what engine mods do yuo need to do to run on alcohol? is it the same mods as methanol? i heard you need to bore out jet, put wieghts on floats and adjust timing. is this true?

alcohol/methanol same thing. All u got to do to run alcohol is bore the main jet in the carb. just do a little bit at a time until u have the mixture just right. U dont have to touch the float as far as i know because the carbs that we run on the briggs are the stock ones and dont have floats. U dont have to touch the timing but i put 20-30 degrees advanced in mine and it really rips. but u dont have to, it will run just fine without touching the timing.

Just keep ur eye on the cylinder wall if its an aluminum bore when running alcohol especially if its running really rich. The alcohol and the bore dont get along. I run mine with an aluminum bore but just make sure ur not running to rich and it shold be fine.

methanol is hell on the carb's diaframs, tho well if it sits up for about 3weeks the diafram will dry out & get hard. and you need to blow the methanol tho the tanks cap till you hear it come up in carb before it well start... this is coming from a 5hp "block" briggs dirt track KART RACER LOL
