I can tell Tal was one of the greats , during his illness at the end of his peak he was basically the master against fischer winning a series of all matches player agains tone another
I read that on one occasion, Misha snuck out of his hospital room to visit the local Chess club, which no doubt included some Vodka and cigarettes! LOL.
I think the comment I read was from Tal about this story of Fischer's Mother filming this event.
Of course Tal had a sense of humour and may have exaggerated.
, She was originally German I think?
In Fischer's later years he and his mother were reconciled - for example in some of the audio interviews on the web he said she got East European chess magazines sent to him.
quisiera saber de quien es la voz en esta cancion...pues me gusta más en esta versión pero no la puedo encontrar. Podrían ayudarme porfavor?.. gracias por los datos anteriores
Two legends, one still alive. Like all great players K excels in every aspect, not just this or that. I imagine the music was chosen because for many it is the melody to "Those were the days", the Mary Hopkin hit. It certainly has a Russian flavor so I'm not surprised it goes to 1917 (or earlier!)
The original melody was Russian indeed. The song is "Дoрoги длинные", something as "Long Roads". The melody was taken by to become a hit, with other verses,in English, French, Spanish.
Karpov did not get the title of winningest tourney player by being a total "Positional Defensive Player." His strength was his semi-open and open game knowledge.
He apparently felt the need to make up for not beating Fischer OTB for the title by winning something like 90 tournaments in a row. Karpov was an e4 player and a really good one until the match against Kasparov - he subsequently switched to d4 and found his 'true calling'.
Well,I think,it is really rude to call Karpov a positional"defensive"player.Such an adjective will fit Petrosian instead, although he was a legend of defence too.But about Karpov, what has happened is what almost always happens when a player passes the 40s...
Absolutely not! Tal can't compare to Rybka. He was better than Rybka. He played clean and he was original, unlike rybka.

I read that Fischer had his mother there at this particulr event filming Karpov as he already realized AK was the great threat to him

Sure.

Is that really true? By that time Fischer did not have a good relationship with his mother (understatement).
