My uncle 8th great uncle is George Burroughs and he was hanged for being a witch when he was actually a puritan minister but because he never took the time to get ordained a rival minister trumped up witch charges to get even.

My uncle was a good man who helped people, he didnt deserve his fate.

There's quite a few theories on what really happened besides hallucinations. The one that has the most beliefs is the land controversy. People wanted all the land they could get, so they got rid of the people with the most so they could get it. Pretty stupid.

This is a touching memorial, however, it is unfortunate that those that were accused of witchcraft and died during imprisonment were ignored in its presentation. The designer of the memorial and the city of Salem should not have overlooked this. It is very disrespectful to the unmentioned victims as well as to their descendants.

In 1992 Danvers erected a witchcraft victims memorial that is much more respectful and inclusive of all the victims...not just selected ones.

this happened in massachussets in 1692.citizens went to court to testify against other people in the village.if they denie of being witches they are killed,if they agree of being witches they are put in jail for a certain amount of time and released.

Most modern witches do not hate organized religions (that would be the teens who just want to stand against something...anything).Keep in mind, the church kept its' subjects in fear in order to keep control. they had been doing that for thousands of years. The Puirtans were merely doing as they were taught was acceptable behavior of the day(I am not saying that makes it ok).Fear is contageous and Salem was merely in its' path.
