice as a young child..

  • Hello TiramisuHappy, I'm delighted that this video brought back some nice memories for you. This song must be a popular one with Japanese elementary schools as the forth grade class at the school where I work (not Emily's school) are learning to sing the same song (in English). I think that you are right about the memory of such musical events in our young lives as having a long and deep memory into adulthood. Thank you as always for commenting and sharing! -Kurt :-)

  • Thank you for uploading, students sing that at my school also. btw, can you post the english version of this song pls. Thank you .

  • Looked like a lot of fun! We never had recorders in school, but my grandpa gave me one to play with as a kid. When the saints, oh when the saints, oh when the saints go marchin' in... :D

    Good job Emily!

    ~Kat

  • thats so cool that they all know the recorder, i remember like what we did was we had a couple people who knew how to play the recorder and couldn't play well, the rest of us, just sort of hummed. lol

  • That its impressive!

  • I really enjoyed that! Thank so much! :)

  • holy cow that was pretty impressive!

  • i wish we did something like that its not fair!!! great video :)

  • Well this was a pleasant suprise =)

Actually brought back some of my times in music school at college. I was paying so much attention to their musicality, the pianist, and the conductor lol

It was a great performance. Well above par to what I grew up around in the states. I don't want to generalize all of Japan this way, but from what I've watched and read, so many schools are with much better music programs than what I'm used to seeing. It's given me yet another reason why I like Japan.

  • Hello JapanielGuerrera, I agree that music does indeed seem to be a strong and important focus here in Japan. Emily seems to always be practicing one instrument or another and it's fascinating how many kids can read music at a very young age. -Kurt :-)

  • So much cute in one place!

  • Brings back memories...
