suddenly i miss scottish country dancing! at the ball i went to--oh gosh it was such fun! Everyone was dressed up like a ball straight out of the movie and there was so much dancing and it was so much fun! XD
@videosnapshot1 I do tot, but doesnt it just freak you out, if you stare at it for a second too long? In my case, exactly when I look at it i freak out
The music is so powerful! Unlike most of the Irish dance music that you hear at Riverdance, this music really has it's own life and doesn't need dancers or actors to back it up. The triplets in the dance section only add to the wings that it flies on; this is beautiful and perfect. I love the music in this movie!!!
Wow nice addition to all the nice pixar songs but now I was really wondering about the composer. Somebody knows? Reason is that I can't get enough of the melody hehe just like you folks.
@ACsE69 The composer is Alan Menken and he's a veteran when it comes to creating enchanting, memorable music for Disney movies. He did The little mermaid, Beauty and the beast, Hercules and many others. Few won Oscars and Tangled is nominated this year. I hope it takes few prizes.
Just because it uses the same instruments as How to Train Your Dragon, does not make the tune sound the same. The one who composed the score for Dragon was, John Powell, while the guy who composed this is, Alex Menken. Tangled is a Disney/Pixar, and Dragon is Dreamworks. No relation with each other whatsoever other than same instruments!!
@Tealioness I love this movie, and the music. Who else wishes that disney would make more amazing movies like this, pocahontas, the little mermaid, etc.!! :)
I think around 1:25 it starts getting away from the How to Train Your Dragon feel, and takes on it's own style. I'm glad it made that transition, it's when I really got into this scene and it really got the thrill of the moment across.
Yeah I hear that too. I swear the beginning of Flynn Wanted (the first 30 seconds or so) reminds me of some part of How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack although I can't find the exact part. Also several other parts of that track sound like something John Williams could write. Coincidence is a possibility but I'd go with good influence.
I noticed that some of the music bits and styles had similarities to How to Train Your Dragon. Not only does this sound like the number "see you tomorrow" (I think it was that), if you listen carefully to the part when she is looking at the unconscious Flynn for the first time, it sound EXACTLY like the number "Forbidden Friendship"!
@Shurii135 Thing about using Celtic music in your soundtrack, it'll make it sound exactly like another soundtrack using the same genre. xD
Dragon primarily used it because it's set in the British Isles where Celtic music's still pretty rampant. While Tangled is blending in plenty of Euro Folk in there, too, but the Celtic influence is most noticeable in this track.
Now, TREASURE PLANET, that takes the cake for most original use of Celtic. Ever. Listen to "The Launch" or "Silver Leaves".
@emROARS Ah, pssht, no need for sorries. I haven't read the books, so, well, I have no idea where the Burke should be. I assumed it was Scotland from the accents and, oh, yes, Gerard Butler and David Tennant. :I
Scotland. It's an awesome stopover if you're interested in raiding the Irish for the Book of Kells.
@AqworldsWiki Lol she might in the original Grimm tale, but in this story it's nowhere near Germany. For example, Flynn's clothes are similar to Italian renaissance. I think the whole place in this film is created. *shrug*
