You have a point, but you're missing a few things here. Bonobo's in the wild have a language of over 3,000 words. They can construct and understand sentences and learn from humans from observation. They can figure out how to drive, light and put out fires and write just by watching us. They may however need an example first and not be able to come up with abstract concepts.

Kanzi is so special, few people can really comprehend it. Having spent 6 hours a day for 7 months with a common chimp doing language research, I can say its a miracle that Kanzi can even sit still for so long! That certain microbes have a big roll... I think that perhaps bonobos living closer to grass lands changes the microbes they encountered and thus changed them...
