@dane810 Dude, its just from Ghost in the Shell. Chill out. She's a human who had her brain and spine placed in a robot to survive. What you see isn't something bad. What you see is something wonderful; escape of death via transplantation. Her gun comes from the fact that her body belongs to the military, Section 9.

@sunburst223 Cyborgs/Androids/Robots, in GHOST in the SHELL don't feel pain. People feel pain. She, my good sir, is a cyborg. I mean, people cry when they have limbs blown away and their false skulls crushed, right?
Love this song. Not only is it a great song, but the lyrics are great, and the song does make you ponder what it will be like in the future honestly. Or at least, it makes me wonder...
@xDaveyDeathx Actually, the Future started January 1,2001...but now that the Future has arrived,we must decide....A GLEAMING PARADISE...OR AN ORWELLIAN NIGHTMARE...
UTOPIA OR DYSTOPIA? we MUST choose and PLEASE...for our children...PLEASE CHOOSE WISELY!
I'm suprised to see some people criticizing the use and synths and vocoders. I think they really give the song a futuristic feel (I mean, the song IS called "In The Year 2525"). It's a cover, you can't expect it to sound the same as the original, that's just uncreative - Well, for a cover, that is...
@JingleJoe right but this is not a remix but the original published version of this beautiful cover version by Visage (including members of Ultravox and the Banshees) first recorded in 1979. I advise you also listen to another beautiful rendition by the band Laibach!
@IoOrdineDisordine In the sense that you are saying it is a "cover" and not a "remix" I agree with you, but I think you are walking a fine line there. Personally, I don't "like" or "dislike" this version. I prefer the original because that's what I grew up with, and I prefer other pieces of Visage's work better.
@gir42399 Where did you get that interpretation of "remix"? because this is a "cover" and a good one for '79 though not as good as the original for '69 both would have been analogue recordings and the sounds would have been synthesized as opposed to digitally enhanced
@JingleJoe I think you're right about that! Recording duo 'Zager and Evans' wrote 'In The Year 2525,' the #1 song of 1969.. The remixes don't compare and don't have the same feel as the 60's songs did, IMHO.
that scene when she beats the shit out of the guy in the fountain is one of my favourites. maybe the best depiction of invisibility in an animation, ever!
The Zager & Evans version was haunting and human, evoking the theme of the song. This is cheesy and computerised, completely undermining the theme of the song and rendering it meaningless.
This is just as good--possibly even better--than the original. BTW, the sexy image used for this video is amusingly outdated; there's no way that by 2525, we'll be using cable and wires. It'll all be completely wireless, organic machinery!
back in the 90'S DJ Billy used to played this one at Club @ in Tijuana Mexico, I was DJ there too but he knew what was good and this theme was one of the greatest!!
Oh come on,.... Ghost in the Shell, basically the main inspiration for the Matrix from opening titles, to the action scenes, and some of the philosophical aspects.

@Cubroncs03 times were different... late 60's and early 70's in another kind of music then mid 80's... Bands like Visage, Boy George, Dead or Alive changed music history even if most people that would listen them today for the first time wouldn't agree with me... i can appreciate musicians and instrumentation too but my view on music is far larger then most people have... just check my fav list and u'll understand....
I think that is the well known 1983 version, not a remix. I took it from the CD "The Damned Don't Cry", and there is not mention of this track being a remix (which is made clear for other tracks on the same album).

Some songs work w/ a strong, steady (plastic) beat... seems this isn't one of them.
- Of course my opinion's been shaped by having known the ori. for about 40 years.
When it comes to beats, plastic /inelastic ain't often so fantastic or "all that."
For jazz purists in fact they'd be judged, I bet, as *crap* /flat out bad, almost uniformly.

Lyrics first heard around mid 1970s, Thanks to You Tube, revisited.
IF man is still alive & woman has survived ? ?
Not withstanding Annas & Arunas, the MYTH of the "most powerful, benevolent & merciful".
The fire ants & Locust WILL BE REPLACED BY HUMANS as the Pestilence & most Vicious Predators of 2525.
The neta-babus OF 2525, will live under a protective dome protected from
radiation & toxins, self inflicted weapons of mass destruction.
