I have been wondering for a while why I felt so emotionless with the death of Sayid, Sun, Jin and Jack and the show's ending itself. As well as the fact that I watched the whole show within a few months so I wasn't emotionally invested with it as many, I think it had a lot to do with Locke's death so early on. He was by far my favourite character and I HATED how they killed him off and then put the smoke monster in his body. After that I just didn't like LOST as much.
I felt SO bad for John Locke. Not only did he not have a real family, but he was nearly murdered by his own father who only used him to get a kidney. And then when he finally gets what he wants, the island, Ben decides to take it from him by murdering him. John Locke was the most kind hearted, and most utterly human character in any t.v. show i have EVER seen. And his life just plain SUCKED! I'm sorry John Locke that you're life was so miserable.
Keep in mind this is just the 4th episode of the whole series! yeah we get the surprises with Kate being a fugitive and the whole polar bear thing, but THIS?!?!?! Seeing a man stand on his feet for the first time in four years while Giacchino's blasting an audible wall of emotion at you, how can you not say that this is an amazing show????
You know, you listen to this song and you realize one thing: Locke's life sucked, and the only thing that made him happy resulted in even more sadness later.
This is one of the best fitting soundtracks. It portrays the character and his struggles perfectly. As it goes on its like ''the testing of John Lockes faith'' and constant hurdles in life - on island and off -'', and as it nears the end you can feel the frustration inside him when he is told what he cannot do. The pain in this mans life is portrayed beautifully in this track.
I knew from series 1 that he was gonna be a main character and was proved right!
Giving my opinion, i take desmond as my favourite because he was really charismatical (brotha!) and he always was looking for a way to be useful and help, no matter what he had to sacrifice (remember third season finale when he tried to save charlie) but Locke has something different from all tv characters i can remember. He had a very fucked up life and then suddenly destiny smiles him and gives him the chance to be ... somebody. So good developed, so empathetic, greatest Lost achievement

I looked down the barrel of the gun, and I believed. I thought it was my destiny to get into this place and somebody died a kid because he was stupid enough to believe that I knew what I was talking about. And on the night that he died for nothing, I was sittin right up there all alone, beatin my hand bloody against that stupid door, screaming to the Heavens, asking what I should do, and then a light went on. I thought it was a sign, but, it wasn't a sign probably just you going to the bathroom.
His theme is so different from the others, which I think sums his character up in a way, he was always a bit of an outcast and his take on life and the island was different, putting the crash down to destiny not coincidence and being a believer, luckily his death wasn't in vein. LOCKE MADE JACK A BELIEVER, AND ME!

When he was really ticked and was ready to wrap up the conversation he would say, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT I CAN'T DO!!" If he was really mad at you he would had "EVER!" to the end.
Locke was the most tragic one on the show, besides Ben. He only wanted to be loved. To be inportant. Helpful. To be special. And no one in his life ever treated him that way. No one but Helen. Then she died. I used to think he was weird (remembers creepy orange smile) and he was, but that wasn't his fault. He was such a tragedy.

@xrysh1 I don't know, as much as it was painful to see him die, his death was important in giving Jack a reason to go back to the island,as well as convince everyone else to go back.

The story of John Locke actually made me reconsider my views on destiny, faith, and life in general.I'm usually told to be a logical, rational person and refused the idea of predestination.But Locke made me view things from another perceptive, leading me to a deeper understanding of individuals having a completely different mindset than on my own.I've never thought a TV show could do that to me:D
Probably the saddest, most tragic death in television history. John Locke suffered his entire life, and still he stayed a believer until the bitter end.
Locke was an awesome character! His ''change'' on the last half of season 5 till the bitter end of season 6 was...not handled well. No offence to Terry's acting (amazing acting.) The ''bad'' Locke was intersting for only 3 or 4 episodes, after that it got all the same and made me miss the real Locke even more.
We no there are wild boar on the island, razorbacks by the look of em! The ones that came into the camp last night were piglits. 100...150 lb each. Which means there's a mother near by. A 250 lb rat! With a scimitar-like tusk and a surly disposition who'd love nothin more than to eviscerate anything that comes near her. Boars usually motive to attack is to circle around charge from behind. So I figure it'll take atleast 3 of us 2 distract her long enough for me to flank 1 of the piglits pin it
When John was pushed out of the window, i actually laughed even though john is one of my favorite characters! it was one of those so randomly intense events that just make u laugh... XD

Great thing about Locke banging on the hatch is the reason for the light is Desmond and that scene, from Desmond's pov, is the first time we hear the Desmond/Penny music. 2 epic characters, 2 heart-wrenchingly brilliant pieces of music combined in 1 moment.
@cooker3 yeah i loved how they show us why desmond turn the hatch light on it's crazy how little details like that come back in a big way like the wire on the beach and the radio tower etc.
definitely the best song of the entire OST. it's all great, but the climax of this song brings a TON of emotion out and it kind of sits above all other songs for its ability to control emotion so well.

The story of John Locke actually made me reconsider my views on destiny, faith, and life in general.I'm usually told to be a logical, rational person and refused the idea of predestination.But Locke made me view things from another perceptive, leading me to a deeper understanding of individuals having a completely different mindset than on my own.I've never thought a TV show could do that to me:D

Probably the saddest, most tragic death in television history. John Locke suffered his entire life, and still he stayed a believer until the bitter end.

Locke was an awesome character! His ''change'' on the last half of season 5 till the bitter end of season 6 was...not handled well. No offence to Terry's acting (amazing acting.) The ''bad'' Locke was intersting for only 3 or 4 episodes, after that it got all the same and made me miss the real Locke even more.

We no there are wild boar on the island, razorbacks by the look of em! The ones that came into the camp last night were piglits. 100...150 lb each. Which means there's a mother near by. A 250 lb rat! With a scimitar-like tusk and a surly disposition who'd love nothin more than to eviscerate anything that comes near her. Boars usually motive to attack is to circle around charge from behind. So I figure it'll take atleast 3 of us 2 distract her long enough for me to flank 1 of the piglits pin it

When John was pushed out of the window, i actually laughed even though john is one of my favorite characters! it was one of those so randomly intense events that just make u laugh... XD

Also I liked locke better when he wanted questions and nobody would answer him and he kept yellin "DONT TELL ME WHAT I CAN'T DO, EVER!" but when he turnd MIB it lost the exploration and the mystery vibe :L

Great thing about Locke banging on the hatch is the reason for the light is Desmond and that scene, from Desmond's pov, is the first time we hear the Desmond/Penny music. 2 epic characters, 2 heart-wrenchingly brilliant pieces of music combined in 1 moment.

@cooker3 yeah i loved how they show us why desmond turn the hatch light on it's crazy how little details like that come back in a big way like the wire on the beach and the radio tower etc.

definitely the best song of the entire OST. it's all great, but the climax of this song brings a TON of emotion out and it kind of sits above all other songs for its ability to control emotion so well.
