This was one of my favourite books growing up, was really excited about the movie but it was kind of a shame that they went in this kind of direction. Even though the book did have comedic moments, you wouldn't really call it a comedy like the movie does

The Book? A classic I will read to my children.

The movie? A wannabe Shrek movie. Funny at times.. yeah it made me laugh... but it is NOTHING compared to the book which made me cry/laugh/and actually care about the characters.

Narnia/Inkheart/HP books I've read and watched the movies, sure they don't get everything right and add their own twists to the story... but at least it's something the fans look forward to and watch time and time again!

Saying 'the book is better' is like saying 'the sun is hot'. The HP books are better than the movies, the LOTR books are better than the movies, the Narnia books are better than the movies. My point? The books are ALWAYS better than the movies for a million different reasons so stop complaining.

I read the book AFTER I watched this, & I think they are both equally AMAZING in their own DIFFERENT ways. I don't think u should compare them, cuz obviously we're going 2b biased. If u look @ the movie as just a movie (as if book does not exist), you'll realize how funny it is! Same goes for the novel! Usually, the ppl that read the book first r going 2b loyal & expect the film 2b the same, but if it was, I don't think the movie would be as good as it is 2day. I LOVE BOTH!!! XD

As someone who has always felt the story of Ella Enchanted played a huge role in inspiring my childhood imagination, this movie is a complete and utter failure. It turns the tale of strong, spirited, and funny Ella into a stupid, silly adventure with absolutely no meaning. If the BBC had taken this book an turned it into a mini series, it would have been amazing. Read the book girls. Please.
