beautiful! it's unique and in some way shows a little bit of the person you are :) I love how you change the whole meaning of the song without changing any of the lyrics just the way you sung them :)
I liked how you hit that soul higher note in the word 'youth'
this is youtube at its best: in a millions years , I would not have been able to hear tis rendition; rather, I would have been given whatever the gods of the big production companies would deign to give me. Julie A's version was pretty good, of course, but this shows another dimension, which I think I prefer.
no no no don't tone it down. right on, dude (hey, are you a dude or a dudette? :) - I like the unisex blindfold with the artful yin-yangy , abraxas black and white-ness, which is also consistant with these profound lyrics of this song, coupling misery with happiness all in one life.
look at the words, 'wicked', 'miserable' - consistant w/ your rendition!
dudette. although unisex is one of the words I might use to describe myself. I am both feminine and masculine depending on what's appropriate for the circumstance. I'm very much yin and yang. At least I feel balanced. great observation. love what you pulled out of it. alot can be told about a person through the way they interpret music. I'm glad my truth comes out.
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful! I saw your video in this site called stlyrics when I was searching for the song. I was so taken by your singing that I had to watch the real one here too. Well done. You have a wonderful voice. Keep singing.
I think you did a pretty good interpretation of this tune. Keep performing it the way you feel it. - I do hope you get a better guitar to compliment your voice. A Takamine would be an affordable choice, and won't have the "tinny" sound of something cheap. Best of luck in your future endeavors, and don't let the critics get you down.
this rendition is SIIICK!! what are your chords?? i've been tinkering around on my guitar trying to figure them out, but can't quite get them right. every time i visit my grandma, she makes me play guitar for her...and she would absolutely LOVE this rendition of "something good" (the sound of music is one of her favorite movies). thanks for the awesome video and awesome song!
thank you for the uplifting compliment. I'm switching between D,G and A or A minor I believe. I don't actually play the guitar, I'm more familiar with the ukulele. the sound of music is a great movie. Your grandma knows what's up.
this rendition is SIIIICK!!! what are your chords? i've been tinkering around on my guitar trying to figure them out for a little while, but can't quite get them right. i always play guitar for my grandma and she would LOVE this rendition (the sound of music is one of her favorite movies)
@squaklotrd- I actually disagree. I love the way this kid sings it. Songs dont have to be redone the exact way each time and this is a fine example. Right? :-)
When Maria sang it she was finally giving into her vulnerability, so was the captain. I've never been a timid person in that way and the lyrics meant something different to me so my interpretation should be different. One word can take on many meanings depending on what we want to put emphasis on. So can a song. It is loving, I meant every word of it. I love gospel choirs, island music and folk rock. Maybe not your thing/sound? I can respect that. Pitchy? Maybe.
I have never written a comment, but I love your voice so much I needed to give you my appreciation! Your voice is so relaxed and soft/peaceful, yet so strong. I would love hearing so much more from you!!! Thanks!
I am becoming a fan, listened to both of your videos, and your voice tone is PERFECT, your intonation, your verbrato - perfecto.. ... Please try singing "brandi carlile" .. Some songs of hers that I think you should sing are . "Trajedy," "The Story." "Turpentine" ... etc.. Just look up Brandi Carlile and attempt to do a cover. i think you would do fantastically! You are amazing, GodBless!
I flippin love Brani Carlile. I first heard her "story" song on an episode of Grey's anatomy and immediately became a fan. I'm not much of a guitar player so maybe I'll find the karaoke version to these songs some time in the future and sing it on here for you. and thanks. all these possitive comments are so encouraging
@musicindiefan0 I just learned turpentine as well as oh dear on my ukulele. oh dear needs a little more vocal practice, high notes I'm an alto. turpentine should be posted soon
I must say, I'm not one to randomly post comments on peoples videos, but I love this song, and truly truly enjoyed your rendition!!! I love the feeling in your voice!!!! You have lots of soul!!!! Although I do would not blame you for not listening to a complete stranger, keep up the lovely singing!!! :)
It means more to me comming from a complete stranger because you are under no obligation to give me encouragement. Thank you. I'm so glad that you recognized that I wasn't just singing but also feeling this song.
great job!
