Rostropovich played this as an encore uncountable times. I am not saying it is not difficult, it surely is, but hearing Mstislav Rostropovich play it live was almost beyond description. He could fill the entire hall and every single note popped out with distinct clarity. For me, Rostropovich was still the greatest performer ever.

@bababomwala Tiger Parents. They pressure their kids, make them practice at least an hour every day, preferably 2 or 3. They'll do whatever it takes to make their kids successful. That's why a lot of asians commit suicide or kill their parents even. Look up Amy Chua, she wrote a book on it. Great cello playing! I'm a pianist/violinist, so not sure about details. Ok, so this is the "World of Warcraft battleground, button-mashing, spastic, hyperactive elf" interpretation of the song. FWIW it looks like they were going for that. They hunch so deliberately like maniacal 1920's jazz-men. The staccato pauses and jabbing piano runs bear that out in match to the shrill aspect of the cello. Judgement: if they meant to do it, they are brilliant. If it happened despite themselves, they fail. Benefit of doubt to the artists until proven otherwise.
