  • Just because you have a fire truck doesn't mean your ready and physically fit to be a fire department

  • Criminal...the State of Oregon allows this. Obviously an unprotected community at risk for a significant event. Watching this makes me appreciate our Califronia Fire Service.

  • fire stations should not be run as a business it just doesn't work. as this shows they were ill equipped to deal with the fire didnt have the right ppe on and are using obsolete appliances. a hard hat and a neck flap does not a firefighter make. the key to successful firefighting is cooperation, clear chain of command, appropriate training and up to date equipment. they werent even able to connect to a water source. no ba ok it outdoors but no jacket, pants and boots. NOT ON!

  • Save the movey on the contract and get a good insurance policy

  • ok so i saw that there was a phone # for this "fire department" but is there an adress to send them some equipment or something?? these people need some PPE.... Hell they need everything!!! if someone knows this adress can you respond back to me?

  • This whole thing would have taken a lot less time if they had just stayed at the station.

  • Some of these guys look like kids! This is shameful! No SCBA's crappy gear and obvious lack of any kind of training!

  • I'm sorry but GPRFD is a disgrace to the fire community. " Hey we are out of water." "Ok pack it up and let it burn."

It makes it clear that you dumb fucks have know idea what the fuck your doing. I mean come on. Orange vests and construction hard hats??? On top of that "Do we have enough hose." Really, do u have to ask tht?? You should know what's on your rig at all times.

Hey GPRFD come to Western Pennsylvania and we will show you what a real fire company does and what it's about.

    PPE hell

  • mutual aid only works if agencies work together evudently Grants Pass rural doesn't play well with others I work with a dept. And we work with Rural Metro and they are awesome to work with we help them and they help us. Good stuff

  • @Tacker videos. I think I would rather pay the higher cost. Then watch my house snd everything I own burn to the ground. what if a civilian was inside? are they going in with that "ppe" I hope not.

  • And thus leads to my next question, do YOU donate any time or money to this VFD?

  • Does Grants Pass have codes, cause that first place that was shown was an utter junkyard

  • Trackervideos, you also failed to mention that Grants Pass Rural is not dispatched by 911, if they hear the tone out over a scanner then they respond. Fellow Grants Passian

  • The Denver Fire Dept. puts this fire company to shame

  • It's like watching the keystone cops

  • i just dont get it that had to be the worst example of neaghboor helping neighboor in the world what happened to fire fighting because u want to help and do good their hoses were already strung out they shoulda stayed.

  • wow those guys didnt have any of the ppe required. and i cnat believe they wouldnt help out a guy whos house and life is on fire thats the worst kind of coorperation there is. shut em all down and let local govt take care of it. I am from a volunteer fire dept that services about 300 square miles. and we contract with each of the townships that seems to work pretty good.

  • Few people think about the fire department and even fewer care until they need us. Resources, appliances and training save lives and property. I noticed the lack of PPE. We all could do a better job.

  • i heard about those paid fire services and some time ago when a resident was too cheap to pay for the monthly service fee called the company to put out a house fire the company said "sorry you did not pay... we will not come." i hear a another town did come but by the time they did get there the house was beyond saving so i guess the saying

    'cheap pays it is true

  • what exactly were you expecting them to do? run inside the house? And FYI it didn't explode, likely the fire load equaled out...

  • @liberalinthedesertaz Expect them to do more than stand around with the trash line for an exterior attack. But maybe that's asking too much.

  • Wow. You must make sure Labor and Industries is sent this footage with all the information that you have. Who cares if they are unsuccessful putting out a fire on there own, it happens. However, firefighter safety does matter and we have LAWS that say so! Follow through with this amazing footage, you could possibly save all those untrained firefighters from getting hurt!

  • and some of you guys should leave your ego's at the door!

  • you shouldn't bash the FF who were both poorly trained and poorly geared. Did anyone even notice the hoarding in the yard? It probably was a favor for the county for that shit hole to burn to the ground! If you live in a rural area with little to no F/R protection, you should prepare yourself for those consequences and take responsibility if you keep a cluttered yard, or are too fat to get off the recliner, or smoke or drink too much to keep heart disease and diabetes knocking at you door.

  • Big fire big water! Remeber that one Josephine County

  • I gotta admit,Being a fellow firefighter,I typically aint got anything bad to say bout fire departments,But DAMN! Half them guys didnt even look old enough to shave. I also know that if I lived in that area (Thankfully I dont) I'd be calling rural/Metro. Cost be damned. That or I'd SERIOUSLY be looking to recruit experienced help and be checking with some bigger cities nearby for safe, usable STRUCTURAL gear and some packs.

  • I know literally nothing about firefighting but... that looks like a garden hose...

  • Well I maybe only a simple Medic, but this department should be shut down for the lack of PPE they have. I understand having low budgets, since I have volunteered for such departments in the past, but we had PPE and SCBA. Their exterior attack was a joke. Hope they get shut down because they are useless! Glad I live in a area were not only does my taxes pay for this service, but my members of my department have the things they need to get the job done, and safely!

  • I've seen better fire departments in Somalia.

  • there gear is so shit!

  • Why did Rural/Metro leave? Sure, they were told to, but why did they? If they had stayed, and put the fire out, what would have been the consequence?

  • @flairball It's like asking your competition for help, it just doesn't happen. No way would Ford help out Chevrolet! Plus if a R/M firefighter is injured GPR would be held liable. This house had a contract with GPR and the only way Rural/Metro could remain on scene and fight the fire was if the resident of the house requested them and agreed on paying the high fees in doing so. rural/metro charges $750 for a flue fire with a single engine response, so imagine what a full response would cost!

  • @TackerVideos It shouldn't be asking your competition for help. In the rest of the US we call for mutual aid from neighboring departments all the time. This thing your community has going on - it's going to get people killed. And this thing that GPR has going on with no training, no leadership, no PPE - it is absolutely going to get people killed.

  • Many of you guys are just saying things without consequence, have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe the folks that r trying to help others cant afford the SCBA's or bunker gear. I wish nothing more but to help others, but can you imagine having to buy a set of gear and a scba. There trying there best! With what they've got. I will agree that the way they run is dangerous but Thats their decision.

  • @caterpilar665 If they can't afford SCBA or bunker gear, then they shouldn't be trying to run a fire department. This is serious stuff - it has life and death consequences. You can WANT to help others, but becoming a casualty due to lack of training and equipment isn't going to help anyone, anytime. My favorite part of the video is when the R/M chief walks up and asks the woman who might be charge if she has accountability and she shakes her head no. Awesome.

  • @dadever Yeah i agree with you/.

  • @dadever all fire departments start off with little to no equipment but yes it was pretty dumb of them to tell the other department to leave but then again the other department shouldnt have left anyway thats a sign of someone not wanting to do there job

  • @caterpilar665 Their way is not only dangerous, but it is illegal in pretty much every state of the union. If any of them took them time to read their IFSAC Firefighter 1 book, they'd know that. It doesn't matter how willing you are to risk your life, it's what command wants to do.

As far as trying their best, that would involve letting another, *staffed* district take over their area. Nothing in that video is anyone's "best", simply a bunch of guys who thought it'd be fun to play fireman.

  • wow I cant belive there are departments in the US like this. I work for the biggest department in the US and this crap makes me beside myself.

  • @wesfire911 I agree... I have gone to Mexico, ecuador and Chile to train firefighters and give them equipment with Mutual Aid Americas (an FDNY Chief N.G.O.)... knowing that maybe there are more FD's in the USA like this one make me wonder if all that help and resources should be put HERE in THE US instead of abroad. ("sigh")...

  • glad i dont live there thats awful..

  • What a shame that a number of dedicated folks who I gather want to do a good job and put out that fire are held back by a rivalry over who has the contract. I really hope they can agree to pull together, get the necessary training and equipment and serve the community together as one fire brigade with a number of stations to provide fire safety.

  • How old are those guys? Have they ever had training at least? This is bad, very bad. Lucky it didn't put the forest on fire.

  • maybe they schould get some ppe's and scba's so they can actually go in and put the fire out what a disgrace to us true firefighters

  • at 3:13 the kid is spraying the hose around like its his little play toy maybe these guys would be better off just watching the house burn rather than just play around. what a bunch of fake firefighters not even capable of exterior attack

  • WHY DID THE REAL FIREFIGHTERS ("Rural/Metro") LEAVE!?!?!?! Are you kidding???? They ran out of water???

  • @FFIrish23 No, Rural/Metro was told to leave by Grants Pass Rural....it was not their choice.

  • @FFIrish23 Grants Pass Rural ran out of water AFTER Rural/Metro left

  • HAHAHA I love ho the real firefighter show up and have it knocked down in like 2 minutes. Where ever those first "firefighters" serve and protect....I would probably move from

  • defensive ops with a 3/4 inch line *sigh *disappointed face :/

do they not even have coats let alone scba's!?

  • sorry but they i dont think they are firefighters

  • Im speechless... absolutely ridiculous.

  • God Damm atleast there trying, give some credit

  • The guy hiding behind the wood pile looks like he is dodging snipers!

  • They should have just let the thing burn to begin with. That's how bad they are.

  • The first thing I noticed was lack of PPE. Then I noticed the young age of A LOT of the 'firefighters'. Now, where I volly they allow people who are 16y/o to join, but they pretty much direct traffic and play go-fer. Then I wondered why they would continue to use a 1" and 3/4 line on the L-side of the structure. But most striking was the frantic, leaderless, amateurish behavior exhibited by a lot of these 'FFs'. They need to get their shit together otherwise, someone WILL die.

  • oook so..1. kids in hard hats and traffic vests? 2. guy hideing behind a pile of wood power washing the "house" 3. at 2:08 the "firefighter is running away. 4. I am honestly horibly embarassed to think that when these people tell people that they are firefighters they put themselfs in the same catagory as me and my thousands of brothers. I understand low funding and other things but there is no excuse for this..none...garbage plain and simple

  • At least they try. But they need serious help.

  • Is this a joke ?

  • Rural/Metro did a better job than Grant Pass...SCBA's werent put on...Grant Pass were unprepared unlike Rural/Metro..they had full PPE..including SCBAs...did and excellent job moving to the west side and fighting against the fire...these departments need to learn how to work as a team..its not about competition..all fire depts. do the same wrk..need to work together and cooperate with one another...these are the worst fire depts ever...i would not recommend joining them...

  • this company needs to take a look at its mutal aid. this isnt a real fd its a bunch of whackers that think they can figjt fire. its a disgrace for them to be called firefighters after watching this video. of my uears in the fire service ive never seen a company this bad. Ever.

  • @HeavyRescue4323 learn to spel (dumbass)!

  • Comment removed

  • @dflight1 SPELL LOL! Apologies was using my phone when I post this

  • There is something seriously wrong here-Department,County and State. I'm not sure who's in the more danger the armatures or the homeowners

  • Then the pro's show up, aleast they tried.

  • WOW I can't believe that this is even real. Its sad. That could have been knocked down quick if these men and woman had the proper Gear and training.

  • Where can you get more information about this "fire department"

  • un professional and a very stupis fire district

i think they should be closed down

  • @TAPSFAN2013 nise speling duhmshit

  • this is what FEMA grants are meant for not to go to rich departments for exercise departments

  • Isn't there some law forcing the local authority to provide an adequate fire and rescue service? you can blame local government more than the crews in this respect, they clearly don't have or know any better.

  • Missing PPE, no SCBA's, no leadership, no co-operation on mutual aid, these folks need help. This will lead to disaster. Train hard, practice how you train & stay safe.

  • @fireman1943

and what if they had no PPE? no SCBAs to use? had nothing to train with?

Not every fire department has money you know.

  • @AUSSIE249 then you have no business being a "firefighter" or having a "contract" with homeowners to offer "protection" if you cannot protect your own people.

And I was a FF for 18yrs so keep that in mind prior to answering.

  • @AUSSIE249 Then you stay the heck away from the fire and just hit it with the deck gun.

  • @AUSSIE249 NFPA and OSHA spell out basic requirements for structural firefighting and I don't think a single thing regarding Rural (FD) meets any of those requirements, except that they are living human beings, they responded to the call, and they had a working pump & hoses. No department is perfect but at least most try harder than this to get there.

  • Ive seen these clowns up close... They are retards...

  • Its all great and wonderfull that these volunteers want to help out (God bless them), but at the cost and very likey chance that someone gets hurt or dies because im improper equipment and PPE, its not worth it. There looks as if there is no organization, command system, or anything. I say shut them down and as most people agree, re-organize a formal fire district. Im not sure what kind of taxes come in the area, but im sure there are programs out there. This "Fire Department" needs to go ASAP.

  • i hate to say this but hell my fire explorer post could do a better job than these untrained idiots. We could have the fire contained and knocked down in practically no time. Oh and yeah, where the fuck is there PPE? ....lol

  • 1. I don't think they need air packs at this point

    2. Im guessing they do not go interior ever so they probably dont need air packs at all

    3. I dont think that the safety vest has any purpose right now

    4. They do not need to duck down like there taking morter fire

    5. Im guessing they dont run a 400'

    lol stay....safe

  • You are correct...who the hell walks away from an active fire???

This department has to have a revamp of mutual aid and training...makes me mighty pissed to see this lax-back attitude twords firefighting...Thanks for the upload!

  • Hey they are trying to the fire out, like the person said before the only bad FD is a fire dept who doesnt respond, obviously these fire depts need to learn who to work together. but this video isnt helping. the county needs to step in to help these folk out.

  • The only bad Fire Department in the one that doesnt respond!

  • @mckinstryt I have to disagree with you. This department shouldn't be responding to any calls. It's obvious that any money from contracts isn't going into equipment, training or firefighter safety. They don't even have good tactics. They are just looking to get themselves or someone else killed. I feel sorry for anyone who chose to contract with these people. You'd be just about as well off with your own garden hose.

  • @natespapa09 i totally agree...these departments should not be responding to calls at all...Rural/Metro moved to west side to attack fire...that is a good tactic unlike others who just stay on one side..but they all need to work as a team..

  • makes me glad to live in Arkansas

  • Wow, Just wow. Makes me sick to watch. Why hasn't the County stepped in and formed a fire district?

  • I don't think that 1 3/4" is going to do it.

  • @38ffems

A 3 inch blitz line along with 1 3/4 was needed.

  • I guess for me the most obvious question is what's the difference between the "house" and the rest of the dump? Anybody bring the marshmallows? And I just love Rural's "gear".

  • that was terrible. If that was Rural/Metro's call the fire most likley would have been extinguished qute quickly

  • Ok so welcome to hillbilly hell ! And they actually call themselves a fire departmernt!

I am by know means a fan of Rural Metro but I can honestly see why they have a contract here ! Maybe The folks of Josephine County shoud try to get a Firefighters assistance grant from the federal government ! And by the way fighting structure fires with the booster reel went out about the time the last episode of Emergency aired ! Man up get some help and for God's Sake get some training !!!

  • Sounds like ammunition going off.

  • Love the guy in the Safety Vests ! Is that Fire Proof ? Oh Wait I meant the Nomax Gear

  • nice bunker gear let it go not worth saving wow i have seen it all

  • Are you freaking kidding me?!?!!! You people have the same freaking mission. Protect life and property. Get over your freaking egos, work together and accomplish your damn mission! That's fine that you compete for contracts but competing while on the scene is freaking asinine. I pray you get the sh!t sued out of you.

  • I guess this is proof that inbreeding is still alive & well in Oregan.

  • This video needs the Beverly Hillbilly theme song playing in the background. It's the only way a person can make s ense of this.

  • I can't belive this still goes on today they should be shut down I mean did you see the gear can anyone say NFPA, I know alot of departments use old trucks but those didn't even look like they should be in service the other problem is competeing departments spil funding the town or county should close one

  • This is by far, the most incompetent, if not the WORST fire department in the United States! Somebody needs to start calling the Governor of Oregon, the State Fire Marshal and the State Police to arrest the county sheriff and shut this department down now!!!!

  • Respond to this video... OMG!!! I can't imagine that stuff like this still goes on in the US!

  • yeah Oregons a pretty wacky state
