Plenty of bands play melo-death. Some are good, some are great, and some are just content to rip off better, more accomplished bands. And even Bodom isn't all that great anymore.
I can certainly hear the influence of Bodom in their songs, this one especially. That being said, I personally do not think that Archeon is ripping them off. Something Wild was an exciting, creative album that had its roots firmly planted in "metal" - it was bound to inspire and influence a new wave of Melodic Metal bands. The rest of Bodom - I.e. post 1998/9 - felt a little hit or miss to me, with a vast majority of it sounding overproduced and too polished for my liking...
... Listening to more Archeon material I can sense they have their own identity amongst their influences. Are they truly original? No. But I get the feeling that their music has a rawer attitude to it - I can hear some speed/thrash metal at times (albeit used sparingly) in there (more so than Bodom had) and their overall sound appears to be less melodic. The intro to "Ruins of Life" is very Judas Priest - Painkiller. Anyway, those are just my thoughts ;).
Then I go and hear "Archeon - Lost Fool"... The most Children of Bodom sounding song I have ever heard another band play before. LOL -_-. Lets say they are HEAVILY influenced by COB :P.

It is focused on the history of the Netherlands (Holland), its south of Alphen aan den Rijn where last saturday an massacre happend... but beside that tragic fact, Archeon the theme park has 3 parts which are fully decorated as it was in the time back then, or something like it.... kinda funny xD

Instead of a Metal rebellion i propose a new plan.
1. Don't bash other metal artists, we must unite! We cant fight against pop music if we arent even together
2. Watch more and more metal videos to get it to the top of the youtube vid list

Spent a lot of money ordering this album. very disappointing. only two good songs imo. my Blackguard album has a similar sound and many good songs. cheers.

eh D: this sound isnt that good >.< the intro guitar tone sounded like complete trash along with the bass, and vocals need some work -.- but the overall idea of the song was tight O.o just need to rerecord it

@andy59tube First off, this is not black metal. This is melodic death metal. Black metal is an extreme form of metal that has the goal of making an atmosphere, and is truly a beautiful type of music. Also, black metal is NOT satanic, it is anti-christian. They use satan to piss off christians. Last but oh definitely not least, all metal (minus -core genres and nu-metal) are true metal. My advice to you, get the fuck out of metal, because you are a poser and we don't want you.

@TheBloodRedX No, actually Christianity is not prejudice against atheists and gays. In Christianity everyone is equal regardless of belief or sexual standing. It's just people you get who condemn those groups ignorantly and wrongly who make it look that way.
