  • i got an error doing exactly what u did

saying that the TGA format is not suported help?

  • cool video dude. hey add me on steam lol ive played with u guys before. my steam id is oblivionknight21

  • Why arent you using xp/vista? >:o

  • I'm using XP in the video. GiMP comes in a version that works on Windows. I cropped out unnecessary portions of the screen to save space, so that's why start menu isn't visible, etc.

  • O.o

  • ty verymuch its working :d

  • You're quite welcome. Glad you like it!

  • I have a problem... Its not the programs fault, its my comp but i need help...

Everytime i hit Save as, Gimp freezes... I know its my comp fucking up because it does it in other programs too, but any1 kno WTF is going on? thanks

  • Sound like perhaps a memory issue.

You might try downloading and running Memtest86, do a google search to find it and learn how to use it.

    Good luck.

  • very good tut, it is much better that the others

  • YES thank you very much, that is the firts tutorial who works!

  • it was a very nice tutorial !!well done

  • The file is about 1000 kb, that is a bit much. How can i make it smaller?

  • Snozeet, A key factor here is the resolution, this is the part where I say 512x512

Sprays also work well dimensions in powers of four I've found, such as 256x256 or 128x128, of course, as with any smaller image it won't look as good in game, but the file size will be smaller. I just did these:

    512x512 = 1,025 kb

    256x256 = 257 kb

To resize and resave your existing spray in gimp go to image, scale image, and then set width and height.

    Good luck, thanks for watching!

  • i only have 1 check box- it reads good in steam but it sprays and i dont see it

  • Do you see it in the preview window in game when you set it as your spray?

Also, some surfaces in maps don't work well (I often have trouble spraying on the floor in maps).

Try spraying it on the stock map "dod_anzio" on the allies side on the beach between the two boats, I usually don't have spray troubles there.

  • Thank you. This is the best tutorial for Gimp Transparent sprays. Everyone else is a nervous wreck and use too many fillers like, "Ummmmm, okay? Ok. Soooooo... okay?"

    Nice work. 5/5

  • Ah well thank you twiggy, just trying to help ;)

I hope to get an animated spray one done with the gimp as well. Although I'll have to get some other programs as well to do it, but I'll film getting those programs as well.

  • .tga's dont work in DOD source latest Verson~

  • You must be doing something wrong. I used the exact method I detailed here three days ago and it worked just fine.

I found only .tgas made with my method exactly have worked for me.

    Good luck!

  • where did you get that program ?

  • It's called the GiMP, available at the link in the description.

  • btw when i put my images in the screenshot section and then when i try toset it as a spray it doesn't work? what am i doing wrong?

  • Do you get an error message of some sort?

  • nice video

  • Thank you.

  • For those whom this didn't work for I was having the same issue but then i remembered i had already saved the file as .tga once before I tried this method which compresed it and thats why they will not work in DOD/CS/wtfever. So I started on a previously saved file that hadn't been saved as .tga and followed this method and it worked..Good luck All.

  • Interesting, that would probably do it.

Thanks for posting daperro, I appreciate it.

  • it doesn't work on my DoD:s

  • The update makes it stupid and NO tga files work.

  • I've used tga files since the update on DOD:S, I'm using one right now for it that I made a week or so ago.

  • I clicked imort spray in-game, got a tga file from C:/Users/Mack/Pictures it was a 56 kb file and this came up. "This file's TGA format not supported. Supported TGA formats are 24-bit RGB and 32-bit RGBa.

  • Did you use my method?

  • Yupperz

  • Still works for me, just tried it now.

Go to Help -> About in the Gimp, what version do you have?

I'm thinking maybe gimp had an update. Other things, be sure you are unchecking origin at bottom left and rle compression at the last step.

  • thank you dude :)

  • You are quite welcome, thanks for watching!

  • Sweet XD

  • Are you going to make more? Like...any more tut's about anything? Cuz...I am interested in your specialty :] :] And im made a couple. Not as good as the one you use...but still

  • I might, depends what sort of other things I intend to try and help people out with.

  • Hmmm....I shall use this...Yes, very very good video. Very informal. Btw, this is Loy :]

  • Hey Loy,

Thanks man. I'm hoping it helps plenty of folks out there with this process.
