@MrAndersohn Yeah, it's incredible how kids pay for "flashy crap" and that's making the film industry to turn into a pile of crap.
It's different when we have movies like LOTR, but what about shit like Star Wars ep. I and Avatar that are actually expendable events? Yes the visual advance, but what's the point if we have bullshit wrapped with it?
Another example is Bram Stoker's Dracula over pretty boys who can't act. Holywood, like the trans-national music corporations, it's endangered.
@souljalinchen Avatar from James Cameron... and that's pretty funny, I mean, when they had to "do the effects themselves" like in Aliens or Terminator 1 (and in some way 2) we got true classics. But lately they brought the industry down that bad to make necessary bringing back certain franchises like Batman or (again) Terminator, or retell stories like Avatar - Pocahontas or Benjamin Button - Forrest Gump (ever noticed it?) to make some money -which seems to be today's only goal.
@albertoalejandro0424 They always tried to make money, although back than you often had directors who wanted to raise the bar. Nowadays most directors are puppets of the industry they work for an in. However, I blame the audience. People have a voice with their purchasing power. As long as they run like sheep to see every movie that gets the crap hyped out of it, nothing will change.
I do somewhat agree with the fact, in particular, science fiction movies, the luster and 'real' feel is lost more often than not in the recent movies due to extreme usage of Cgi. Imo limited usage of Cgi is great, primarily for patching things up and patching things in... but when a movie tends to rely heavily on Cgi created scenes, more often than not there is a noticable difference. As long as people are raving about such movies and forgetting the past, it likely wont change.

I think it's funny that the Skotak brothers also worked with Roger Corman, who was one of the original choices to direct "Alien".

@peri2502 Very well said, I grew up in the aliens generation. My friends and I agree that they just don't make movies like they used to.
